Dr. Norval Pembrook Knight
September 29, 1869 - May 10, 1956

Dr. Knight, son of Edward Mortimer Knight (1830 - 1924) and Mary L. Few Knight (1835 - 1904) was born in Monmouth, Warren Co., Illinois and died in Pinellas County, Florida. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Benton County, Iowa.

On May 29, 1901 in Van Buren County, Iowa, he first married Georgia Winifred Duckworth Knight (December 1, 1871 Floris, Davis County, Iowa - August 14, 1922, Vinton, Benton Co., Iowa) daughter of Dee Duckworth and Susan Hunter Duckworth.

They moved to Collegeport and Dr. Knight purchased Lot 41 in Block 2 of the Ace of Clubs Ranch from the Burton D. Hurd Land Company.

Dr. and Mrs. Knight were members of the First Church of Collegeport - Federated. Church records indicated they had moved by October 27, 1913

Dr. N. P. Knight was a member of the Vinton Masonic Lodge, No. 62, Vinton, Iowa, in 1918.

On May 24, 1918, Dr. Knight traveled from New York City to France during WWI for duty with the A. E. F. in connection work with the Y. M. C. A. He was described as being 48 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall, medium forehead, blue eyes, large nose, medium mouth, medium chin, black hair sprinkled with gray, fair complexion and oval face.

Included with the passport was a document from the National War Work Council of the Young Men's Christian Associations of the United States.

Enters Y. M. C. A. War Work

Farmington, May 29.--Dr. N. P. Knight and wife of Vinton visited over Sunday at the Dr. C. L. Paisley home. Dr. Knight was invited to talk to the Congregational Sunday School Sunday morning about the Y. M. C. A. war work as he has enlisted as assistant secretary for this work. He expects to report in New York, June 3, for duty and from there expects to go to France. He and his wife left Tuesday for Salem to visit his father, E. M. Knight. Dr, N. P. Knight, formerly of Farmington, recently received his discharge from the army, his rank being lieutenant, and he and his wife have been visiting with relatives here and at Keosauqua. He will soon resume his practice at Vinton.--The Daily Gate City, Keokuk, Iowa, September 12, 1919
