Gold Star Mothers Buried at Cedarvale Cemetery
 


Earnest Ruben Blaylock
February 11, 1901 – June 1, 1959

Earnest is buried in Cedarvale Cemetery, Section 5, Row 3 beside his second wife, Ressie L. (Hale) Blaylock (April 20, 1908 – November 16, 1982). His son Fireman Third Class Clarence Arvin Blaylock (October 6, 1921 – December 7, 1941) United States Navy was Killed In Action aboard the battleship USS Oklahoma BB 37 during the surprise Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.  His remains were not recovered after the ship capsized and sank in the harbor and is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, HI. Clarence’s mother, Coye Inez (Hawkins) Blaylock (November 30, 1901 – September 23, 1978) and father divorced sometime before 1930.  Coye later remarried to Ralph L. Nelson (February 6, 1894 – February 14, 1962) and they are buried at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. A memorial marker for Arvin was placed at the foot of Earnest’s grave. At the time of Arvin’s death his father was living in Bay City, Texas.

 

Forest R. Foster
October 30, 1889 – February 14, 1962

Forest is buried in Cedarvale Cemetery, Section 3, Row 15. His son Staff Sergeant William Newton Foster (June 11, 1917 – November14, 1943) United States Army Air Forces is buried next to him. William was inducted into the military May 18, 1942. He trained at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas and earned his silver wings at Ft. Myers, FL. He had trained as an aerial gunner, mechanic, and machinist. He was shipped overseas in September 1943 and was attached to the 310th Bombardment Group, 47th Wing in North Africa, and was killed in a crash two months later, on November 14, 1943. His mother, Lula May (Troutman) Foster (November 26, 1893 – December 10, 1971) is buried in the City of Altoona Cemetery, Altoona, Wilson County, Kansas. at the time of William’s death his family was living in Garwood, Texas.

 

Lawrence Everett LeTulle, Sr.
October 13, 1879 – February 21, 1936

Lawrence is buried in Cedarvale Cemetery, Section 4, Row 11. His son Lt(jg) Lawrence “Larry” Everett LeTulle (April 27, 1918 – December 12, 1944) United States Naval Reserves was killed in a shipboard accident aboard the USS Boulder Victory (AK 227) on December 12, 1944 in the Pacific Theater near the island of Peleliu. He was buried at sea with full military honors. His name is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.  Larry’s mother Winifred “Winnie” (Wilson) LeTulle (September 12, 1890 – September 10, 1956) and father divorced sometime before 1936. Winnie later married Wesley Frank Brewer (February 1, 1898 – November 20, 1957) a WWI veteran, and they are buried in an unmarked grave at Greenwood Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. At the time of Larry’s death his father had died before him in Rosenberg, Texas.

 

William Daniel “Dan” O’Rear
July 20, 1882 – December 12, 1957

Dan is buried in Cedarvale Cemetery, Section 6, Row 11. His son Private Franklin Travis “Sonny” O’Rear (September 2, 1919 – July 23, 1937) United States Army, enlisted in October 1936 and was assigned to Troop “F”, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division stationed at Fort Ringgold, Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas. While performing guard duty on two prisoners, his horse began to buck and threw him to the ground. He died at the station hospital, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas from a skull fracture and severe concussion. Sonny is buried at Cedarvale Cemetery, Section 4, Row 12 next to his grandmother Emma O’Rear (September 26, 1860 – April 6, 1940). His mother, Prudie (Allen) O’Rear (September 25, 1882 – September 11, 1945) died at Lubbock, Texas and was buried in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
