Funeral services for Nora K. Bigelow, 43, of Bay City were scheduled for 10 a. m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hugh B. Jones Jr. of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was to follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Mrs. Bigelow was born Jan. 8, 1949, to George Korth and Edna Barrett Korth in Baytown and died April 9, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital.

She served as a board member for Kids in Distress services and had done volunteer work for the State of Texas of Matagorda County Human Resources Department for Senior Citizens. She was active in the community.

Survivors include her husband, Don M. Bigelow of Bay City; daughter, Neeia Elizabeth Bigelow of Bay City; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Korth of Bay City.

Pallbearers were to be Bill Seiban, Ken May, Ron Graham, Johnny Sardelich, Mike Harper and Stan Eldridge.

Honorary pallbearer was to be Brent Mason.

Memorials may be given to KIDS.

Services were under the direction of Dick R. Elkins of Bay City Funeral Home.

Funeral services for former Bay Citian Cole Morgan Watson, 21, of Houston, will be held 10:00 AM Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel, with Monsignor James Brunner officiating. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. Watson was born November 13, 1970, in Houston, to Carl and Patricia Ann Watson and died September 29, 1992, at his home.

He was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia Ann and Luther Blackwell of Bay City; his father, Carl Morgan Watson of Rosenberg; a grandfather, Frank Lopez of Houston; a grandmother, Bettye Blackwell of Bay City; a sister, Jenna Blackwell of Bay City; a half-sister, Carletta Whiteside of Houston, and a brother, Kevin Watson of Bay City.

Pallbearers will be Lacy Lowry, Scott Lowry, Edward Lopez, Ramon Lopez, John Lopez, Percival Gonzales, Richard Buckles and Frank Carr.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Vernon Briggs, 63, passed away Thursday, September 14, 1995 in Bay City, Tx.

He was born April 13, 1932 in Matagorda County, Tx to N. B. and Louise Paasch Briggs.

He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church, a life long resident of Bay City and he worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Briggs of Bay City; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bret Hutson of Bay City; sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon Ray and Donna Briggs of New Orlenas, La., Tommy Jeff Briggs of Minden, La., and Ben and America Briggs of McAllen, Tx.; He is also survived by two sisters, Anna Belle Johnson of Birmingham, Al., and Lucille Garner of Hempstead; by four brothers, Glen Briggs of Blessing, Allan Briggs of Lafayette, La., Gene Briggs of Bay City, and Jack Briggs of Odem; and by eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Briggs.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 16, 1995 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Starks and Bro. John Kirk officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers include, Kenneth May, Ben Manry, Karl Anderson, Son Cartwright, Timmy Goodman, and Hill Winfrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Smith, Bill Wilder, James Starks, Bob Hutson, and Wyatt Ashcraft.

Henry Francis Bunk, Sr.

Bay City: Henry Francis Bunk, Sr., 93, of Utopia, Texas, died July 16, 1997 at Peterson Hospital in Kerrville. Mr. Bunk was born July 27, 1903 in Wadsworth, Tx. to the late John and Mary Herreth Bunk. He had lived in Utopia the past 6 years and was a former long time resident of Wadsworth, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a long time rice farmer. He is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Sally Ann and Joe Knight of Sargent, Mary Susan and Gene Rouse of Pasadena, Tx., Patricia Lorraine Fields of Houston, 1 son and daughter-in-law: Henry and Frances Bunk, Jr. of Utopia, sister: Theresa Bunk and brother: Clarence Bunk both of Bay City, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bunk was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Combs Bunk in March 10, 1991. Rosary will be 7:00 p. m. Thursday, July 17, 1997, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Msgr. James Brunner officiating. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a. m. Friday, July 18, 1997 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth, with Rev. Bob Bovenzi officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Funeral services for Juanita Isabell Combs Bunk, 82, of Wadsworth will be held 10 a. m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City with Monsignor James Brunner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

A rosary will be held 7 p. m. today at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel.

Mrs. Bunk was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Matagorda County and died March 10, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Matagorda County, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth and has been married for 55 years.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Frances Bunk Sr. of Wadsworth; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lorraine Fields of Houston, Susan and Gene Rouse of Pasadena and Sally and Harry Polk of Sargent; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Frances Bunk of Utopia; a sister, Marietta “Pat” Tucker of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers are Harry Polk, Harry Polk Jr., Henry Bunk III, Michael Bunk, Dennis Murray and Robert Miles.

Honorary pallbearers are Archie Lee Findley and Melvin Findley.

Herman H. Eikenberg

Herman H. Eikenberg, age 48, died at the family residence at Newgulf, Texas, Saturday, at 8:30 p. m. following an illness of several months. Mr. Eikenberg had been employed by the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company for the past eight years. He is survived by his wife, four sons, Clyde, Harley, Merlin and Virgil Eikenberg and one daughter, Miss Verlin Eikenberg of Newgulf. Three brothers, R. A. Eikenberg, Fred Eikenberg of Newgulf and Ernest Eikenberg of Boling, Texas, also one sister, Mrs. Eva Barton of Nebraska.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. at the family residence in Newgulf. Reverend Platt officiated. Interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery following the services under direction of Taylor Bros.

 A rosary will be said 7 p. m. Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel.

Mrs. Valdez was born Jan. 28, 1922 in Cuero to Lorenzo and San Juanita Lopez Rodriguez and died May 3, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital.

A resident of Bay City since 1941, Mrs. Valdez was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Louise Guajardo, Mary Helen Paniugua and Angelita Lopez, all of Bay City; three sons, Jesse Valdez of Houston, John Joe Valdez of Bay City and Lorenzo Valdez of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Bertha Rodriguez and Amelia Acosta of Bay City, a brother, John Rodriguez of Houston; 18 grandchildren, and 28 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Joe Garay, David Valdez, Jerry Guajardo, Paul Garay, Joe Guajardo and Baltimore Garay.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Eugenia “Chena” Juarez Villarreal

Eugenia “Chena” Juarez Villarreal, 50, of Bay City passed away October 25, 1995 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was born August 13, 1945 in Bay City to Jose and Angelita Gutierrez Juarez.

She is survived by her father, Jose Juarez of Wadsworth, by four daughters, Velma Gomez, Adelita Villarreal, and Jo Ann Trevino all of Bay City, and Gloria Valdivia of Florida, by two sons, Joe John Villarreal and Bernardino Villarreal both of Bay City, by three sisters, Rosie Quintania of Bay City, Olivia Cervantes of Van Vleck, and Guadalupe Juarez of Hereford, Texas, by six brothers, Brujido Juarez of Wadsworth, Edward Juarez, Fernando Juarez, and Jose Pepe Juarez all of Bay City, and by twelve grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Angelita G. Juarez, and by two brothers, Gregorio Juarez and Felix Juarez.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a. m. Monday, October 30, 1995 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chad Hammons officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers include Danny Quintania, Robert Gomez, Jessie Villarreal, Pete Cervantes II, George Juarez, and Leo G. Hernandez.

Funeral services for Moses Zamora Jr., 32, of Bay City are scheduled for 2 p. m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1994, at Iglesia Methodist Church with the Rev. Miguel Balderena officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.

A prayer service for 7 p. m. today at Bay City Funeral Home.

Mr. Zamora was born Sept. 3, 1962, in Bay City to Moses and Mary Ramirez Zamora Sr. and died Oct. 15, 1994, in an automobile accident in Brazoria County near Freeport.

He was a member of the Methodist church and was employed by the Barton Company of Dow Chemical Co.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Zamora of Bay City; his mother, Mary Zamora of Bay City; his father and step-mother, Moses and Hope Zamora Sr. of Bay City; a grandmother, Julia Ramirez of Bay City; his son, Moses Zamora III of Bay City; a daughter, Linsey Rivera of Bay City; a brother, Richard Zamora Sr. of Lake Jackson and four sisters, Angie Villarreal, Margie Medina, both of Clute and Eva Rodriguez and Christina Rodriguez, both of Bay City; and two step-brothers, Frank and Joe Rodriguez, both of Bay City.

Pallbearers are James Rodriguez, Fred Medina Jr., Frank Ramires III, Ruben Canales Jr., Henry Perez Jr., and James Perez Sr.

Services are under the direction of Dick R. Elkins of Bay City Funeral Home.

Pedro “Pete” Zamora
May 15, 1930 – August 30, 1981

Funeral services for Pedro “Pete” Zamora, 51, of Bay City, will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday at the Nazareth United Methodist Church. Zamora died August 30, 1981, as a result of an auto-bicycle accident on Highway 35 West at the city limits. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Margarita Verver.

He is survived by: daughters, Elizabeth and Alma Jean Zamora, both of Bay City; sons, Paul, Pete Jr., Michael, Anthony and Edward Zamora, all of Bay City; sisters, Sarah Ramirez, Susan Perez, Julia Torres and Tomasa Lopez, all of Bay City; brothers, Jose Zamora and Moses Zamora, both of Bay City.

Zamora, a life long resident of Bay City, was a member of the Nazareth United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery following services.

Early Hour Accident Sunday - Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Car - Pete Zamora

A 51-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a car early Sunday morning along Texas Highway 35 just west of Bay City.

The victim, identified as Pete Zamora of Bay City, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Zamora was headed west on his bicycle, riding in the outside lane of the highway, when a car traveling in the same direction struck the man from behind, according to the DPS report. The driver of the car, Michael Wayne Black of Markham, reportedly did not see the bicyclist. No charges were filed. The accident took place .4 mile west of Bay City at 4:45 AM.
