Susanna Benavides, 68, of Bay City, died September 23, 2002, in Bay City. She was born August 11, 1934 in Bay City to the late Sebastian and Petra Hernandez Benavides. She was a member of Tempo Filadelphia Iglesia Santa Pentacostal Church.

Survivors include: four daughters and two sons-in-law, Petricia Benavides, Maria Salinas, Clara and Abel Hurtado, Sr. and Rosemary and Louis Matalbo, all of Bay City; son and daughter-in-law, John and Sylvia Benavides of Richwood, TX; sister, Margaret Carrion of Bay City; brothers, Louis and Tommy Benavides, both of Bay City; nine grandchildren; and special niece, Lydia Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Theresa Perez and Manuela Benavides; and by her Brothers, Juan and George Benavides.

A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edward Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Michael Perez, Arthur, John H. and Tommy Benavides, Jr., Michael Garcia and Abel H. Hurtado, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Benavides, Sr., and Ray Benavides, Jr.

June 24, 1895 – June 25, 1970

Donaciano C. Bustos, 75, a resident of Bay City for 34 years, passed away June 27 at Matagorda County Hospital. He is survived by: his wife Estefana Bustos; three daughters, Juanita Garcia of Bay City, Irene Kirkpatrick of San Antonio, Anselmo Guzman of Van Vleck; one son, Richard Bustos, Sr., of Bay City; two brothers, Jose Bustos of New York and Alcadio Bustos of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Taylor Brothers Chapel, June 29 at 3:00 PM with the Rev. F. P. Rugerio of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be held in Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Ybarro, Joe Garcia, Julio Zepeda, Ceasar Morales, and Reyes Hernandez.

Rosa Cantu

Rosa Cantu, 88, of Bay City passed away February 11, 1996 at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. She was born October 2, 1907 in Mexico to Macedonio and Francisca Cantu. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She is survived by one daughter, Ophelia C. Kidder of Sugarland, by two sons, Joe Cantu of Corpus Christi and Cande Cantu of Bay City, by one brother, Macedonio Cantu of Gral, Bravo, Mexico, by eighteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Oralia Cantu Rodriguez in 1964. A rosary will be said at 7:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 14, 1996 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Thursday, February 15, 1996 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Shannon and Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.
