Dr. William Saunders Baldwin

Dr. William Saunders Baldwin (09 Aug 1864 - 31 May 1942), son of Benjamin Joseph Baldwin, Sr. (23 Jun 1828 - 04 Apr 1897) and Willie Catharine Saunders Baldwin (18 Sep 1832 - 12 Dec 1879). He and his twin brother, George, were born in Georgia. His family was living in Cuthbert, Randolph County, Georgia in 1870 and in Paris, Lamar County, Texas in 1880. In 1895, he was married to Edith "Eddie" S. _____ Baldwin. In 1900, the Baldwins and son, Edmond B. (b Feb 1898) were living in Paris. Dr. Baldwin and his family were living in Palacios in 1910. Mrs. Baldwin apparently divorced between 1910 and 1920 as Dr. Baldwin and Edmond, a civil engineer, were living in Mineral Wells, Texas (NE 1st Avenue) in 1920 and Dr. Baldwin is listed as divorced. In 1930, Dr. Baldwin was still living in Mineral Wells with wife, Fannie Tabitha "Bye" Rogers Baldwin, age 43, daughter, Katherine age 4 and Fannie's mother, Lula P. Rogers, age 65. They were married c 1921. Fannie B. Rogers was living in in Mineral Wells in 1920 and was a high school teacher. In 1940 the family had moved to Dallas and in the household were: Dr. Baldwin, Fannie, Catherine, Lula P. Rogers and Fannie's sister, Ethel Rogers.
 


Funeral Services Held For Veteran Texas Physician

Funeral services for Dr. William S. Baldwin, 78, veteran North Texas physician for half a century who died in a local hospital Sunday, were conducted Monday in the Guardian Funeral Chapel by Dr. William R. Potter. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.

Dr. Baldwin, born in Cuthbert, Ga., was brought to Texas by his parents when he was a small boy. They settled in Paris where he entered the pharmacy business and later practiced medicine. For many years he practiced in Mineral Wells but retired and came to Dallas eight years ago. He was an elder in the East Dallas Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Dr. Baldwin are his wife; a daughter, Miss Catherine Baldwin, both of Dallas, and one son, Edward B. Baldwin, Houston.

Additional Information

Mrs. Dr. Baldwin returned home last week from Waco where she went to attend the Grand Lodge of the Eastern Star.
