Edna People in Auto Wreck Here Tuesday

Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Singleton and son, Tommy, and Miss Edna Queen, of Edna, were in an auto wreck Tuesday afternoon on the highway about two miles north of this city. They had been here visiting their daughter, Mrs. George Hunter, and were on their way home when the accident occurred, in which Mrs. Singleton had her left arm broken in two places and Mr. Singleton received a fractured upper jaw and badly lacerated lip which had to have several stitches. The other two occupants were not badly injured, a few scratches and bad shakeup.

Tommy was doing the driving and just before reaching the cross-road he noticed a wagon and team coming from the West and honked his horn. The driver of the team did not see him or hear the horn as he kept right on and to avoid a collision Tommy took to the ditch and in doing so the car pitched forward with such force as to throw Mr. Singleton against the instrument board and Mrs. Singleton, who was in the rear seat, hit the back of the front seat.

Passers-by brought the injured to town, where their wounds were given proper attention, and they were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hunter, where they are now doing as well as could be expected.

The car was not badly wrecked, a broken windshield and bent axle being about the extent of the damage. The occupants of the wagon were Mr. and Mrs. Jett, and they escaped with no injury except a bad scare.
