Lillie Mae Abbott

Bay City--On Feb. 17, 1948, a baby girl was born in Ashwood to Coleman and Ora Lee Abbott, whom they named Lillie Mae Abbott.

At an early age Lillie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Ashwood. She grew up in Ashwood Community and attended school at O. H. Herman High School in Van Vleck.

Her earthly journey came to an end on this side but began on the other side on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 10:30 a. m. in her home at the age of 60.

Lillie will be met on the other side of Glory by her grandparents, William and Fannie Wendell, along with Fred and Clara Abbott; her father, Coleman Abbott; and a host of aunts and uncles.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories; her mother, Ora Lee Abbott; five children, Ricky Abbott, Timothy Abbott, Russell Abbott (Tiwantia), Tina Williams (Nathaniel), Ora LEe Abbott-Arkless (Simon); seven sisters, Fannie Marshall (Jim), Rose LEwis (Desi), Louis Parson, Carolyn Roberson (Charles), Alice Franks (Clem), Linda Abbott, and Thersa Abbott; three brothers, Coleman Abbott Jr. (Nellis) Robert Abbott (Corean), and Wendell O'Neal Abbott; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral for Lillie will be at 1 p. m. Saturday, Aug.2, 2008 at Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church, 2420 Ave C in Bay City. Burial will be in Ashwood Cemetery. Dr. Charles Robinson will be officiating the service.

Viewing will be from 3 - 8 p. m. Friday in the chapel of Green's Mortuary in Bay City.

James C. Adams 

Graveside services for James C. Adams, 82 of Killeen, Texas were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Killeen City Cemetery with Randy Wallace officiating. Visitation was held Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

James was a graduate of Killeen High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas and his Master’s Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State.

James or “Coach” as he was lovingly referred to, coached and taught school in Denver City, Texas and Alice, Texas but mainly in Bay City, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Amy Adams; daughter, Torrey Johnson; brothers, R.C. Adams Jr. and Charles L. Adams; and grandson, Jason Dale Skinner.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Adams; daughters, Jennifer (Dale) Skinner, and Julie Adams (Gary) Baker; one brother, Gordon Adams; granddaughters, Laura Leigh Skinner (Rusty Woody), Katy Anne Johnson (Matt) Oler; great-grandsons, Tyler Dale Skinner; Ethan Russell Woody; William Grant Woody; and great-granddaughter, Kori Lynn Oler.

Joe Cruz Aguilar, Sr, 69, of Bay City, passed away May 25, 2017. He was born December 24, 1947 in El Campo, TX to the late Matis and Elida Cruz Aguilar.

Joe is survived by daughters Tonya Hernandez of Bay City, and Crystal Gonzales (Joue Munoz) of Houston; sons Lonnie Lee Aguilar (Christy) of Houston, Joe Aguilar, Jr. (Kimberly) of Bay City, Jeremiah Aguilar (Josie Trevino) of Pasadena and Ronnie Aguilar (Virginia Alameda) of Bay City; sister Janie Garza of Pasadena; grandchildren Michell Aguilar, Christina Hernandez, Joe Aguilar III, Jewelanna Aguilar, Yolanda Amezquita and Marcus Chambers; great grandchildren Allison Espinobarros and Francisco Espinobarros, Jr.

Zelma Mae Ainsworth

(June 17, 1928 - March 25, 2017)

Zelma Mae Ainsworth, 88, of Bay City passed away March 25, 2017. She was born June 17, 1928 in Henrietta, TX to the late Thomas A. Bracey and Beulah Lindsey Bracey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ainsworth, Sr.

Survivors include sons Jerry Castleberry & wife Glenda of Cleveland, TX, Kenneth Ainsworth & wife Betty of Bay City and Billy Ainsworth & wife Cheryl of Rye, TX; grandchildren Douglas Castleberry (Susan), Krystal Ainsworth, Natasha Ainsworth, Carissa Ainsworth and Brandon Ainsworth and 9 great grandchildren.

Paula G. Alameda
January 26, 1940 - September 16, 2017

Viewing for Paula G. Alameda, 77, of Bay City, Texas will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City, Texas at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 with Brother Gerry Cernoch officiating.  The rosary service and mass will follow.  A reception will take place in the Parish Hall after services.

Paula passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on September 16, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Israel, and Juan, Augustine Sr; daughter, Paulita Alameda; and parents, Trinidad and Augustin Gonzalez.

Paula is survived by her loving husband, Albert Alameda Sr. of 63 years.  They were married in September 1954 in Wharton; sons, Albert Alameda Jr., Ruben Alameda Sr,. both of Bay City; daughter, Juanita Gonzalez of Van Vleck; fourteen grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was born in San Benito on January 26, 1940.  Paula enjoyed spending quality time with her growing family, little fur-babies, collecting photos of all their memorable moments and knitting.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Memories of her selfishness, her warm smile and loving and caring heart will be held dear.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, Augustine Alameda Jr., Ruben Alameda Jr., Albert Alameda III, Eddie Alameda, Julian Alameda, Samuel Gonzalez Jr., Ryan Alameda and Raymond Alameda.

Herbert “Dale” Alexander
March 21, 1950 - July 13, 2017

Herbert “Dale” Alexander was born to Mary Patterson Henry and Cyrus Washington Alexander on March 21, 1950 in Wharton, Texas.

Dale graduated from Bay City High School in 1970 and married his high school sweetheart Wanda Lawrence on March 18, 1971. Dale joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1970-1981.  After leaving the Navy, Dale joined the U.S. Army Reserves and was with the 322nd Chemical Company in Bay City.  He proudly served in Desert Storm.  He retired from the military with 22 years of service in 1994.  Dale worked as a corrosion technician for Florida Gas/Houston Pipeline/Enron for 20 plus years.  During those years Dale was actively involved in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and VFW in Bay City, where he served as Quartermaster, Commander, and District 16 Commander.  After retiring Dale and Wanda moved to the Hill Country.  Dale was an active member of the American Legion in Floresville, Texas.  Dale completed his earthly stay on July 13, 2017 while on vacation in Florida.  He loved vacation, especially cruising.  One of his family’s favorite trips was a Disney Cruise with all the grandkids.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Beth Freeman and Olla Mae Bartlett.

He is survived by his brother, Gary Adams; sisters, Sharon Hargis and Betty Rae Hairston; his wife Wanda of 46 years; his daughters, Dawn Hudnall and Cheryl Belote; sons-in-law, Rodney Hudnall and Kasey Belote; his grandchildren, Mason Chavez, Rodney Hudnall, Cole Belote, Reagan Hudnall, Raeleigh Hudnall, and Kinsey Belote.  He was also a loving uncle, cousin, and friend to so many.

His memorial service will be held at the VFW in Bay City on Sunday, July 30, 2017, followed by a graveside service at Cedarvale Cemetery.  Carlton Carpenter will officiate.

Leona Estelle Allen

Leona Estelle Sharps Allen, 95, of Sweeny, TX passed away on September 6, 2016, in Houston, TX. She was born April 20, 1921, in Norton, TX to the late Sanford F. Sharps and Bertha Harding Sharps. She married Alfred M. Allen January 22, 1944.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents; step-mom Eunice Pittman Sharps; husband Alfred M Allen; daughter Betty McClain; infant son Charley Allen; son Neal Allen; daughter-in-law Barbara Allen; brother Sanford Sharps, Jr.: sister Geraldine Smith (Brian P.); brother Troy Sharps (Nellie Ruth) and sister Etta Jean Schultz (Fred). She is survived by son Billy Allen (Lisa) of Sweeny; son-in-law Robert McClain of Lake Jackson; sister-in-law and friend of 81 years Evlyn Allen of Abilene; granddaughters Jeana Sousley (Jason) and Belva Bricker (John); grandson Sam McClain (Terri); 9 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way, and many other relatives and friends who are a special part of her family.

She was a member of Harvest Time Church for many years. We would like to thank all her friends who came to play dominos, baked sweets for her, visited, called or prayed for her.

Special thanks to caretaker and friends Rene, Jim and Elizabeth Giles. You all brought her so much joy and laughter we can't thank you enough!

Cesar Ramon Alvarado, 71, of Bay City passed away January 17, 2017. He was born June 10, 1945 in Mexico to the late Juan Alvarado and Calendaria Gonzalez Alvarado.

He was preceded in death by his wife Esmeralda Alvarado and one son Juan Alvarado. August 8, 1948 - September 16, 2016

Esmeralda Alvarado, 68, of Bay City, Texas, passed away September 16, 2016. She was born August 8, 1948 in Mexico, to the late Juan Torres and Carmen Estrada Torres.

She was preceded in death by her son, Juan Alvarado; sister, Maria Guadalupe Torres Estrada; and brother, Jose Natividad Torres Estrada.

Carter Anderson
October 27, 1953 - July 3, 2016

Carter Anderson, 62, of Wharton, died July 3, 2016 in Wharton. Carter was born on October 27, 1953 to Cleve and Sarita Anderson in Gary, Indiana.

Carter graduated from William Wirt High School in Gary, Indiana, Class of 1972. He married Sandy Keefover that same year and The Anderson family moved to East Bernard, Texas in April of 1985. Carter and Sandy moved to Wharton, Texas in May of 1997, where Carter was Maintenance Supervisor at several area schools before he retired in 2015.

Carter had a passion for Houston sports. Astros or Texans it didn’t matter, as long as it wasn’t Dallas! He also loved working with his hands, building things and helping people.

Carter was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carla Hunt and grandson James.

Carter was survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandy Keefover Anderson, and their three children: Jason Anderson with wife, Liz, and their two daughters, Holly and Emily of East Bernard, Tx; Vickie Anderson Batt with husband, David, of Brisbane, Australia; and Sarah Anderson with fiancé, James Taylor. Carter also has one surviving brother, Cary Anderson.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers are Cary Anderson, James Kainer, Wayne Walters, Roberto Trevino and John Rosniak. In honor of Carter’s passion for sports, the family wishes to express that Texans or Astros attire is welcome and encouraged.

Levi Israel Anderson

Funeral services for Levi Israel Anderson, 87, will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999 at First Baptist Church of Blessing, Rev. Mark Clemmons officiating. Interment will follow at Midfield Cemetery in Midfield.

Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Feb. 16 in Manor, TX. He was born in Lund, TX. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army and a member of First Baptist Church of Blessing.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his nephew, Emil Anderson of Manor; and nieces Frances Christine Munir of Ellis and Kathleen Anderson of Austin.

Mr. Martin L. Anderson, 81, of Midfield died November 22 in Matagorda General Hospital. Survivors include: sister, Mrs. Gunnar Ekdahl of Austin; brothers, George Anderson of Las Vegas and Levi Anderson; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson had been a resident of this area for over 60 years. Funeral services were held at Taylor Brothers Chapel on Nov. 24, at 2 p. m. Rev. John Tripp was officiating. Stephanie Kathleen Anderson

Funeral services for Stephanie Kathleen Anderson, 14, of Blessing, will be held at 3 p. m. Wednesday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Midfield Cemetery.

Miss Anderson was born May 12, 1970, in Freeport and died March 25, 1985, following a car-truck accident on S. H. 35 on Monday.

Survivors include her parents, Billy and Darlene Anderson of Midfield; maternal grandfather, Rudolf Wratislaw of Midfield; paternal grandparents, Vance and Emma Jean Smith of Lake Jackson; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Dosha Redden of Lake Jackson.

(November 19, 1956 - March 5, 2017)

Jose Miguel Anzaldua, Sr., 60, of Bay City passed away March 4, 2017. He was born November 19, 1956 in Pharr, Texas to Miguel Anzaldua and Magdalena Pena Anzaldua. He was a graduate of Bay City High School.

Survivors include his wife Hope Estrada Anzaldua; daughters Crystal Anzaldua, Angelita Anzaldua, Crystal Rebecca Anzaldua and Sandra Anzaldua; sons Jose Miguel Anzaldua, Jr., Theodore Anzaldua and Christopher Anzaldua; sisters Kristina, Irene and Rosa; brother Isreal Anzaldua and grandchildren Austin Anzaldua, Ceniya White, Payton Anzaldua, Kieran George, Jr., Harold White III, Theodore Anzaldua, Jr., Joyce Cardoza and Nickolie Anzaldua.

Amora Valentina Aragon

Funeral services for our sweet little baby girl Amora Valentina Aragon will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Green's Mortuary in Bay City, Texas.

She was born on February 17, 2017 to Anthony Aragon and Skylar (Budaus) Aragon. She received her angel wings just an hour after she was born.

Interment will follow immediately after the service at the Midfield Cemetery.

Amora is survived by her parents, Anthony and Skylar Aragon; sisters, Zylah Aragon and Sadie Granados; paternal grandparents, Jorge and Adelina Aragon; maternal grandparents, Jason and Shannon Budaus; great grandparents, Sharon Brown and Pete:  great grandparents, Paul and Susan Schilling; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

She is preceded in death and probably being spoiled by her Great Nana, Nancy Schilling; her Great Grandpa Charlie Budau, Guillermo and Lucy Aragon.

Edward James Ash
September 9, 1963 - September 9, 2016

Edward James Ash, 53, of Bay City, Texas, passed away unexpectedly, on September 9, 2016.

Edward was born in Seoul, Korea, to the union of William Henry Ash Jr. and Young Ja Ash, on September 9, 1963.

Due to a military lifestyle, he was able to live in different parts of the world, but eventually called Copperas Cove, Texas, home. Upon graduation of high school, he joined the Air Force and served his country for six years. After leaving the service, he moved to Bay City, Texas, where he remained to this day.

During the span of his life, he held many titles and made numerous friends. He worked for STP, Matagorda Co. Sheriff’s office and various other places. At the time of his death, he was employed by United Electrical & Instrumentation Services as an electrician/instrumentation tech. He was also a student at Brazosport College. Ed was a fun loving person who loved life and people.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Ash; two sons, Alexander and Aiden Ash; his beloved grandparents; and his friends who lost their lives in honor of their country.

He enjoyed competition shooting, reading and talking with everyone he met.

He leaves behind, his wife, Ivy Ash; two sons, Hunter Ash and Maxim Wagenhauser; three daughters, Caitlyn Ash, Lauren Wagenhauser and Kayla Wagenhauser; mother, Young Ja; two sisters, Barbara Pethick and Janet Ash; brother, Daniel Ash; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Engelhardt and Brian Royster; mother-in-law, Doris Royster; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Edward will be laid to rest at 11 a.m., on September 24, 2016, at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City, Texas.

Gladys Edison Autry

April 9, 1958 - March 11, 2017 (age 58)

 

Gladys Edison was born on April 9, 1958 to Shirley R. Steamer and Herman Gene Moore.

 

Gladys accepted Christ at an early age at Enterprise Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. H. Pointer.  She later united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. T. L. Richardson where she was a faithful and dedicated member for many years.  She served as president of the Choir, Adult Praise Team, PAC Committee, and Mission Society.

 

On February 14, 2010, she united in Holy Matrimony with Calvin Autry.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Carol Steamer; maternal grandparents:  Katherine Edison-Casey and Marshal Steamer; paternal grandparents:  Jim and Mandy Moore.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband: Calvin Autry; two sons:  Adrian Edison of Huntsville, Texas and Curtis Edison of Bay City, Texas; four sisters:  Latanga Wilson (Walter) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Pamela Stone (Karlton) and Sherry Brown both of Bay City, TX and Diana Steamer of Houston, Texas; three brothers:  David Steamer (Vonda) of Richmond, Texas, Johnny Brown of Bay City, Texas, and Robert L. Brown of Van Vleck, Texas; two step-daughters:  Natalie Watson of Needville, Texas and Shari Watson of Rosenberg, Texas; four step-grandchildren, two special friends:  Sis. Helen Richardson and Joy L. Patterson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

 

Visitation : Friday, March 17, 2017, 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Service: Saturday, March 18, 2017, 11 A. M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
