Harriett Amboree

Funeral services for Harriett Amboree, 101, of Pledger will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Grove Hill Baptist Church, Pledger, with the Rev. Frank Cones officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Pledger.

Friends may call from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. Friday at Dixon Funeral Home, Brazoria, and from 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday at the church. A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Amboree died May 8, 1989, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Wharton.

She was a member of Grove hill Baptist Church and the Court of Calanthe.

Survivors include six sons, Floyd Amboree of Pledger, Junious Amboree, the Rev. C. W. Amboree and Travis Amboree, all of Houston, J. D. Amboree of West Columbia and Hilliard Amboree of Waldolf, Md.; four daughters, Ruby Williams of Pledger, Ruth Marshall and Eliza Odom, both of Houston, and Sidney Higgins of West Columbia; two sisters, Louisa Laws and Alice Rutherford of Houston; 51 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; and 55 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Johnson Williams Jr., the Rev. Thomas Lemon Jr., J. C. Amboree, Odell Marshall, Gregory Amboree and Jimmie Williams.

Honorary pallbearers include Floyd, Junius, the Rev. C. W., Travis, J. D. and Hilliard Amboree.

Arrangements are with Dixon Funeral Home, Brazoria.

Lenora Bedford Amboree

Funeral services for Lenora Bedford Amboree, 95, of Pledger, were held Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. D. Bloundt eulogist. Burial followed at Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation was held Tuesday until 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

She was born in Wallis, Texas, Monday, December 26, 1904, to Noah Bedford and Catherine Long Bedford, and passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at her residence in Pledger.

Survivors include: daughter, Dorothy Spradley of Pledger, step-son, L. B. Watkins of Los Angeles, Calif.; two step-daughters, Clara Wiley of Wharton and Rosabell Sheperd of Hitchcock; eight grandchildren, Erma King Matthews of Boling, Unice Spradley and Robert Spradley of Pledger, Jerry Traylor of Houston, Darlene Spradley-Lowe, Clarence Spradley and Ollistine Johnson, all of Bay City, and Rodney Spradley of Wharton; 26 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers were Unice Spradley, Jr., Rodney Spradley, Robert Spradley, Lewis Traylor, Randy Roberts and Johnson Williams, Jr.

Jessie Mae Amey

Funeral services for Jessie Mae Amey, 62, of Houston, will be held Saturday, October 20, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, with the Rev. Melvin Delany, eulogist. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be Friday from noon until 4 p.m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, and from 6 til 8 p.m. at South Park Baptist Church, 6830 Van Fleet (southwest) Houston.

She was born in Pledger, Texas, Sunday, July 23, 1939, to Johnson Williams and Ruby Amboree Williams, and passed away Friday, October 12, 2001, at Ben Taub Hospital, Houston, Texas.

Survivors include: three children, Jimmy Williams of Pearland, Michael Amey and Ursula Amey Bellar, both of Houston; also nine grandchildren; Michael, Jr., Gregory, Jr., Nicholis, Brandon, Tiffany, Jonathan, Malik, Joseph and Shamere; one great grandson, Trevon; seven sisters, Vera
Waddy and Mable Brown of Pledger, Joyce Williams of Houston, Queen Ester Easton, Harriet Williams, Frances Hall and Amanda Williams, all of San Antonio, and three brothers, Johnson Williams Jr. of Boling, Roger Williams and Mark Williams of Pledger; also a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and family of friends.

Mamie Bolin

Bolin, Mrs. Mamie, 33, died Monday, June 1, 1970, in Ben Taub Hospital, Houston, Texas. Funeral services have been arranged for Saturday, June 6, 1 p. m., Grove Hill Baptist Church, Pledger, minister officiating to be announced. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery also in Pledger. Survivors: two sons: Glen Aldin McCoy, Pledger, Herbert Lloyd Johnson, Houston. Four daughters: Mrs. Jacylin Johnson, San Francisco, Calif., Genett Marica Johnson, Sharlett Yvett Bolen, Linda Parttricia Bolden, Houston. Two brothers: Ivan Jackson, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vernell McCoy, Wharton. Five Sisters: Mrs. Gladys Stewart, San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Lillie Pearl Buckner, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Suslencr Brussard, Mrs. Charline Sancho, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Armstrong all of Houston. Kermit Brown, Sr.
Dec. 3, 1936 – Feb. 19, 2012

Funeral services for Kermit Brown, Sr., 75, of Pledger, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Derrick Blount, eulogist. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery.

He was born in Bay City, Texas, December 3, 1936, to James Brown, Sr. and Rutha Parks Brown, and passed away February 19, 2012, in Pledger, Texas.

Survivors include: one son, Kermit Brown Jr. of Wallis, Texas; three daughters, Vanessa Parks of Bay City, Rosalind Diggs and Kerrenda Brown, both of Houston; and a stepson, Fred Middleton; also two grandchildren, Herman and Shonette Brown; one great-grandson, Jaeden Ward. Also two brothers, Johnnie Brown of Wharton and A.J. Brown of Bay City; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mable Delores Brown

Funeral services for Mable Delores Brown, 63, of Pledger, will be held Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. , at Grove Hill Baptist Church, Pledger, with the Rev. Derrick Blount, eulogist. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

She was born in Pledger, Texas, July 30, 1942, to Johnson Williams and Ruby Amboree Williams, and passed away May 19, 2006, at the Methodist Hospital, Houston.

Survivors include: her husband, Kermit Brown of Pledger; and two daughters, Rosalyn Biggs of San Antonio and Kerenda Brown of Houston. Also four sisters, Queen Easter, Frances Hall and Harriett Williams all of San Antonio, and Joyce Williams of Houston, and three brothers, Mark Williams, Johnson Williams, Jr., and Roger Williams, all of Pledger. Also a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
