Carroll O. Eidlebach, 74, of Brownwood died April 18 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Annie Eidlebach of Brownwood; 6 sisters, Mrs. Wilma Jennings of San Antonio, Mrs. Katherine White of Laytonville, Calif., Mrs. Isabelle Gernand and Mrs. Virginia Klingaman of Bay City, Evelyn Eidlebach of Houston, and Mrs. Joyce Smith of Old Ocean; 4 brothers, Earl, Ross and Arthur Eidlebach of Bay City and Burris Eidlebach of Red Oak. Funeral services were held at 4 p. m. Friday, April 20, at Taylor Bros. Chapel with Rev. Harold Tillman officiating. Interment was at the Cedarvale Cemetery with pallbearers being: Jimmy Fortenberry, Tony Nemec, Woodrow Gernand, Calvin and Donald Smith, Woodie Joe Gernand and Roy Gest. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

From Monday’s Daily.

Mrs. Willie Eidlebach, aged 31 years, died at her home in this city this morning at 4 o’clock and was buried in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon.

Mrs. Eidlebach was born and reared in this county and leaves besides her husband and children a large connection of relatives, amongst whom are County Clerk J. T. Bond, Mr. P. A. Bond and Mr. Ernest Bond, her brothers. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Lee, of one of the oldest families in the county.

The Tribune extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Eugene Henry Eidlebach

Eugene Henry Eidlebach, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Eidlebach, died at the home of his parents in this city this morning at 3:15 after an illness of several months’ duration.

The funeral took place in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon in the presence of a large number of friends and acquaintances.

The Tribune joins the many friends of these good people in the deepest sympathy in this dark hour of their affliction.

Eugene Henry bore up bravely for months under a terrible strain of a relentless illness. Everything that physicians could do was done for him, but to no avail, and this morning his tired little spirit wafted its flight heavenward.

Evelyn Lois Eidlebach, 87, of Bay City passed away August 12, 2013.

She was born in Bay City, Texas on March 7, 1926 to the late Willie and Pauline Gest Eidlebach.

She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell in Houston, Texas retiring in 1981, and returning to Bay City to live her life with her family.

She is survived by: her brother, Arthur Eidlebach and wife Carm; sister-in-law, Catherine Eidlebach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her extended family, the Gernands, Nancy and Dell Ayres, Susie and Jim Woracheck, Patty and Jimmy Guy Fortenberry, Woodie and Toni Gernand and Barbara and Tony Nemec.

She was preceded in death by: her brothers, Bundy (C.O.), Eugene, Earl, Burris and Ross; sisters, Gertrude Harrison, Beulah Lee, Wilma Jennings, Emmie Parks, Catherine White, Isabelle Gernand, Virginia Klingaman and Joyce Smith.

The family received friends and relatives from 5 until 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Funeral Services for Emma Katherine Eikenberg, 97, of Bay City will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999 in the chapel of Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Breazeale.  Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. 

She died Sunday, Nov 21, 1999 in Bay City. She was born Sept 9, 1902 in Waco, TX to John and Emma Elizabeth Moore Whitaker.  She was a retired nurse and a member of the Eagle Lodge.

She is survived by: her daughters, Trilby Bond of Smithville, Ruby Orr of Blessing, LaVerne Jarrett and Betty Eikenberg both of Bay City; and 16 grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents: sons, Wallace and Alvin Eikenberg; sisters, Eula Fields, Ada Alterberg, Blanche Wilson, and Clyde Eikenberg; and brothers, Bob, George and Milton Whitaker.

John Henry Ellis, Jr.

John Henry Ellis, Jr. 72 of Blessing, died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Houston.  He was a resident of the Blessing area since 1935.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Pearl Ellis of Blessing; one daughter, Lucille Vogel of Detroit, Mich.; four sons, Robert O. Ellis, of Bay City; James L. Ellis of Victoria, Curtis W. Ellis of Blessing and Leonard F. Ellis of Wharton; three sisters, Leona Harlow of El Cajor, Calif, Lillian Puckett of Fresno, Calif.; and Adrian Jackson of Kingsville, two brother, Clayton Ellis of Hugo, Okla.,  and C. O. Ellis of Pharr; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 pm at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Tripp officiating.  Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Murlene J. Emery went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. Murlene was born on March 19, 1925 in Mereta, Texas to the late Arthur Leo and Flora Dawson Jones. Murlene had a gift for hospitality. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to play games, being an avid domino player. She is survived by her loving family, daughters Judy Koenig (Charles H.), Jeanie Eubanks; grandchildren, Dallas Henslee (Mark), Heath Koenig, Lauren Eubanks; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Danielle and Shanielle Henslee, Houston, Stetson, and Cash Koenig. The family has decided to honor her memory through the joy of fellowship within her family, for those that wish to celebrate her life contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Etta Marie Epperson
(June 9, 1917 - October 11, 2013)

Etta Marie Epperson, 96, of Blessing, Texas went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 11, 2013. She was born June 9, 1917 in Pickering, Louisiana. She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Blessing and was the oldest living member of the congregation. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 125 of Palacios. Her project as Worthy Matron was to provide crocheted hats to M.D. Anderson cancer patients, a custom that has lasted over 58 years. The Blessing Kiwanis Club presented her with an “Outstanding Citizens” award in 1976 for her contributions to the community and church. One of her greatest joys was owning and operating Etta’s Beauty Shop in Blessing, a career that lasted over 60 years. Many wonderful and lasting friendships were formed throughout those years. She is survived by her daughter Ginger Zemanek and son-in-law Victor Joe Zemanek of Granbury, TX, grandsons Sammy Powell of Buda, TX, Greg Zemanek and wife Libby of Dallas, TX, granddaughters Samantha Franzen and husband Derril of Collegeport, TX, Tracy Lipperdt and husband Glenn of Keller, TX, great granddaughters Stephanie Busby and husband Brian of Collegeport, TX, Savannah Moeller and husband Jeff of Collegeport, TX, great grandsons, Tyler and Parker Lipperdt of Keller, TX, Victor John and Willis Zemanek of Dallas, TX, great- great grandson, Reese Busby of Collegeport, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews. Etta was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Willis Epperson of Blessing, daughter Tommye Raye Powell, sisters Ruth Spain and Ethel Perkins and brothers Frank, Hermes, Ray, Willis, and Manny Nash. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, October 14, 2013 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas with Brother Bill Hill officiating. Interment will follow at the Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, TX. Pallbearers will be Victor Joe Zemanek, Sammy Powell, Greg Zemanek, Deril Franzen, Glenn Lipperdt, and Tyler Lipperdt.

Final Rites Are Held For C. A. Erickson, Prominent Attorney

Final rites were held here Thursday afternoon for C. A. Erickson, 62, prominent Bay City attorney, who died January 9 at the Matagorda General Hospital. Burial was in the Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. Erickson retired active law practice several years ago.

He was a member of the well-known law firm, Styles, Krausse & Erickson. Before retirement the firm had changed its name to Erickson & Bell, of which C. R. Bell is still a member and which has added another attorney, George R. Keen.

Mr. Erickson was an active civic worker, including work on the school board and in the Bay City Rotary Club. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carrie Erickson; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Heard of Longview, Washington, and Mrs. Margaret Calloway of Alton, Illinois; one brother, George C. Erickson of Lake City, Minnesota.

(November 8, 1926 - November 13, 2013)

Santos Esquivel, 87, of Blessing, TX passed away November 13, 2013. She was born November 8, 1926 in Knott, TX to the late Margarito Fabela & Gertrudes Cortez Fabela.

Her husband Alberto Esquivel, sister Fransica Jimenez, 2 grandsons and 1 great grandson all preceded her in death.

Survivors include sister Margarita Vasquez of Eagle Pass, TX; children Terry & Joe Morales, Sr. of Blessing, Justa Moreno of Blessing, Bea Galvan of Blessing, Joe & Lorraine Esquivel of Blessing, Janie & Peter Prejean of Lafayette, LA, Mary & Jose Moreno of Blessing, Bertha & Luis Zavala, Sr. of Blessing, Judy & Jesse Lara of Palacios, David & Laura Esquivel of Lake Jackson & Sonia & Armando Ibarra, Sr. of Blessing; 42 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 5:00 PM. Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Peters’ Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. BAY CITY - Rebecca Estrada, 84, of Bay City, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005.

She was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Bay City, to the late Guadalupe and Lina Zepeda.

Survivors: husband, Natividad Estrada Sr.; daughters, Uz Trevion, Amelia Ordonez, Mary Helen Garza, and Hope Anzaldua, all of Bay City, Irene Garza of Boling, Rachel Pulido of Pasadena, Jerri Rodriguez of Ganado, and Paula Aguilera; sons, Jimmy Lopez, Natividad Estrada Jr., Pete Estrada, and Valiero Estrada, all of Bay City; sisters, Martha Guzman and Sara Franco, both of Bay City, Esther Lopez of Texas City, and Ruth Orozo of Corpus Christi; brothers, Isac Zepeda of Bay City and Paul Zepeda of Houston; 46 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: daughter, Juanita Lopez; brothers, Daniel Zepeda, Robert Zepeda, Elias Zepeda, and James Zepeda.

Visitation was noon-8 p.m. Thursday at Green's Mortuary chapel.

The family received visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A prayer service was 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Services were 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial was at Midfield Cemetery. [Reinterred at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas in 2006] Green's Mortuary, Bay City, 979-245-3489.

Antoinette Anderson Evans, 58, born on June 27, 1955, departed her earthly life on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Funeral arrangements are Saturday, July 6, at 2 p.m. at Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Murray Martin Pastor.

Samuel Oliver Evans, Jr.

Samuel Oliver Evans, Jr., 77. Of Bay City passed away Feb. 13, 1996 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston.

He was born Nov. 7, 1918 in  Waynesboro, Mississippi to Samuel Oliver Evans, Sr. and Clara Ethel Rolison Evans. He has been a resident of Bay City since 1950, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge #865 AF & AM., and a retired brick mason and longtime member of Local Union #1. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Navy from 1940 to 1946. He was 'proud to have served his country aboard the USS Washington in the South Pacific Battle of Savo Island. He was aboard P C 1263 during the Invasion of Normandy.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Clark Evans of Bay City; by two daughters and sons-in-Iaw, Regina and H. P. Rouse, Jr. of Baytown, Arlene and Donn Collins of Bay City; by one son and daughter-in-law, Sam Evans III and Yvonne Evans of Bay City; by two sisters and a brother-in-Iaw, Jewell and Albert Sykes of Angleton and Agnes Frost of Millry, Alabama; by three brothers .and sisters-in-Iaw, Roy and Billie Dean Evans, Lamar and Ann Evans of Bay City, L. B. and Anita Evans of New Braunfels; by seven grandchildren, Regina Cobb of St. Louis. Missouri, Donna Burlin and Michael Rouse of Baytown, Kimberly and Katy Evans, Jennifer and Julianne Collins of Bay City, and by six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, by one son, James Howard Evans on May 22, 1993 and by one brother, Rex Evans on Jan. 16, 1950.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 1996 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the local V.F.W. Post # 2438, will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers will be Clint Burchfield, B. J . Krenek, Roy Sanders, Donn Collins, Alex Tschaar and Mike Plemons. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

November 8, 1957 – February 20, 2014

Susan May Evans, 56, of Sargent, TX passed away February 20, 2014.

She was born November 8, 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan to Dennis Eugene Brando and the late Barbara Lee Thompson Brando.

She enjoyed spending time on the beach, and for a number of years, worked at Larry’s Fish House.

Survivors include her father, Dennis Eugene Brando; son, James Arnold and wife Sarah of Sargent; sister, Cheryl McAfee of Angleton; brother, Bruce Brando; grandchildren, Anneliese Arnold and Shannon Risinger; and a number of nieces and nephews.

To honor her wishes, her family will celebrate her life on the beach.
