William B. “Dusty” Baker

Funeral Services for Dusty Baker, 47, of Matagorda will be held Monday April 3, 2000 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Matagorda with the Rev. Dottie Dumas officiating. Burial will follow at Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda. Family and friends will be able to review Dusty at the Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday morning.

Dusty was born to the union of Mary Katherine Dunbar and Cullen Baker in Bay City on July 17, 1952.

Dusty passed away at his home in Matagorda on March 30, 2000.

He is survived by: his wife of 28 years, Mary Bass Baker of Matagorda; one daughter, Bonnie Lee Williams (Keith) of Bay City; two sons, Robert David Baker of Bay City and William Scott Baker of Matagorda; two sisters, Rhonda Griffin (Keith) of Crosby and Penny Phillips (Keith) of Crosby; grandson, Kyle Robert Williams of Bay City; mother-in-law, Rita Sutton of Lockhart; two aunts, Katherine Hansen of Mission, Texas and Lurlyn Whitley (Dick) of Bay City; and a host of other friends and relatives.

His parents preceded him in death and his grandson, Dyllin Scott Williams.

Active pallbearers: Billy Mike Baker, Jerry Coleman, David Riley, Jimmy Baker, Keith Griffin, and Kenneth Bass.

Honorary pallbearers: Keith Williams, Keith Phillips, Robert David Baker, Keith Griffin, Cody Phillips, and William Scott Baker.

Green's Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Douglas Charles Barnes

Mr. Douglas Charles Barnes, 61, of Galveston, died at St. Mary’s Hospital on February 4. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Pach Ann Barnes of Galveston; sons, William, Thomas, Douglas, Michael, Roy and Wayne; 6 daughters, Annie, Nancy, Clevella, Wanda, Barbara, and Henrietta; step-daughters, Lee Caldwell, Betty Kemp, Charlie Caldwell and Gerelene Grice; brothers, William Barnes of Houston, Joe Louis Barnes of Los Angeles, California and Robert Barnes of California; sisters, Mrs. Joy Lee of Matagorda and Mrs. Mazie Williams of Lake Jackson; thirteen grandchildren. The funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Matagorda on Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 p. m. the Rev. John Holt will officiate and interment will be held at Matagorda Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Willie Hill, Kenneth Wayne Hill, Robert Earl Hill, William Eugene Caldwell, John Earl Hamilton and Michael Wayne Long. Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
