Emily Mae "Noonie" Boone Williams

Emily Mae Boone, the youngest of two children of the parentage of (now the late) Levi Boone and Irene Harris Boone, was born on Tuesday, October 18, 1921, in Matagorda County, Collegeport, Texas, and spent her childhood in and around that community along with other sisters and brothers.

Her education was received from the Wilson Creek Public School in El Maton, Texas, where she learned that "if ye train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it."

At an early age, she decided to "choose ye this day whom ye shall serve;" thus, accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized and became a lifetime member of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Markham.

Miss Emily Mae Boone became the wife of Mr. Jesse Williams of Markham, the son of (now the late) Pink Williams and Hester Tone Williams. For many years, they shared their lives, love and loyalty with fifteen children, of whom fourteen reached maturity; namely, Jessie Lee, Clyde B., Wanda, Leatha, Carnell, Irene, Jeanette, Daniel, Ralph, Otto, Hester, Anna, Jeff and Rita Williams.

"Mama Noonie," as she was widely know by her caring family and friends, was a woman of great wit, wisdom and strength providing her family with the motherly love they desired and needed. In this family of closeness, "Mama Noonie" enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and greatly admired the affection she received from them. In her declining years and even her final hours, this same genuine love and utmost care was restored.

Her transition from this life to life eternal came on Monday, March 7, 1994, in Wharton, Texas, at 72 years, 4 months and 17 days, comforting her family with the thought that "I'm ready to go home" and yet revealing the scripture that is written, "the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." By her passing, she leaves beautiful memories to a wonderful family and fourteen children which consist of seven daughters, Mrs. Jessie Lee Parr, Mrs. Wanda Flagg, Ms. Jeannette "Sudie" Williams, Mrs. Hester Edison, Ms. Anna Williams and Ms. Rita Williams, all of Bay City, and Mrs. Leatha Jackson of Austin, and six sons, Clyde B. Williams of Austin, Carnell Williams of San Antonio, Daniel Williams of Bay City, Ralph Williams and Otto Williams of Pittsburg, Calif., and Jeff Williams of Markham. Also 72 grandchildren (38 grands, 34 great grands), two sisters, Ms. Annie Mae Boone of Markham and Mrs. Martha Lee Tillman of Galveston, and two brothers, Levi Boone, Jr. of Hempstead, and James Lee Boone of Galveston. One aunt, Mrs. Martha Boone Johnson of Bay City, one uncle, Rev. Melvin Leon Boone of Palacios. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, and a family of friends who knew her lovingly as "Noonie."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Williams, May 8, 1971, a daughter, Irene Williams, July 28, 1977, two sisters, Geneva Boone and Verlee Boone, and two brothers, Sam Temple and Willie Lee Boone.
