CLAY MOORE M. D.

Dr. Moore was born to Judge L. W. and Anne Wright Moore on February 2, 1874 in LaGrange, Fayette County, Texas and died August 27, 1942 in Hebbronville, Jim Hogg County, Texas. He is buried at Old LaGrange City Cemetery in La Grange, Fayette County, Texas.

Dr. Clay Moore and Natt Hohlman came over last Wednesday from LaGrange, their old home, en route to Wharton County, where Dr. Moore is located in the practice of his profession. Weimar Mercury, May 1, 1897

Clay Moore, M. D. joined the Ashby Methodist Episcopal Church in Ashby on August 15, 1897.

Dr. Moore and Maide Dunbar (Oct. 17, 1879 - Jan. 28, 1963) were married by J. J. Calloway in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Ashby on June 28, 1900.Maide was the daughter of David Dunbar and Jane Gyle Dunbar. Maide had become a member of the church on August 20, 1899.

Dr. Clay Moore returned from Houston Saturday evening where he had been to see an ear specialist and who performed an operation successfully on one of the doctor's ears. After getting up from his late sickness Dr. Moore was bothered with gatherings in his ear, not being able to hear, and after treating it for sometime, with no improvement, he went to Houston where the operation was successfully performed and he is able to hear again as well as ever. Palacios Using Preventives - Palacios, Tex., Jan. 19--The city council at its regular meeting placed in the hands of Mayor D. Ruthven and City Health Physician Clay Moore full authority for the sanitation of the city from meningitis. While there has been no case here, the authorities believe "an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure,: and have placed a partial quarantine on Palacios. The mayor issued a "cleanup day" proclamation and everything is as neat as a pin. The teachers in the public schools and all scholars are compelled to use such disinfectants as have been recommended by the state health officer. Galveston Daily News, January 20, 1912

Mrs. Maide D. Moore Dies in Houston, Buried In Ashby

Funeral services for Mrs. Maide Dunbar Moore, 83, of Houston were held at 10 a. m. Wednesday, January 30 at the Settegast-Kopf chapel followed by interment at 1 p. m. in the Ashby Cemetery.

A native of Ashby, she had lived in Houston 33 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. L. W. Moore, Houston, and David D. Moore, Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Kate McKissick, Markham, Mrs. Lois McKissick, Houston and Mrs. Hilby Penny, Bay City and a brother, Calvin Dunbar of Houston.
