Dr. Charlton E. Dawson

Dr. Charlton E. Dawson served as Chief of Staff in 1971 at Matagorda General Hospital, a member of the Four County Medical Society and served on the Courtesy Staff of Caney Valley Memorial Hospital in Wharton. Graduated from Prairie View A. & M. with B. S. and UTMB in Galveston for his medical degree in 1960. He served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1961. Died in an automobile/train accident coming from the hospital after delivering a baby. [museum file]

Dr. Charlton Elmo Dawson, 49, of Bay City died Monday, February 16, 1981.His church affiliation was Baptist and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Patricia Dawson of Bay City; children, Charlton Elmo Dawson Jr. and Lynn Elaine Dawson of Houston and Conya Eilette Dawson of Bay City; step-son, Samuel Eugene Robinson of Bay City; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Dawson of Wharton; sister, Mrs. Carol Ann Myers of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Diane Marie Bradley of San Pedro, California: brother, Dr. Delbert Dawson of Houston, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Delilah Dawson of Houston; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, other relatives and a family of friends. Funeral services will be held at the Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City Saturday, February 21, at 11:30 a. m. with Rev. A. H. Pointer officiating. Interment will be held at New Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mackey, Texas. Visitation hours are tonight at the Funeral Home from 4 p. m. to 9 p. m. Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
