Hagerman died October 28, 1982 at the VA Hospital in Houston.

Virgie Mae Hagerman
(October 24, 1923 - November 30, 2008)

Virgie Mae Hagerman, 85, of Matagorda passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 in Houston. She was born October 24, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Alma Carter Drake & George Drake. Virgie was a 50-year resident of Matagorda, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Matagorda, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post # 4459, and was the co-owner of the Fighting Shrimp Bait Camp in Matagorda.

She is survived by her sister: Carmen Hoggarth in Bellingham, WA and brother: Jimmy L. Drake of University Place, WA. Virgie was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Bing Hagerman.

A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Matagorda Cemetery.

Funeral services for Patricia Kay Fayle Hall, 43, of Matagorda were held 3 p. m. Sunday at Taylor Brothers Funeral home chapel with the Rev. C. J. Molmen officiating. Burial was in the Matagorda Cemetery.

Mrs. Hall was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Cedar Bayou, Texas, to Jesse Leroy Fayle and Ella Mae Stubbs and died Sept. 5, 1987, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

A resident of Matagorda for 11 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Matagorda.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Lee Hall of Matagorda; her parents, Jesse Leroy and Ella Mae Stubbs Fayle of Matagorda; two daughters, Jessica Lee and Tonya Denise Hall of Matagorda; two sisters, Nelda Faye Fayle Holcombe of Matagorda and Rita Pauline Fayle Johnson of Alabama; a brother, Donald Loyd Fayle of Louisiana; and a granddaughter, Amanda Lee Hall.

Pallbearers were Dave Springston, Simon DeSoto, Dewey Holcombe, Chris Aryon, Flor Reyes and David Carlock.

In lieu of the usual contributions, donations can be made to the Lupus Foundation.

Tonja France Hargrove

Bay City—Funeral services for Tonja France Hargrove, 53, of Bay City, will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 4 p. m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Burial will be at Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda. She was born January 17, 1959 in Springfield, Mo., and died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center. Viewing will be Saturday from 3 – 4 p. m. at the church.

Phillip Frederick Hauff

Phillip Frederick Hauff, 76, of Matagorda, died Nov. 3, 1976 at his home. He was born June 11, 1900 in Hill County, Texas. Survivors include Mrs. Maudie Hauff of Matagorda; four daughters, Mrs. Stella Phillips, Mrs. Marie Gasaway of Pasadena, Mrs. Dorothy Boley of Sweeny and Mrs. Joyce Schneider of Port Lavaca; two sons, Kenneth and Clyde Hauff of Matagorda; one sister, Mrs. Maudie Husak of Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Hauff was a retired rig operator for Parker Brothers and had been a resident of Matagorda for 10 years. Services will be held at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Chapel at 2 p. m. Friday, Nov. 5. The Rev. Franklin Files of Sweeny Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Matagorda Cemetery. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Edward Louis Hauk

Fuenral services for Edward Louis Hauk, 76, of Matagorda will be held 2 p. m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Matagorda with the Rev. Harold Travis officiating. Burial to follow in Matagorda Cemetery, Matagorda.

Mr. Hauk was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Glen Rose, Texas, to Robert Louis and Nellie Stevenson Hauk and died Jan. 4, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Matagorda.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Lee Hauk of Matagorda; a son, Robert Louis Hauk of Angleton; sisters, Lela Smith of Cleburne and Gertrude Morris of Houston; brothers, Roy Hauk of Carlsbad, N. M., and Floy Hauk of Lodi, Calif.; three grandchildren, Bobby Hauk, Debra Sneath and David Hauk; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Sneath and Braxton Hauk.

Pallbearers include Joe Patton, George Deshotels, Joe Smith, David Allen, Bill Russell and Davant Sterry.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brother Funeral Home, Bay City.

Funeral Services for Henry Douglas Havard, 89, of Matagorda, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Matagorda with the Rev. Dottie Dumas officiating.

Interment will follow at the Matagorda Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Mr. Ryman's [Havard's] home from noon Tuesday until service time Wednesday.

Mr. Havard died Feb. 5, 2000, at Matagorda General Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1910, in Morrow, La to the late George James and Louise Hutzler Havard.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Matagorda, a resident of Matagorda since 1939, a former member of the Matagorda Volunteer Fire Dept., a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Navy, a member of Matagorda VFW Post 4459, and a retired assistant tax assessor/collector for Matagorda County with 35 years of service.

Survivors include wife, Geraldyne Ryman Havard of Matagorda; daughter, Kary L. Havard of Matagorda; sister Joyce Pickett of Morrow, La; brother, Phillip M. Havard of LaCombe, La; brother-in-law, William P. Ryman and wife Joan of Matagorda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Pallbearers will include G. C. "Ry" Ryman, William P. Ryman, II, Ry Jonathan Ryman, Travis Ryman, and Bo and Tell Bokerney.

Memorials can be made to a Charity of Choice.

Geraldyne R. Havard
(June 17, 1916 - June 14, 2010)

Geraldyne Ryman Havard of Matagorda, Texas went home to the Lord Monday, June 14, 2010.

She was born June 17, 1916 in the same house in which she was currently living and has lived in since 1947. She was a woman dedicated to others. She loved her church (Matagorda United Methodist Church), her family, and her community. She believed in serving God by serving others which she continued to do even in the pain of her last years.

She taught school in Matagorda for a number of years, and then worked for the State of Texas Social Services until she retired. Throughout this time she remained devoted to her church and her family. She was active in so many church, community and county organizations. She was on the County Historical Commission for a number of years, was a charter member of the Matagorda Historical Society, a charter member of the Pink Ladies, a charter member of the River’s End Garden Club, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #4459. She taught Sunday School, bible studies, played the piano and organ and remained a faithful member and officer of the Matagorda United Methodist Women for well over 60 years. Geraldyne was currently serving as President of the Matagorda Cemetery Board and the Cemetery Association and was the current acting president of the Matagorda Branch Friends of the Library. Such devotion to her community resulted in a 2009 County Proclamation renaming Matagorda Historical Day in her honor. In the summer of 2009 she was also delighted to represent her community as she cut the ribbon at the dedication of the new causeway bridge. A true saint, she gave so much in service to others. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, George Carroll Ryman and Louise Walker Ryman; her husband, Henry Douglas Havard; and her brother, Carroll Walker Ryman.

She is survived by: daughter, Kary L. Havard of Matagorda; brother, William P. Ryman of Matagorda; nephews, Grover Carroll Ryman, William P. Ryman II, Mac Burris, Robert Burris, niece Laura Ryman Shay; and numerous grand nephews and nieces, and great-grand nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday June 16, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Matagorda United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pauline Storey officiating.

Internment will follow at the Matagorda Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ry Johnathan Ryman, Travis Ryman, Joseph Bokorney II, Tell Bokorney, James Breazeale, and Matt Staszescky.

Honorary pallbearers are Carl Anderson, Devant Sterry, Steve Parsutt, Gardner Serrill, Grover Ryman, Will Ryman, and Matthew Shay.

Memorials may be made to the Matagorda United Methodist Church or the Matagorda Cemetery Association.

Annie Green Hawes

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Green Hawes, age 91, of Galveston, will be held Saturday, September 2^nd, at 2:00 P. M., at the Community Baptist Church in Matagorda, with Rev. Isaiah Gartica officiating. Burial will follow in Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda.

Visitation will be Friday until 9 P. M. in the Chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hawes was born to Sam Green and Annie Royster Green on Monday, July 4, 1904, in Edna, Texas, and died Saturday, August 26, 1995, in Galveston, Texas.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Wormley of Brooklyn, New York, and Mrs. Wilma Holt of Matagorda, and two sons, Rudolph Hawes of Los Angeles, Calif., and Cecil Hawes of Galveston. Also one foster son, Charles Roberson, and one brother, Lafe Green, both of Galveston.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emmitt Hawes, two sons, Luther Hawes and Emmitt Hawes, Jr., and two sisters and two brothers.

Active pallbearers will include Sam Green, Eldridge Green, Robert Green, Emanuel Green, Lafe Green and Manuel Gartica.
