Mr. Ben Pierce was in Edna on business Saturday. Mr. Morrow and Mr. Singleton were Edna visitors Friday. Miss Florence Lambert spent the week-end with home folks at Ganado. Rev. Connor of Palacios preached at the schoolhouse Sunday afternoon. Mr. [The] Singletons are enjoying a visit from their daughters of Palacios. Prof. Harbison, Miss Lambert and Mr. John Koch were in Edna Saturday on business. Prof. Thompson and daughter of Francitas was looking after their farm Thursday evening. Mrs. Lizzie Koch spent several days last week with her son A. T. Koch and family of Francitas. Prof. and Mrs. Harbison and daughters attended the Sing in Palacios Sunday. Mr. Harbison's father came home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Joines and Mr. Calvin Joines and family returned last week from Beaumont where they spent several months. Sunday School every Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. We are trying to learn some new songs and would like for every one to come. A large crowd met at the home of Mr. W. R. Joines Friday night and practiced singing. We enjoyed it so much we hope it will not be the last meeting. Saturday night when enroute to a party, Mr. Tedo Koch's mules ran away throwing all out of the wagon. Merritt Singleton was quite bad hurt and the rest bruised and badly shook up. The best mule of the team broke his leg. We were all sorry to hear of Mr. Koch's misfortune but glad there was no one seriously hurt.

Watch out for Hallowe'en, we're thinking of some fun. Mrs. Lizzie Koch is enjoying a visit from her uncle, who resides in Cuero. School is progressing fine and we don't like to give up some of our pupils. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Koch left Wednesday afternoon for Cuero, where they expect to locate. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Morrow and sons left Saturday morning for Houston where they will make their home. Prof. and Mrs. Harbison drove to Palacios Friday night to take little Miss Ermine to the doctor. We are glad to report her better. C. S. Singleton is moving his household goods to a farm near Edna. They family expect to leave in a few days. We don't like to give up this good family, but wish them good luck in their new home. The Sunday School had election of officers Sunday, Mrs. A. Stayton, superintendent; Miss Lilly Joines, secretary and treasurer; Prof. Harbison, Bible class teacher; Mrs. Martin, Intermediate teacher; Ruby Joines, Primary teacher. The box social Saturday night was well attended and the short program given by the pupils enjoyed by all. Uncle Hiram will give us some more good laughs in the future. The cake went to Miss Lillie Joines, the pie to Robert Joines. The net proceeds were $22.61. This will be used in and about the school house for the benefit of the school.

Prof. and Mrs. Thompson were in our neighborhood Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Joines are living on the Morrow place at present. Mr. and Mrs. Singleton and family left Monday for Edna to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Dahlstrom visited relatives at Ganado one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. McClarity, of Francitas, visited at the Warner home Saturday night. Masters Joseph Fritz and Joe Hurta, of Deutschburg, called at Prof. Harbison's Sunday. Mr. Warner and sons who have been working in the rice field, spent the week end at home. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Stayton and children and Mr. and Mrs. Martin and son, attended the show in Edna Saturday. Quite a crowd met at the Robt. Joines home Saturday night and spent a very enjoyable evening playing games and making candy. We are expecting to have a hot lunch Demonstration at the school house Nov. 9, and after that have hot lunches for the pupils. One night last week a few neighbors of the Singletons surprised them and had a candy party. A good time was reported.

Miss Musa Irby visited school one day last week. The pupils are going to give a Thanksgiving program. Mr. and Mrs. Key are going to move on the Thompson farm. The school compulsory law takes effect Nov. 5, and lasts 100 days. Prof. and Mrs. Thompson, of Francitas, attended our Sunday School last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Koch came home from Cuero Sunday to pack their household goods to move to Cuero. The school pupils have ordered a new volley ball and net, also some new pictures and other playground equipment. Miss Hazel Allen and the State Home Economics Demonstrator, will give a demonstration at Mrs. Harbison's Friday, Nov. 9. We hope all mothers will attend.

Ted Koch was a Palacios visitor Monday. Mr. Washington, of Ganado, was a business visitor here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Joines, of Beaumont, visited relatives here last week. Prof. Harbison and family and Miss Lambert were in Palacios Saturday. Mr. Harbison and family and Miss Lambert were entertained at dinner at Mr. Stayton's Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Warner gave a party for the young folk Saturday night. After games and dancing, Mr. Warner served delicious cake and coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Dahlstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Harbison and family, Miss Lambert and the Warner young people attended the box social in Francitas Friday night. Miss Warner won the cake given after the social to the most popular girl. Miss Hazel Allen, of Edna, and Mrs. Claytor, of the A. & M. College, gave a hot lunch demonstration Friday afternoon to a good crowd of mothers. Mrs. Claytor gave a good talk on lunch and malnutrition among children. Monday being a national holiday, school was dismissed and every one in the neighborhood filled their baskets and hied off to Factory Mott, a beautiful grove on the Caranchua near the forks. The morning was spent in fishing, W. R. Joines and Mrs. Carvell being the champion fishermen. The young folks played volleyball until the feast was cooked over the camp fire, which consisted of fish, bacon, ducks, sweet and Irish potatoes, besides cakes, pies and loads of other good eats. After dinner everyone took part in either the volleyball or baseball games, Nathan Dahlstrom being the star volleyball player. As the sun was going toward the west a tired but happy bunch started home hoping for another holiday.
