Funeral Services For Mrs. Lillian C. Stewart Held Here Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian C. Stewart, 81, were held Friday at the Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda with the Rev. A. C. Maxed officiating.

Burial was in the Matagorda Cemetery with Taylor Brothers in charge.

She is survived by one son, Warner, of Austin and one grandson, Lieutenant William Hart Stewart of Norfolk, Va.

Inez Alamo Swagerty

Funeral services for Inez Alamo Swagerty, 92, of Bryan were scheduled for 10 a. m. today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Leediker officiating. Burial was in Matagorda Cemetery.

Mrs. Swagerty was born Feb. 4, 1893, to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Bruce Kain and died 4 p. m. Dec. 6, 1985, at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home, Bryan.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bay City and had been a resident of Matagorda County until 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Margareete Robbins of Austin; two brothers, George Kain of Aransas Pass and Doug Kain of Bay City; a grandson; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included John Voss McCrosky Sr., John Voss McCrosky r., Thomas Kain, Claude Hickey, A. J. Richey and John Lynch.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

W. H. Swagerty Buried Today

Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Monday for William Harold Swagerty, 80, of Matagorda, who passed away on Saturday.

The services at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel were conducted by Rev. T. Walter Moore, pastor of the Bay City First Methodist Church. Interment was in Matagorda Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. W. H. Swagerty and a daughter, Mrs. Palmer Robbins of Bay City.

A resident of Matagorda County for the past 54 years, Swagerty was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Throckmorton, Texas.

Pallbearers for the services were Roy Traylor, Jimmy Yeamans, Tom Kain, George Kain, Jr., Don Owen, C. P. Williams, Tom Ward and Oscar Moberley.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

W. R. Swartz of Newgulf Dies Suddenly at Uvalde

Mr. W. R. Swartz, purchasing agent for the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company, Newgulf, died suddenly at Uvalde this morning at 2 o’clock. He and Mrs. Swartz were on a trip to visit their son, Bobbie and his family near Uvalde.

Mr. Swartz, or Bob as he was familiarly known in Matagorda and Wharton counties where he has worked and lived during the 32 years he was associated with the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company, was 60 years of age.

He became associated with the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company soon after World War I where he served in the Canadian army, and until the company moved its offices to Newgulf in the late 30’s, he and his family lived at Gulf. His mother, who lived with him and his family in Gulf, died in the county and was buried in Matagorda cemetery. And there is where Bob Swartz will be buried Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Funeral services will be from the Matagorda Episcopal Church and Taylor Bros. Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Besides his wife, Freda, he is survived by one son, Bobbie, of Uvalde and one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Lowe of Newgulf. Two grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services For W. R. Swartz Are Held Friday

Funeral services for W. R. Swartz, 61, of Newgulf were held Friday at the Episcopal Church in Matagorda with burial there. Bishop Clinton S. Quinn conducted the services.

Mr. Swartz was supply manager for the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company for more than 25 years.

Surviving are his wife, Elfrida; one son, Robert A.; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Lowe.
