Clark Leslie Bergstrom

Sept. 28, 1922 – Sept. 17, 2012

Clark Leslie Bergstrom, 89, of Bay City passed away Monday, September 17, 2012.

He was born September 28, 1922 in Round Rock, Texas to the late August Elmer and Ethel Pauline Jackson Bergstrom.

Clark was a longtime resident of Bay City, a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, and a Life Member of VFW Post 2438.

He proudly served his country during World War II as a Mechanic with the Army Air Corps.

Clark retired from ConocoPhillips Petroleum as a supervisor of maintenance after many faithful years of service.

He was a man of God, and spent many hours helping friends and family. Clark never met a stranger, and would help anyone who needed it.

He is survived by: his three daughters, Norma Forey and husband Leonard of Nederland, Frances “Fran” Sidlo and husband Tom of Fredericksburg, and Barbara Sidlo and husband David of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, Leslie Harrison and husband Jimmy, Laura Forey, Randy Treece and wife Valerie, Marc Treece and wife Whitney, Shelley Miller and husband Clark, Wendy Engel, and Troy Dry; four great-grandchildren, Jake Harrison, Luke Harrison, Kaitlyn Treece, Natalie Treece, and Sheldon Engel; many nieces and nephews; and by very special friends: David and Carol Allen.

Clark was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Marjorie Lewis and Grace Mauch, and brother: Elmer Jackson Bergstrom.

The family will receive visitors from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at St. Peters Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jared Stillions officiating.

Interment will follow at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in El Campo.

Pallbearers will be: Randy Treece, Marc Treece, Troy Dry, Leonard Forey, David Sidlo, and Tom Sidlo.

Honorary pallbearers will be: David Allen and Ben.

James L. Bohli

VICTORIA - Retired LCDR James L. Bohli, 64,Victoria, formerly of Bay City, TX passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer on August 13, 2012 at home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born November 10,1947in Corpus Christi to Ruth K and the late EdmundJ Bohli.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1967. Following his retirement after 22 years of service he moved to Bay City, TX.

James is loved and missed by his wife Sharon, daughters Jamie, Jennifer, Jessica, mother Ruth, brother John, sister Kathy and stepchildren Amory and Stefny and his ex-wife Joan. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, several cousins and nieces and nephews.

His grandchildren were a huge comfort in his life. He was very proud of his oldest grandchild Paige Bohli who came from Connecticut to help with the home and family during his illness.

A memorial Service will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 6;:00 pm at God's Church located at 402 E. North Street in Victoria Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of South TX, who was fantastic in his final days or the American Cancer Society.

Naomi Richardson Bouldin

Funeral services for Naomi Richardson Bouldin, 93, of Bay City will be held 11 a. m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. L. C. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel and 10 to 11 a. m. Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Bouldin was born Jan. 21, 1899 in Bay City to the late Benton Thomas and Delia Richardson and she died Sept. 19, 1992 at Bay Villa Nursing Home.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Texas State Retired Teachers Association, Golden Circle Club and Creacy’s Amaranth Court. Mrs. Bouldin received her teaching credentials from Prairie View Normal College, now Prairie View Texas A&M University and she taught at schools throughout Matagorda County until her retirement.

Survivors include a sister, Dicey Mills of Bay City; six nieces, Cordelia Mills, Jerdie Baker, Jewel Smith, Margaret Gamble, Naomi Edison and Dorothy Hornbeak; a stepdaughter, Hilda B. Francis; one stepson, Savannah Bouldin; a special friend, Millie Petitt; other relatives; students and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike Smith III, James Gamble Jr., Jeffrey Baker, Windle Baker, Milton Baker Jr., Shifton Baker, Kenneth Edison and Daryl Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Milton Baker Sr., James Gamble Sr. and the deacons of Bethel Baptist Church.

Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny David Braddock

March 11, 1965 – Aug. 31, 2012

Johnny David Braddock, 47, of Sheridan, Texas passed away Friday, August 31, 2012.

He was born March 11, 1965 in Eagle Lake, Texas to the late Francis Cline Sepeda and the late Hugh “Shorty” Braddock.

Johnny was a caring and hard working person who will be dearly missed. When he wasn’t working, Johnny enjoyed helping others and visiting with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his brother, Domingo Sepeda; grandmother, Tillie Moore; and cousins, Chris Maretka and Alexis Moore.

He is survived by: aunts, Janis Moore Hayes and husband Glenn of Markham and Elizabeth Moore Maretka and husband Gene of Bay City; uncles, Everett Moore of Rock Island, Ernest “Bubba” Moore and wife Rie of Columbus, and James Moore of Brenham; numerous cousins; and many friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012, also at Eagle Lake Funeral Home in Eagle Lake, with the Pastor Gary Henneke officiating.

Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robby Henske, Glenn Hayes, Joe Joe Linnemier, Mike Alley, Joey Owens, Fred Heger, Jody Ripper, and Frankie Evans. His uncles as well as City of Columbus employees will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Eagle Lake EMS and everyone who responded to the call in Johnny’s time of need.

Emil "Jack" Bram

DANEVANG - Emil "Jack" Bram, life-long resident of Danevang, passed away August 17, 2012 at the age of 94. He was born December 13, 1917 to the late Marius and Christine Christiansen Bram. He was a retired farmer and rancher.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Gann Bram of Danevang; daughters Judy Cox and husband Jim of Victoria, Idelle Dukes and Gwen Perrin, both of Pearland; brother Elve Bram and wife Irene, sister-in-law Henrietta Bram, of El Campo; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rita Piwonka, sisters Johanna Saman and Clara Sifford; brothers Walter, Carl, Raymond, Otto, Clarence, Oscar, and Harry Bram.

Visitation will begin 2:00 pm Sunday at Triska Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 20, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Gerald Foltyn, Wilbert Hansen, Clifton Bram, Walter Lilie, Jr., Emil Stepan and Brent Cerny. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, Art Janke, Edmond Holub, Eugene Krenek, Tim "Zeek" Zaskoda, Donald Roades.

Viola Mae Brietzke
(April 18, 1927 - August 22, 2012)

Viola Brietzke, 85, left this world to be with her heavenly father on August 22, 2012 in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 18, 1927 to William Daniel and Fannie Elizabeth Lee in Wadsworth, Texas. Coming from a family of eight children, Viola knew the value of hard work. She ran a small day care center from her home for 25 years. The passions in Viola’s life were God, family, and her beautiful yard. She was a member of the Legion of Mary for over 40 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents: William and Fannie Lee, 3 brothers: William (Happy), John Henry, and Charles Burton Lee, and 2 sisters: Florence Bell and Gladys Averitt. She leaves behind her 2 brothers: Edward and Bryan Lee, her 4 children Herbert Brietzke of Katy, Elizabeth and John LaFour of Van Vleck, Gerald and Peggy Brietzke of Bay City, and Debbie Brietzke of Bay City, 6 grandchildren: Jason Brietzke, Erica Tristan, Angel Miller, Jason Findley, Amber Stunz, and Johnathan Brietzke, and 11 great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be: John LaFour, William Lee, Jeff Miller, Daniel Pena, Tony Pena, and Jerry Werlla. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Legion of Mary.

Alvin Brooks, Sr.

Funeral services for Alvin Brooks Sr., 69, of Bay City, will be held 2 p. m. Tuesday at Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City with the Rev. A. H. Pointer officiating. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, 1300 Duncan St. in Bay City.

Mr. Brooks was born April 17, 1923 in Egypt, Texas to the late Harry and Elizabeth Harrison Brooks and died Dec. 17, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital.

He was a member of the Baptist church and the American Legion. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Brooks of Bay City; one daughter, Portia Brooks, of Bay City; one son, Alvin Brooks Jr., of Bay City; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna Mae and Otis Wright of Bay City and four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Tarsha Lynette, Alvin III and Harry LaQuincy Brooks.

Pallbearers will be T. L. Castilow, Willie Boone Jr., Larry Sidney, Jack Medina, Larnell Hawkins and Lamonte Lewis.

Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George Lee Brooks

Funeral services for George Lee Brooks, 69, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Bay City with the Rev. L. C. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, 1300 Duncan St., Bay City.

Mr. Brooks was born May 15, 1923 in Bay City to George and Elizabeth Williams Brooks and died Jan. 16, 1993 at Vencor Hospital in Houston.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

Survivors include two children: a number of grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; a special friend, Thelma Sneed of Bay City; five aunts, Mable Green of Houston, Alice Lewis, Georgia Johnson, Laverne Pointer and Willeen Williams, all of Bay City and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers will be James L. Johnson, Willie Edison, Earnest D. Munir, Lee A. Sorrell, Solomond A. Munir and L. C. Pointer. Honorary pallbearers are members of the family.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Wilma Jean Brooks

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Jean Brooks, age 57, of Bay City, will be held Tuesday, August 29th, at Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City, at 1:00 p. m., with Rev. Kevin O. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Bay City.

Visitation will be Monday until 9 p. m. in the Chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, and Tuesday from 12 Noon til 1 p. m. at the Church.

Mrs. Brooks was born on Friday, November 5, 1937, to Willie Bonner and Johnnie Mae Fisher Bonner in Bay City, and died Wednesday, August 23, 1995, in Bay City.

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Erlynn Brooks and Ms. Lerlynn Brooks both of Bay City, and four sons, Herman Brooks, Jr., John Brooks, Anthony Brooks and Carlton Brooks, all of Bay City. She also leaves five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Edna Tone and Mrs. Margaret Cooper, both of Bay City, and three brothers, L. V. Sanford, Willie Bonner, Mr. and John L. Bonner, all of Bay City.

Also one maternal aunt, Mrs. Addie Latham of Wharton, and one maternal uncle, M. C. Allen of Bay City. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a family of friends.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Mae Bonner, July 9, 1975, her father, Willie Bonner, December 4, 1975, two sisters, Ruth Green and Charlotte Bonner, and her twin brother, Herman Bonner.

Elena Smyth Brown

Funeral services for Elena Smyth Brown, 73, of Bay City will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at First Sacred Memorial Christian Church in Bay City with the Rev. H. S. Williams officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Green’s Mortuary.

Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 20, 1919 in El Maton to Charles and Emma Deadrick Smyth and she died March 10, 1993 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

She was a member of the Christian church and the Texas State Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Lloyd Brown; two nephews, Charles A. Smith of Angleton and Lewis Franklin of Freeport; a great-nephew, Kyle Smith of Palestine; a niece, Mary L. Woolridge of California; two great-nieces, Brandy Smith and Kimberly Smith, both of Palestine;  three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Brown and Floyd Brown, both of Galveston, and Malachi Brown Jr. of Bay City; and three sisters-in-law, Lorece Bankston and Jean E. Deadrick, both of Bay City, and Tommie Lola Robinson of Houston.

Pallbearers will be John Alridge, Michael Bankston, Larry Bankston, the Rev. Gordon Brown, Eric Lewis and Jimmie Scott. Honorary pallbearers are the ministers of Matagorda County.

Funeral services for Mae Ethel Brown, 84, of Los Angeles, Calif., are scheduled for 11 a. m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, in the Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church with Elder Joe N. Brown officiating. Burial will be in East View Cemetery in Bay City.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday at the Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church and the body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday at the church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Clemis and Alberta Brown of Lynwood, Calif., four sisters, Eula Mae Brown and Alberta Brown of Bay City, Nona Fae Peters of Los Angeles, Calif. and Francis Grice of Inglewood, Calif.; three grandchildren, James Everett McNeil of Houston, Michael Elliott Brown of Inglewood and Cheryl Brown Powell of Culver City, Calif.; 4 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are John D. Brown, Kermit Brown, Ira Lee Brown, Anthony Lewis, Roy Brown, A. J. Brown, Kelvin Troy Brown and Lloyd Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers are Clemis Brown, Roland Lewis Brown, Horace Robinson, Michael Elliott Brown, James Everett McNeil and the Eastern Star Oliver Leaf Chapter #219 C. E. S.

Leroy Burton

Funeral services for Brother Leroy Burton, 78, will be held Wednesday Dec. 27, 1995 at 11 a. m. at the Sixth Street Church of Christ on 3010 Sixth Street in Bay City, TX.

Officiating will be Brother Gene Rowe. Burial will follow at East View Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon until 9 p. m. Brother Burton will lie in state at the Church Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a. m. Brother Burton passed away Wednesday Dec. 20, 1995 in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Leroy was the son of Alonzo and Sarah Burton [and] was born Feb. 16, 1917 in Caldwell, TX. In 1945 Leroy obeyed the Gospel in Corpus Christi, TX under the preaching and teaching of U. S. Shields. In that same year he began to preach the Gospel of Christ. Brother Burton has served Churches of Christ in Kingsville, Waco and Bay City, TX. He also served in Monroe and Baton Rouge, La., Clearwater, Fla., and Alexander City, AL.

His survivors are two sons, Vencil Burton of Ft. Worth, TX and Randy Burton of Tucson, Az, daughter Jeneene Taylor of Houston, TX, one brother Alonzo Burton of Oakland, Ca, six sisters of California and Texas; Edna Mae, Adline, Corine, Ruthie, Sarah and Jessie, six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are family. Honorary pallbearers are Vencil Burton, Alonzo Burton and Randy Burton.

Green’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements at 2702 Avenue C in Bay City.
