Dr. Walter Box, the son of Roland Henry Box and Martha A. Barrett Box, was born August 24, 1865 in Texas and died June 30, 1928 at Santa Rosa Infirmary in San Antonio, Texas. According to his death certificate, he was living at the Hamilton Hotel. He was buried at Mission Burial Park in San Antonio. He married Ada Chatman Box, the daughter of John Cheesman, who was born May 10, 1861 in Pennsylvania and died November 14, 1913 in San Antonio, Texas. She was buried at Cedarvale Cemetery, in Bay City, Section 2, Block 59. The death certificate recorded her address as 122 W. Houston, Ward 4, San Antonio, with the former or usual address as Houston, Texas.

Louisiana and rents from Dr. W. F. Box. Mr. Hall has 30 acres of
very good corn; he planted 75 acres of cotton, but the recent heavy
rains destroyed it. He is preparing to plant over. Dr. W. F. Box's farm will produce 200 bales of cotton and 5,000 barrels of corn this season. Word has been received of the death in San Antonio Saturday of Dr. W. F. Box, formerly of Mexia. Dr. Box is well known in Mexia. He and Mrs. Box were residents of Mexia when he was interested in and operated the National and Palacios Theaters. After disposing of his interests here they moved to Waco where he was owner of the Orpheum and National Theaters.

Word was received here today of the death of Mrs. Ada Chapman Box, formerly a resident of this county, but of recent years of San Antonio. The death occurred in that city this morning at 8:45. The remains will be shipped to Bay City and interred in Cedarvale Cemetery at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon. The funeral will be from the Episcopal Church, Rev. John Sloan, officiating. Mrs. Box was born in Scranton, Pa., fifty-three years ago. She was married to Dr. W. F. Box and moved to Matagorda County, settling on what is known as Buckner’s Prairie where the doctor owns a large body of land. Several years ago, after having contracted tuberculosis, Dr. Box and his wife moved to San Antonio where they have since resided. The move proved beneficial in that it checked the ravages of the disease but it did not effect a permanent cure and her death resulted. The couple had no children and the doctor is the sole survivor. The active pall bearers are C. M. Stegar, Ernest Ratcliff, S. S. Moore, E. M. Bell, Louis LeTulle and O. J. Doubek. The honorary pall bearers are E. L. Perry, P. M. Bowie, Henry Rugeley, John Sutherland, Sol J. Cleveland and Wm. E. Austin.

Dr. A. F. Box was the younger brother of Dr. Walter F. Box. Apparently Dr. A. F. Box never lived and worked as a physician in Matagorda County permanently, but he did work with his brother on the Matagorda County plantation in the early 1900s. BOX DEAD
Dr. A. F. Box, 62 years, a native
Texan and retired physician, died at his home, 1722 East Commerce
Street, yesterday morning at 9:45 o’clock. Dr. Box is survived by
his wife, Mrs. Laura A. Box; two sons, Laurence A. and Roland B.;
and daughter, Mrs. B. O. Anderson, all of San Antonio.
