Aaron immediately became active in the civic affairs of Bay City and Matagorda County. In recognition of his contribution to civic activities he was designated by the Bay City Chamber of Commerce as “Outstanding Citizen” in the year 1957. He was active in the Girl Scout movement in Bay City and was one of the signers of the note which made it possible for the Girl Scout “Little House” to be built. He helped to organize the first Kiwanis Club in Bay City. He was a charter member of the Bay City Lion’s Club and served as the first Rice Festival chairman. He was the first Bay City Lion to be honored with a life membership. He and his daughter, Henrietta, were instrumental in helping to establish the Texas Lion’s Crippled Children’s Camp at Kerrville, Texas. They both became life members of the camp organization.
Aaron worked diligently with the Boy Scout program in Matagorda County on a district level and was honored by them with the Silver Beaver award. He was active in the Bay City Chamber of Commerce, a founder of Beth David Center, and a sixty year member of B’nai B’rith. He belonged to and served as a director of Shearith Israel Synagogue in Wharton. Aaron was a supporter of the State of Israel, and he and Minnie were honored by the State of Israel Bonds. For many years he worked in charge of ticket collectors for the Bay City football team, and until interscholastic league rule outlawed it, he sat with the team on their bench as their “good luck man.” He was a Master Mason, a Shriner, and served as Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.
Minnie worked at Oshman Dry Goods through out her life, and was still able to be a full-time mother to her three children. She also helped her family in Israel financially. She was an active member of Wharton Chapter of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, serving as local life membership chairman for many years. She was a member of the Shearith Israel Synagogue, Shearith Israel Sisterhood, and the Bay City Order of the Eastern Star.
Minnie died in 1970; Aaron died in 1980.

Aaron Greenberg, 88, of Bay City, died at his residence May 31. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Minnie Greenberg. Survivors include: son, Milton Greenberg of Bay City; daughters Mrs. Helen G. Kasman and Mrs. Henrietta G. Krumholz of Bay City; eight grandchildren, Dr. Franklin G. Kasman of Austin, Mrs. Annette S. Stool of Del Rio, Mr. Larry Greenberg of Bay City, Ms. Judy Greenberg of Houston, Mr. Karl Krumholz of Philadelphia, Mrs. Roeann Rosenthal of Ft. Worth, Dr. Richard Krumholz of Galveston and Mrs. Pearlynne Kudisch of Pandova, Italy; four great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Sunday, June 1 at 5 p. m. with the Rabbi Theodore Sanders officiating. Interment was held at the Shearith Israel Cemetery in Wharton with nephews and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Pioneer Entrepreneur Leaves Legacy in Community Involvement Aaron Greenberg, founder, part owner and manager of Oshman Dry Goods, died at his residence in Bay City May 31. Mr. Greenberg, 88, came to Bay City with his family in 1929 and was an active citizen in the area for many years. He was chairman of the first Bay City Lions Club Rice Festival and one of the original Lions who established the Crippled Children Camp in Kerrville. He was presented a Lions lifetime membership and was a charter member of the Bay City Lions Club. Founder of the Beth David Center in Bay City, Mr. Greenberg was a member of the B'Nai Brith Lodge for more than 50 years. Mr. Greenberg was voted the Outstanding Male Citizen of 1957 by the Bay City Chamber of Commerce. He worked with Girl Scouts and helped to build the Girl Scout Little House. He was considered Barbecue King of this area and once prepared it for over 5000 people wheh President Lyndon B. Johnson (then senator) came to Bay City. He was founder and director until two years ago of Bay City Federal Savings and Loan. He was a member and past member of the board of Shearith Israel Synagogue in Wharton. Graveside services were held for Mr. Greenberg, with the Rabbi Theodore Sanders officiating in Shearith Israel Synagogue in Wharton on Sunday.

GREENBERG, Minnie Rich, 74, a past president of Bay City since 1929 passed away in the Methodist Hospital in Houston June 14 at 1:30 a. m. She is survived by her husband Aaron Greenberg, two daughters, Mrs. David Krumholz and Mrs. Jake Kasman of Bay City, one son, Milton Greenberg of Bay City, one sister, Mrs. Meyer Nathan of Houston. Services will be held at the Shearith Israel Synagogue in Wharton June 15, 11 a.m. with Rabbi Israel Rosenberg. Interment will be held in the Shearith Israel Cemetery in Wharton under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Herman, Nathan, Hershal and Marvin Rich, Dr. Frank Kasman, Karl Krumholz, Larry Greenberg, Michael Stool, and Richard Krumholz. Milton
Greenberg, 92, passed away April 4, 2015.
A
native Houstonian, his family moved to Bay City, TX, in 1929. After
graduation from Bay City High School, he enrolled at the University
of Texas, where he was a charter member of the AEPi fraternity.
After the start of World War II, his Sr. year of college, he joined
the US Navy, and served on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. He
was proud to have been an Eagle Scout, member of B’nai Brith, active
in the Shearith Israel Congregation in Wharton, TX, Beth David
Center in Bay City, TX, and a charter member and past president of
the Bay City Kiwanis club. Milton is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sarah Lee.
He is
survived by his son, Larry Greenberg; his daughter, Judy Bleiweiss
and husband, Freddie; granddaughters, Erin and Rikki Bleiweiss;
sister, Henrietta Krumholz; brother-in-law, Melvin Lewis and wife
Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at
Beth Yeshurun/Shearith Israel Cemetery, Wharton, TX, with Rabbi
David Rosen, officiating.
