Senior Class Honored With Many Socials

Picnic Supper

Miss Emma Gerhard entertained members of the Senior Class with a picnic supper on the banks of the beautiful Carancahua river near her home, an ideal place for such an outing. Everyone enjoyed the eats and entertainment furnished throughout the evening to the fullest extent.

Party At Junior Payne's

Junior Payne was host for a class party at his home last Friday evening. Junior is one of the boys who has given the class a party that everyone was glad they attended. Chinese checkers and dominoes furnished entertainment and the refreshments included a cake Junior had baked and decorated with senior class colors. Everyone was surprised with the artistic ability the cake demonstrated, and it was not only beautiful, but delicious. Junior's classmates are very proud of him.

Boat Sail

Another delightful affair was the boat sail given by Messrs. Wesley Buller and W. E. Sullivan, the former furnishing the boat and the latter, sponsor for the class, providing all the eats. The party left the wharf at six a. m. and returned about 8:30 that evening, with everyone having a grand time. But on Monday morning there was not a boy in the class who was not carrying a club to school to protect himself from a slap on the back, oh, that sunburn!

Every member of the class feel indebted to Messrs. Sullivan and Buller for this enjoyable outing.--Reporter

Rev. G. F. Gillespie Addresses Class at Baccalaureate Sun.

Closing exercises of the Palacios Schools began Sunday with the Baccalaureate services for the graduating class held in the high school auditorium. The stage was beautifully decorated with some of the season's choicest flowers.

The high school orchestra under the direction of Prof. J. D. Park played the processional while the twenty-eight young graduates entered the auditorium, and took their seats led by Elizabeth Glaros and John Lipscomb of the Junior Class.

The service opened with the invocation by Rev. L. W. Crouch followed by the Congregation singing "Faith of Our Fathers."

Preceding the address of Rev. G. F. Gillespie, Messrs. Rowland and Arnold Burton, Carlton Crawford and J. D. Park sang, "Calm O'er the Hill." Mr. Gillespie spoke directly to the young people, commending them for their work they had done and encouraging each to strive for a high education.

Dr. M. M. Wolf Delivers Address at Graduation Exercises

The gymnasium of the Palacios High School was filled to capacity last Thursday evening for the graduating exercises of the 1938-39 Class. Twenty-eight of our young people received diplomas for the completion of their high school work. Dr. M. M. Wolf, of Houston, gave the address which was full of interesting facts, yet given in such a manner that all were entertained.

The musical numbers, a violin duet and song by the Glee Club were especially good.

J. T Dickert gave the Salutatory and Kenneth Parten, the Valedictory. Medals were awarded by Rev. Keen to the following for special work done during the year. Kenneth Parten, Louise Crouch, Albert Killgore, Ruth Peterson, Elnor Peterson, Emma Gerhard, Clifton Bradshaw and Houston Savage.

T. W. Caffall, president of the school board presented the diplomas. The processional and recessional were given by the high school orchestra under the direction of J. D. Park.

Through the Portals... (Again)

The Old Palacios High School, now the East Side Annex, rang with laughter from some of the same folks that made its walls shake 50 years ago. The Class of 1939 held a reunion and reception on Saturday at the old school house, but took time out long enough to pose for pictures.
