Ralph Edward Rawlings

Funeral services for Ralph Edward Rawlings, 81, of Matagorda will be held at 2 p. m Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999 at Sixth Street Church of Christ, Bro. Joe Wrape officiating. Interment will follow at Matagorda Cemetery.

Mr. Rawlings died Sunday Feb. 21. He was born Dec. 12, 1917 in Fort Bend County to Ralph Rawlings and Orpha Hand Rawlings. Formerly of Rosenberg, he was a resident of Matagorda since 1974. He was a member of Sixth Street Church of Christ in Bay City, a veteran of the U. S. Army, he was a retired Grain Supervisor for the State of Texas and he worked for many years in Aquiculture.

Mr. Rawlings is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Talasek Rawlings of Matagorda; sons, Ralph Edward Rawlings, Jr. of Matagorda, William Lynn Rawlings of Rosenberg, John Harold Rawlings, Sr. of Matagorda, and Thomas Lee Rawlings, Sr. of Matagorda, and Thomas Lee Rawlings of Wharton; 13 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include Mike Talasek, Jesse Jackson, Doug Finch, Haskel Cooke, Louis Hoffman, Rod Baker, Cookie Koch, Glen Organ, and Frankie Marsh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sixth Street Church of Christ Building Fund.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Susan Treybig Rawlings

Funeral services were held Monday, August 3, 1998 at 3 p. m. for Susan Rawlings, 42, of Matagorda at the Sixth Street Church of Christ with Bro. Joe Wrape officiating.

Mrs. Rawlings went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 1998.

She was born April 3, 1956 in El Campo to Ernest Harold Treybig, Sr. and Elaine Marie Carson Treybig. She was a member of the Sixth Street Church of Christ and a resident of Matagorda since 1974.

She is survived by her husband, John H. Rawlings, Sr. of Matagorda; daughter, Angela Colleen Rawlings of Matagorda; sons, John H. Rawlins, Jr. of Houston and Steven Kyle Rawlings of Matagorda; mother, Elaine Marie Treybig of Matagorda; sisters, Lydia Catherine Owens of Mount Ida, AR., Joan L. Starnes of Bay City, and Sally D. Aaron of Matagorda; brothers, Ernest Harold Treybig, Jr. of Matagorda, Carson L. Treybig of Washington, D. C.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Harold Treybig, Sr.

Interment was held at the Matagorda Cemetery, Matagorda, Tx.

Pallbearers were Dr. Buddy Wheeler, Don Wood, Howard Raska, Ted Portier, Marshal Walters and Mike Talasek.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest House, C/O Sixth Street Church of Christ, Bay City, Tx.

Amanda Yeamans Raymond

Funeral services for Amanda Yeamans Raymond, 95, of Bay City will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Bay City with the Rev. Bill Leediker officiating. Burial will be in Matagorda Cemetery.

Mrs. Raymond was born Aug. 9, 1890, in Matagorda County, Texas, and died 3 a. m. Jan. 3, 1986, at Bay Villa Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include two daughters, Alyne Cox of Bay City and Joe Faye Deshotels of Matagorda; three sisters, Mollie Belle Miller of Wharton, Tessie Duderstadt and Margaret Pickel, both of Bay City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Rites Saturday for Geo. H. Raymond

Mr. George Hamilton Raymond, age 69 years 5 months 20 days, passed away at the family residence, 1300 5th St. this morning at 6 o’clock after an illness of a short duration.

Mr. Raymond was employed by the Texas Gulf Sulphur Co., at New Gulf until his retirement some few years back. He was born in the Matagorda vicinity and had lived his life in and around Matagorda County.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amanda Raymond, Bay City; two daughters, Mrs. M. D. Cox, Bay City; Mrs. J. D. Deshotels, Houston; two sisters, Mrs. C. C. Smith of Bay City, and Mrs. John Sterling of Matagorda and one brother, Mr. P. Raymond of Rockport.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday from the First Methodist Church in Bay City with the Rev. W. W. Hawthorne officiating. Interment will be in Matagorda Cemetery, Matagorda, Texas.

Sam Raymond

The funeral of Sam Raymond, who died Saturday morning at his home, 1807 Oxford street, Houston Heights, was held Sunday morning at 10 o’clock from the C. J. Wright Company’s parlors with Rev. D. P. West officiating. The body was sent Sunday night to Matagorda by the Wright company for burial. Mrs. Raymond accompanied the remains.
