Rites In Matagorda Tuesday At 2 For Mrs. Mattie Talbot Bryant

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Talbot Bryant will be in Matagorda Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Aubrey C. Maxted officiating.

Mrs. Talbot well known by many Matagorda county families, died in the Santa Rosa hospital in San Antonio, Sunday. Funeral services were held today in St. Marks Episcopal Church in San Antonio. After cremation the remains will be brought to Matagorda for burial.

Mrs. Bryant was born December 4, 1891 in Matagorda, the daughter of Eugene and Ellen Talbot. Mrs. Bryant’s mother is better known by the scores of Matagordians as “Miss Ellen.”

She is survived by her husband, C. K. Bryant of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Charles R. Allen of San Antonio and one nephew, Lt. Commander C. G. Raht.

Funeral Services Held Wednesday For J. O. Bullock

Funeral services for James O. Bullock, 71, of Newgulf were held Wednesday (yesterday) afternoon at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with burial in the Matagorda Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. O. W. Davis and Mrs. Dewey Yeamans of Newgulf and Mrs. Charles K. Edwards of Matagorda; two sons, W. J. and A. H. of Newgulf; a sister in California, and a brother, J. H., of Houston.

Paul Bunk

Mr. Paul Bunk, age 80 years died at the home of his brother, Mr. John Bunk one mile east of Wadsworth yesterday afternoon at 2:30

Mr. Bunk had made his home with his brother for a good many years. He is survived by his brother, Mr. John Bunk, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Gavender and Mrs. Pauline Yeamans.

Funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church in Matagorda this afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. P. E Engle officiating. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Walker-Matchett Funeral Home.

Whitney Lea, Meredith Jane and Clara Louise Burge

Graveside services for Whitney Lea, Meredith Jane and Clara Louise Burge, infant triplets of Jackie Burge of Bay City, are scheduled for 3 p. m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1995, at the Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda with the Rev. Karl Choate officiating.

The girls died Feb. 11, 1995, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

Survivors include their mother, a grandmother, Sue Burge of Matagorda; an aunt, Jean Burge of Matagorda; a great-aunt and great-uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Watkins of Dickinson and two cousins, Brian and Tommy Watkins, both of Dickinson.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home of Bay City.

Callie Surber Burke

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Callie Surber Burke, 94, of Bay City, 2 p. m. today (Monday) at First Methodist Church of Matagorda.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Bob Dixon [Dickens].

Burke died April 24, 1982 at Bay Villa Nursing Home.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Clara Lee Hauk of Matagorda, Mrs. Dorothy Ellen Carlton of Jones Clark [Creek?]; son, Marvin Douglas Green of Bay City; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Burke was a resident of Bay City since 1942.

Burial followed services at Matagorda Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Robert J. Carlton, Jimmy E. Wilson, Robert L. Hauk, Bobby Hauk, Douglas Green and Aaron Penland.

Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
