Rogerio M. “Roy” Cantu, 62, of 2604 10th St. in Bay City, died Dec. 10, 1976 in M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was born Sept. 3, 1914 in Brownsville. He was custodian at First Methodist and had been a resident of Bay City since 1952. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elvia Cantu, of Bay City; one daughter, Mrs. Nilda Acosta of Houston; one son, Roger Cantu Jr. of San Antonio in the USAF; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Almarez and Mrs. Maria Trevino of Brownsville; one brother, Joe Torres and four grandchildren. Services were held Dec. 11 and 12 at our Lady of Guadalupe Church under the direction of Father Joseph Shannon. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Silveria A. Carrion

Silveria A. Carrion, 86, of Houston, died April 12, 2000 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Clear Lake. She was born June 20, 1913 in Mexico to the late Antonio and Abrana Santillan Acosta. Mrs. Carrion was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Houston, a resident of Houston for the past 20 years and a former resident of LaWard.

Survivors include: four daughters, Maria Santos Carrion of Alvin, Teodora Carrion and San Juanita C. Nunez both of Houston and Daria Muniz of Bay City; sisters, Barbara Perez of Bay City and Santos Cruz of Kansas City, Mo; brothers, Raymond Acosta of Harlingen and Primo Acosta of Houston; six grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Santos R. Carrion; two sisters, Marta Campos and Sista Cisneros; and by three brothers, Justo, Marcos, and Castulo Acosta.

Rosary will be 6 p.m. Sunday April 16, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday April 17, 2000 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Joe I. Nunes, Esmeralda C. Nunez, Teodora Carrion, Juanita Nunez, Maria Santos Carrion and Primo Acosta.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jessie DeLeon, 58, of Bay City will be held 9 a. m. Thursday at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Lange officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

A rosary will be held 7:15 p. m. today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. DeLeon was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Bay City to Jesse and Guadalupe Leal DeLeon and died Dec. 21, 1987, at Veterans Hospital, Houston.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include his mother, Guadalupe Leal DeLeon of Bay City, six daughters, Maria Briseno of Rosharon, Esperanza DeLeon, Debbie Gill and Becky Soria,both of Angleton, Sandra Fernandez of Pearland and Caren DeLeon of Seattle, Wash.; four sons, Jesse DeLeon Jr., Joe Anthony DeLeon and Joe John DeLeon, all of Angleton, and Jesse Mark DeLeon of Bay City; a sister, Julia Garcia of Bay City; two step-daughters, Dianna Gutierrez of Houston and Lavada Orrick of Bay City; a stepson, Cecil Viands of Houston; and 28 grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Cecil Viands, Jesse Gutierrez, Joe Gutierrez, Ray Servantez, Marcos Perez and Manuel Servantez.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.

Petra P. Enriquez, 87, of Bay City passed away Thursday, October 14, 2004, from a sudden illness.

She was born in Marfa, Texas on January 29, 1917, and was a longtime citizen of Bay City.

She is survived by: her husband, Panfilo Enriquez, Jr., of Bay City; three sons, Johnny Enriquez of Boling, Jessie Enriquez of Old Ocean, and Bennie Enriquez of Wharton; also seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 16, at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Saul Garcia officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers will be Edwardo Cantu, Elias Marin, Jesse Robles, Michael Gonzales, Billy Wooderson, and Wilbur Vaclavick.

Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.

Escilla Rangel Escamilla, 85, of Bay City died November 15, 2005 at Bay Villa Nursing Center. She was born February 14, 1920 in West Columbia, TX to the late Francisco and Clementa DeSantiago Rangel. Mrs. Escamilla was a life long resident of Bay City and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include: 5 daughters & a son-in-law: Lupe Reyes of Santa Fe, TX, Margaret Garay, Janie Garay, and Yolanda & Jorge Paredes all of Bay City, and Rachael Valdez of Freeport; 4 sons & 3 daughters-in-law: Louis & Mary Esther Escamilla of San Antonio, Joe & Georgia Escamilla of Texas City, Leroy Escamilla of Bay City and Tony & Lucy Arias of Clute; sisters: Mary Charles of Houston and Margaret Barefield of Port Lavaca; brothers: Ray and Louis Rangel both of Bay City, and Juan Rangel of Houston; 45 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Escamilla; daughter: Mary Hinajosa; sister: Clara Rangel; grandchild: Ignacio Reyes; and 2 great grandchildren: Gilbert Garay Jr & Steven Garay Jr. Rosary was 7:30 PM Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the Funeral Mass was 10:00 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. BAY CITY - Dominga Estrada, 84, of Bay City, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003.

She was born Dec. 20, 1918, in San Benito to the late Pedro and Desideria Carrion Estrada. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors: sisters, Carmel Rodriguez of Van Vleck and Virginia Rodriguez of Beeville; and brothers, Natividad Estrada Sr. of Bay City and Fortunato Estrada of Houston.

Preceded in death by: sister, Juanita Paz; and brothers, Antonio Estrada and Benito Estrada.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating.

Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, 979-245-4613.
