Services were held for Mrs. Antonia Aragon, 37, of Bay City, 3 p. m. today (Monday) at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Ismael Marroquin. Aragon died April 2, 1983 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Survivors include husband, Jorge Aragon of Bay City; mother, Jauna Avila of Central America; daughters, Ruth Aragon and Debora Aragon both of Bay City; sons, Jorge, Joshua and Daniel Aragon of Bay City; sisters, Elieda Hilaldo and Josephine Hidaldo both of Central America; brothers, Maucelio and Emillio Hidaldo both of Bay City, Luis, Carlos and Victor Hidaldo all of Central America. Aragon was a resident of Bay City for five years and a Jehovah Witness. Burial followed services at Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Gladys "Ga - Ga" Arlitt  Beulah Gladys Arlitt Funeral services for Beulah Gladys Arlitt, 89, of Alice, Texas, will be held 2 p. m. Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Chapel, Bay City, with the Rev. Hugh Jones officiating. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Mrs. Arlitt was born Aug. 8, 1898, in Caney, Kan., and died June 23, 1988, at Hospitality House, Alice. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dena Finster of Bay City; and Mrs. Allen Bryant of Kingsville; a son, W. B. Arlitt of Bay City; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. F. “Pop” Arlitt. Pallbearers include Carl Anderson, Dale Griffin, John Arlitt, Fritz Arlitt, Michael Finster and Van T. Little. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.

Ms. Bryan was born Jan. 5, 1964, in Bay City to Daniel and Mary Ann Padia Pena and died Nov. 8, 1986, following an automobile accident in West Melbourne, Fla. She was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Pena Sr. of Bay City, a daughter, Danielle Marie Bryan of Bay City; a son, Derick Bryan of Bay City; two brothers, Daniel Jr. and David Pena of Bay City, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Teodula Pena of Bay City. Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 26, 1906, in Groveton, Texas, to Peter E. and Emily Gregson Josserand and died Dec. 6, 1988, at Matagorda House, Bay City. She was a Bay Villa Nursing Home volunteer and a member of the Sixth Street Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, C. D. and Lucille Davis of Conroe and James Allen and Claunese Davis of Bay City; a son-in-law, Dudley Ball of Palestine; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her grandson will serve as pallbearers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil D. Davis, and a daughter, Autie Cecile Ball. Services are under the direction of Dick R. Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Mr. Ferguson was born July 19, 1928, to Alvin and Mary Sandy Ferguson in Humble and died July 1, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Julane Johnson Ferguson of Bay City; mother, Mary Ferguson of Bay City; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Melodie Ferguson of Bay City; and two grandsons, Westin and Brondon Ferguson of Bay City. Hallie Eloise Fondren 
Hallie Eloise Fondren Funeral services for Hallie Eloise Fondren, 79, were held 2 p. m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Van Vleck with the Rev. Joe Ramsey officiating. Burial followed in Cedarvale Cemetery. Miss Fondren was born May 29, 1914, in Bay City to William Arthur and Pauline Yates Fondren and died Jan. 8, 1994, in Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston. A retired lieutenant colonel with the U. S. Army Nurse Corps., she was a graduate of Memorial Baptist Lilly Jolly School of Nursing in 1941. She also attended the University of Maryland and the University of Houston, Domencian College of Nursing in Houston. She was a longtime nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston and Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, V. F. W. Post 2438 in Bay City and First Baptist Church of Van Vleck. She was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. During WWII, she was in the South Pacific where she was awarded a Bronze Star. Survivors include a sister, Alene Hammond of Sweeny; a brother, Robert W. Fondren of Virginia Beach, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are her nephews, Allen Anderson, W. C. Hammond Jr., Raymond Thomasson, Don Thomasson, Timothy Thomasson and Rodney Matthews. Honorary pallbearers are Shelbert Reed, Walter Thomasson, Joe Thomasson, Dan Thomasson and Steve Matthews. Gerard Banks Garnett  G. B. Garnett G. B. Garnett, age 75, expired in Pasadena, and funeral services were held in Bay City Thursday under the direction of Walker-Matchett. Interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery. Mr. Garnett was a life time resident of Matagorda county, residing in Midfield until a few years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Darnell Jerden of Palacios, and Mrs. Ed Yeamons of Pasadena; three sons, J. A. Garnett of Blessing, Frank and G. B. Garnett of New York, to whom The Tribune extends sympathy.

A. Garnett Expires in Lufkin R. A. Garnett, age 73 years, 4 months and 2 days, expired at the home of his son, Phil Garnett, in Lufkin Tuesday at 2:55 PM. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church here today (Wednesday) with Rev. Ernest F. Deutsch officiating. Interment was at Cedarvale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Matchett. Surviving are: his wife, of Bay City, one son of Lufkin, and two sisters, Mrs. G. A. Morrow of Millett and Mrs. E. P. Morrow of McFadden.

Mr. Gates was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Glendale, to Ben F. and Mamie McWhorter Gates and died Jan. 30, 1995, in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. He was a resident of Matagorda County for the last 47 years and resided in Wadsworth for 26 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth. Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Genzer Gates; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Sandra Gates of League City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Johnny Layton Sr. of Wadsworth, Laura and Steve Evans of Barksdale, Karen and James Trobl of Bay City; two brothers, Rex Gates of Copperas Cove and Donald Gates of Pasadena; two sisters, LaVerne Gates Henderson of Angleton and Vonite Gates Droddy of Trinity; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one step-grandson and one step-great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Erwin and Chatman Gates and one step-brother, James F. Goodwin. Fred Gest Dies of
Burns Received in Boiler Blast Mr. Fred Christian Gest, 49, died at the Matagorda County hospital Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock from burns received Tuesday afternoon at 2:45 when the tubes blew out on the boiler on which Mr. Gest and Mr. Keener were working. Mr. Keener suffered severe and painful burns on the arms, face, and legs, mostly second degree burns. Funeral services will be held from Taylor Bros. Funeral Parlor, Friday, at 11 a. m. Reverend Marvin Vance will officiate and Taylor Bros. will be in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Gest is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Edna Gest Stevenson and Miss Dora Gest, one son, Fred F. Gest Jr. of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Wilde of Houston, Mrs. R. C. Foster of Newgulf, and Mrs. A. E. Wiebalk of San Francisco; three brothers, Albert, of Bay City, Otto of Boling and Adolph of Angleton.

Becoming alarmingly ill last night she was moved to the Loos hospital where every effort possible was made to save her life, but death came this morning. She is survived by her husband and children. Mrs. Roberta Capps Jamison Mrs. Roberta Capps Jamison, only child of Mrs. Mary Capps, died Friday evening at 8:25 o’clock at her mother’s home, corner Avenue I and Third, after an illness of about 48 hours, the immediate cause of her death being attributed to a stroke of apoplexy from which she never regained consciousness. Mrs. Jamison went to the Franklin Theater Wednesday evening and was in the act of entering when she lost control of herself and fell. Those near by rushed to her assistance and took her home. Medical assistance was summoned, but it was apparent from the first that her condition was hopeless. Even with the best of care and constant attention Mrs. Jamison was never rational again and passed away without speaking to or recognizing those about her. Decedent had spent most of her life in Bay City and was possessed of a large circle of friends who are grieved beyond words at her, seemingly, untimely death. She took a keen interest in social affairs and assisted in many of the functions in both the social and church life of the city, she being a member of the Episcopal faith. As a neighbor, she was considerate, accommodating, helpful. For the past 22 years the home of the writer has been all but her home and she seemed to be and practically was, one of our family. From this circle she will be missed almost as complete as from that of her own. Mrs. Jamison is survived by her mother, whose tender care and constant watchfulness sustained her in long attacks of illness. It was the most beautiful service of devotion we have ever known, this motherly love that hovered over and comforted her child through all the vicissitudes of the span of years they spent in day and night companionship. To this dear mother we can now only give sympathy. No comfort can come to her in this hour of grief. Only time and the ever watchful care of devoted friends can temper the sadness brought into her heart and home. And to the keeping of those who love her as we do, we commend her. Watch over her, love her, give her solace and comfort her, for her heart is sorely stricken and the weight of sadness is heavy upon her. We know how much she loved and we must love her more, now, because of that deathless devotion she gave her own. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock from the Episcopal Church, her pastor, Rev. Paul Engle in charge.
