John Waddy

Funeral services for John Waddy, 25, of Boling will be held noon Saturday at Grove Hill Baptist Church, Boling, with the Rev. Frank Cones officiating. Burial to follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Pledger.

Friends and family may call until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mr. Waddy was born March 13, 1964, in New Gulf to Roland and Eulalia Gailes Waddy and died Jan. 15, 1990, in Wharton County, Texas, as a result of a car-tractor accident.

He was a Bay City mail carrier and a veteran. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Waddy Sr. of Boling; a brother, Roland Waddy Jr. of Ontario Calif.; three sisters, Shelia Laws of Iago, Hilaine Waddy of Pledger and Jacquelyn E. Dorsey of Hungerford; grandparents, Charity Gailes of Pledger, Cora Lee Waddy of Iago and Catherine Waddy of Boling; four uncles, Chester Thomas, Clarence Gailes, Watson Gailes and L. E. Miles of Houston; three nieces, LaKeisha Laws, Trinette Waddy and Sayjel Waddy; three nephews, Justin Dorsey, David Laws, Kenneth Dorsey; a great-aunt; a great-uncle; five great-great-uncles and several cousins and friends.

Pallbearers include David Laws, Mack Waddy, Kenneth Dorsey, A. J. Johnson, Chris Moore and Earnest R. Moore.

Honorary pallbearers include Roland S. Waddy Jr., James Miles, L. E. Miles Chester Thomas, Clarence Gailes and Watson Gailes.

Robert Waddy, age 60, of Pledger, Texas passed away September 7, 2019 in Houston, Texas.

He was born in Pledger, Texas on October 29, 1958 to Robert James Waddy and Vera Mae Williams Waddy.

Visitation and guest book registry will be Friday, September 13, 2019 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Bay City, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, Texas, with burial to follow at Grove Hill Cemetery.

Vera M. Waddy

PLEDGER - Vera Mae Waddy, 67, of Pledger, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005.

She was born March 28, 1938, in Pledger, to the late Johnson Sr. and Ruby Amboree Williams.

Survivors: daughter, Carolyn Waddy of Angleton; sons, Robery Waddy and Dietrich Waddy, both of Pledger, Ronald Waddy of San Antonio, Carlton Waddy and Jerome Waddy, both of Wharton, and Anthony Waddy of Bay City; sisters, Mable Borwn of Pledger, Queen Easton, Frances Hall, and Harriett Williams, all of San Antonio, and Joyce Williams of Houston; brothers, Mark Williams, Johnson Williams Jr., and Roger Williams, all of Pledger; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. tonight at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, the Rev. Derrick Blount officiating.

Martha Washington

Ms. Washington was born Feb. 6, 1943 in Wharton County to Ella B. Washington and died May 25, 1993 at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include two sons, Darryl Washington of Magnolia and David Washington of Pledger; her mother, Ella Washington of Pledger; two brothers, Daniel Washington of Pledger and Elmo Robinson of Houston; and a host of other relatives.

Ruby Amboree-Williams

Funeral services for Ruby Amboree-Williams, 74, of Pledger will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Frank Cones officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from noon to 1 p. m. Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Amboree-Williams was born Aug. 2, 1916, to James and Harriett Rutherford Amboree in Pledger and died Sept. 10, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by eight daughters, Vera Waddy of Pledger, Mable Delores Brown of Bay City, Amanda Williams, Jessie Amey and Joyce Williams of Houston, Queen Esther Easter, Frances Hall and Harriett Williams of San Antonio; three sons, Roger Williams and Mark Williams of Pledger and Johnson Williams Jr. of Iago.

She is also survived by three sisters, Ruth Marshall and Eliza Odom of Houston and Sidney Higgins of West Columbia; six brothers, Floyd Amboree of Pledger, Junious Amboree, the Rev. C. W. Amboree and Travis Amboree of Houston, J. D. Amboree of West Columbia and Hillard Amboree of Waldolf, Md.; two daughters-in-law, Arice Williams of Iago and Kathy Williams of Pledger, two sons-in-law, Ervin Wade Easter of San Antonio and Kermit Brown of Bay City; a devoted friend, Cindy Lou of Pledger, 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Pallbearers are Anthony Waddy, Carlton Waddy, Dietrich Waddy, Raymond Jackson, Richard O’Neal and Jimmy Williams.

Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Amboree, Floyd Amboree, Robert Wady, Johnson Williams Jr., Mark Williams, Roger Williams and Ronald Waddy.

Willie Williams

Funeral services for Willie Williams, 66, of Bay City, will be held at 2 p. m Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. K. D. Green, eulogist.

He was born in Pledger, Texas, July 20, 1938, to U. L. Williams and Z. L. Jefferson Williams, and passed away April 25, 2005, in Bay City, Texas.

Survivors include: six daughters, Joyce Davis, Cheryl and Larry Thomas and Trina James, all of Bay City, Laverne and Emmette Gipson and Meka and Patrick Punch, all of Houston, and Roberta and Louis Anderson of Freeport; one son, Willie Williams, Jr. of Bay City; and a host of other relatives.

Willie Lee Williams

Funeral services for Willie Lee Williams, 94, of Bay City will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, Rev. Derrick Blount officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Friday until 9 p. m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel, and from 10 until 11 a. m. Saturday at the church.

Williams was born in Pledger July 12, 1904 to Tom Thompson and Rose Gayle Thompson, and died Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Bay Villa Nursing Home. She was a faithful member of Grove Hill Baptist church and kept the faith throughout her life. “Miss Daughter,” as she was affectionately known in the community, was a kind friend to all she met. She always wore a radiant smile and willingly offered motherly advice to those who sought wisdom. By her passing, she will be sorely missed.

Williams is survived by grandson, Willie Williams, Sr. of Bay City; great grandchildren, Cheryl Thomas (and Larry), Joyce Davis (and Larry), Willie Williams, Jr., and Trina James (and J. L.), all of Bay City, Lavern Gipson (and Emmit), and MeKa Williams, both of Houston, Roberta Anderson (and Louis) of Freeport, and Audrey Williams of Port Arthur; 16 great great grandchildren; 15 great great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including, Mattie Jean Barnes of Bay City and Rose Lee Woodard of Houston; and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Williams; son, U. L. Williams, sister, Viola; and brothers, Thurman, Derbie, and Horace.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Williams, Sr., Willie Williams, Jr., Larry Thomas, Emmit Gipson, Larry Davis, Louis Anderson, J. L. James, and the great great and great great great grandsons.
