Death of Capt. Stith

Capt. Frank Stith, for nearly 20 years past well known in patent business circles of this city, died, last night, at his residence on the Grant place. Capt. Stith is of an old Virginia family of that name, but was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., and in war saw much service in West Tennessee, being an officer on the staff of Gen. Forrest. He had been for years afflicted with rheumatism, which finally involved his heart.--The Daily American, Nashville, TN, May 2, 1885

Additional information from The Evening Star, Washington, D. C., May 1, 1885

Capt. Stith was never married and left no family here, but many friends will be pained to hear of his death.
