Ronald K. Elliott

Officials Investigating Apparent Stabbing Death
By Cindy Breeding

A Bay City man was discovered dead at his residence around 1:30 p. m. Monday, and the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department attributes the death to multiple knife wounds.

Ronald Elliott, 53, was apparently stabbed to death in his home on Old River Road, just off of 12th Street, Sheriff Keith Kilgore said. An investigation is ongoing to determine details.

According to Kilgore, the body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Harris County.

“The precinct 4 J. P. (Aaron Green) requested an autopsy at the inquest,” Kilgore said. He commented that the examiners will relay the initial results of the autopsy “probably later this afternoon over the phone.”

Kilgore emphasized that the department will not release information until official written reports come from Harris County.

Due to the nature of the investigation, Kilgore said the county has to be cautious about releasing information.

Elliott apparently resided alone, but he has family in Bay City, Kilgore said.

“The next of kin have been notified,” he said.

The investigation has been referred to the Matagorda County Criminal Investigations Division. Kilgore said CID and MCSD officials worked all of Monday afternoon and into the evening on the case. It appears as if Elliott might have been killed sometime Sunday evening, Kilgore said.
