Librada Castillo Funeral Held

Funeral services for Librada Castillo were held at 3 p. m. Sunday, August 27, at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. George Ramirez officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

A resident of Palacios for five years, she was born October 27, 1905 in Goliad, a daughter of Urbano and Blasita Ramirez Muniz. She died Friday, August 25, in Wagner General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Castillo, a week ago on August 18.

She is survived by five daughters, Caralina Rocha and Josephine Ybarra of Palacios, Sophia Torres of Houston, Paula De Los Santos of Vanderbilt and Mary Rocha of Alvin; one son, Delfino Martinez of Houston; two sisters, Josephine Aleman of Port Lavaca and Leonore Gutierrez of Goliad; one brother, Encarceanion Martinez of Rosharon; 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Santiago Castillo

Funeral services for Santiago Castillo were held Monday, March 2, at 8:15 a. m. at Rendon Funeral Home followed by Requiem Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 8:15 with the Rev. Eugene O’Callaghan officiating. Interment was in Palacios Cemetery.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Petronillo Castillo, he was born July 27, 1887, in Mexico. A former resident of Victoria, he had been a resident of Palacios for the past 23 years. He was a commercial fisherman. He died Friday at 10 p. m. in Wagner General Hospital after a long illness.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Alvnio Contrerras of Palacios, 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Castillo Funeral Is Held

Funeral services for Santos A. Castillo were held at 10 a. m. Monday, August 21, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Brian Crookes officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Rosary was recited at 8 p. m. Sunday in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel.

A resident of Palacios for 5? years, he was born November 29, 1912 in Goliad, a son of Pablo and Reves Aliman Castillo. He died Friday, August 18 in Wagner General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Librada Castillo of Palacios, five daughters, Caralina Rocha and Josephine Ybarra of Palacios, Sophia Torres of Houston, Paula De Los Santos of Vanderbilt and Mary Rocha of Alvin; one son, Delfino Martinez of Houston; one sister, Ceprianna Muniz of East Bernard; one brother, Matias Castillo of Vanderbilt; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Castro Services in Palacios

Funeral services for Arturo Vasquez Castro, Jr. were held at 10 a. m. Wednesday, November 14, in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were held that afternoon at 3:30 in the Palacios Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 8 p. m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel.

Son of the late Delores Vasquez and Arturo Vasquez Castro, Sr., he was born May 15, 1914, in Matamoros, Mexico. A resident of Palacios for 15 years, he died Monday, November 12 in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Castro of Palacios; daughters, Delores and Carmen Castro and Carolyn Harvey, all of Palacios; sons, Gerald Castro of Palacios and J. B. Harvey of Pasadena; 5 sisters, 6 brothers, 1 grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aprilla Brock Cavallin

Funeral services for Mrs. Aprilla Brock Cavallin were held in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, July 27, at 10 a. m. with Rev. Leon Maxwell officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Daughter of the late Della Adkins Brock and Frank Harrison Brock, she was born October 10, 1892 in Hays County, Texas. A resident of Palacios for 52 years, she was a housewife and a member of the Baptist Church. She passed away Sunday, July 25, in Wagner General Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Owen Cavallin of Palacios; four daughters, Mrs. S. B. (Dorothy) Harrington of Sugarland, Mrs. Clyde D. (Mickey) Crenshaw of Lake Jackson, Mrs. G. A. (Sue) Chiles of Sugarland, Mrs. Roy H. (Lou) Markwardt of Corpus Christi; one son, L. V. Powell of Heber Springs, Ark.; seven sisters, Mrs. Claudia Alexander of Gustine, Texas, Mrs. Dee Douglas, Mrs. Emma Schultz and Mrs. Eura Boehm of Sugarland, Mrs. Jewel Blair of Houston, Mrs. Nina Edwards of Galveston and Mrs. Blanche Tyler of California; three brothers, R. F. Brock of Houston, Luther Brock of Sugarland and Elmer Brock of Weimar; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Malcolm O. Cavallin

Funeral services for Malcolm O. Cavallin, who passed away Wednesday, April 20, in Wagner General Hospital, were held at 11 a. m. Friday, April 22, in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Maxwell officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Son of the late Malcolm Ludwig Cavallin and Christina Beats Larson Cavallin, he was born February 1, 1892, in Wayne, Kansas. A resident of Palacios for 53 years, he was a retired superintendent of the city water department, a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aprilla Cavallin, on July 25, 1976.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. S. B. Harrington and Mrs. G. A. (Sonny) Chiles of Sugarland, Mrs. Clyde Crenshaw of Lake Jackson and Mrs. Roy Markwardt of Ingleside; one son, L. V. Powell of Heber Springs, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Edna Cavazos

Mrs. Edna Cavazos, resident of Palacios for most of her life, died at 6 a. m. Thursday, July 24, in a Corpus Christi nursing home.

Born October 13, 1913 in Mexico, she was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had resided in Corpus Christi the past 3 and one half years.

Rosary was recited at 8 p. m. Friday at Rendon Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian McCullogh officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Cavazos of Corpus Christi; one son Abel Roy Cavazos of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Canuto Llanes and Mrs. Guadalupe Nunez, both of Corpus Christi and five grandchildren.

Janie L. Cerda

Funeral services for Janie L. Cerda, 67, of Baytown, Tx. were held Aug. 30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery.

Mrs. Cerda was born March 78, 1933 in Olivia, Tx. to Jose Angel and Guadalupe Navarro Leijha. She died Aug. 26, 2000 in Baytown.

She was survived by her mother of Bay City; daughters Jacqueline Ramirez of Palacios, Belinda Castillo of Bay City, and Dolly Craft of Baytown; a son, Joe Anthony Cerda of Brownwood; a sister, Frances Guerra of Bay City; brothers Ross N. Leijha of North Carolina and Lupe Leijha of New Mexico; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

Jose R. Cerda

Funeral services for Jose R. Cerda, 63, were held Jan. 25 at 3 p. m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Matula officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery.

Cerda was born March 19, 1922 in San Benito and died Jan. 23, 1986 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

Cerda was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a veteran of World War II, retired from Alcoa, and a resident of Palacios since 1951.

Survivors include his wife, Janie L. Cerda of Palacios; mother, Juanita Cerda of San Benito; three daughters, Jacqueline Cerda, Belinda Castillo and Delinda Cerda, all of Palacios; two sons, Joe Anthony Cerda of Bay City and Mark Adam Cerda of Palacios; two sisters, Maria Cerda Hernandez of San Benito and Juana Ojeda of Austin; one brother, Guadalupe R. Cerda of San Benito; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ollie Vargas, John Rodrigues, Joe Garza, Lupe Leija, Julio Alamia, and John Castillo.

A rosary was held Jan. 24 at 7 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel.

Mark Adam Cerda

Funeral services for Mark Adam Cerda, 20, of Palacios, were held Sept. 16, 1991 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Burial was in Palacios Cemetery.

Mr. Cerda was born Aug. 10, 1971 in Palacios to Jose And Janie Leijha Cerda. He died Sept. 13, 1991 at Wagner General Hospital.

A member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Mr. Cerda was a 1990 graduate of Palacios High School.

He is survived by his mother, Janie Leijha Cerda of Palacios; three sisters Jacqueline Cerda of Palacios; Belinda Castillo of Bay City and Delinda Craft of Baytown; one brother, Joe A. Cerda of Palacios; maternal grandmother, Guadalupe Leijha of Palacios; paternal grandmother, Juanita Cerda of San Benito, Tx. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Cerda, on Jan. 23, 1986.

Pallbearers were Alan Craft III, Albert Flores, Armando Espinoza, Victor Perez, Gilbert Duran and Ollie Vargas, Jr.

Cecil F. Cervantes

Cecil F. Cervantes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ysidro Cervantes, Sr. of Palacios, was born July 9, 1953, in El Campo. He had attended Palacios schools and was employed at a local service station.

Rosary was recited at 8 p. m. Monday at the Rendon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at the chapel at 1:45 p. m. Tuesday, October 13, followed by mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Armand Florizoone officiating. Interment was in Palacios Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents; one brother, Ysidro, Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. Robert N. Solis and Mrs. Tony G. Flores, all of Palacios and Mrs. Alvin Salinas of Bay City; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Cervantes of Corpus Christi and maternal grandfather, Lucas Fernandez of Bay City.

Juan Cerventes

Funeral services for Juan Cerventes were held Friday at 9:45 a. m. at Rendon Funeral Home Chapel and at 10 a. m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Harrold officiating. Burial was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Born February 2, 1891, in Mexico, he died Wednesday morning, December 13, at Wagner General Hospital following a brief illness.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Trinidad Perez of League City; a brother, Dionicio Cerventes of Corpus Christi, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Annie L. Chamblee

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie L. Shamblee [Chamblee], 81, of Palacios, were held January 1 at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Palacios with Rev. Eddie Cude officiating. Burial was in Palacios Cemetery.

Mrs. Shamblee was born March 8, 1901 in Kaufman County. She was the daughter of Rosie Lee and Mike M. Daniels of Honey Grove, Tx. She died Dec. 30, 1982 at Wagner General Hospital.

Mrs. Shamblee was married to Roy Douglas Shamblee July 21, 1918, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1981. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn Pauline Shamblee Taylor and one son, Freddie Wayne Shamblee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios.

Survivors include six daughters, Lorraine Smith, Faye Bates and Ethel Knuefke, all of Palacios, Margaret Cleveland of Victoria, Frances Bishop of Houston and Shirley Griffith of Edna; one son, Roy D. Shamblee, Jr. of Palacios; one sister, Mrs. Sam Duck of Honey Grove; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Eikenberg, Vernon Bates, Jr., Mark Bates, Bobby Kunefke, Alton Smith and Michael Griffith.

Clarence E. Chamblee

Funeral services for Clarence E. Chamblee of Port Lavaca were held at the Palacios Funeral Home at 3:30 p. m. Saturday, December 11, with the Rev. A. R. McGee of Victoria officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

A former resident of Palacios, he was born January 5, 1900 in Kaufman, Texas, son of W. F. “Jack” and Lula Glenn Chamblee. For many years he operated a service station here and in El Campo and for the past 12 years has managed a trailer park in Port Lavaca. He passed away December 9 in a Victoria hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Isora Chamblee of Port Lavaca; a daughter, Nancy Funderburk of Batesville, Ark.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Johnson and Mrs. Rubye Lechtenberg of Palacios; and two grandchildren.

Clifford Chamblee

Funeral services for Clifford “Bill” Chamblee were held Thursday, January 30, at 10 a. m. in the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Born August 16, 1903, in Kaufman County, Texas, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Chamblee, he had been a resident of Palacios since 1906. He died Tuesday, January 28, at 4 p. m. in the Brazosport Hospital following an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee, of Palacios; a daughter Mrs. Jerry (Bonnie) Washington of Freeport; a son, Guy Clifford (Nubbin) Chamblee of Port Lavaca; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Johnson and Mrs. Rubye Lechtenberg of Palacios; one brother, Clarence Chamblee of Port Lavaca and five grandchildren.

Freddie Wayne Chamblee

Funeral services for Freddie Wayne Chamblee of Brazoria, a former resident of Palacios, were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Maxwell and Rev. J. R. Gwin officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Son of Roy D. and Annie Daniels Chamblee, he was born September 18, 1938 in Kaufman, Texas. He was manager of Houston Industrial Service. He passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 16, in Brazoria.

He is survived by his wife Oveta Chamblee, one daughter, Renne Chamblee, both of Brazoria; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy D. Chamblee of Palacios; six sisters, Lorraine Smith, Faye Bates, Ethel Lee Kunefke, Shirley Griffith, all of Palacios, Margaret Cleveland of Victoria and Frances Smith of Houston; one brother, Roy C. Chamblee, Jr. of Palacios.

Isora Chamblee Funeral Rites Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence (Isora) Chamblee were held at 2 p. m. Monday, December 17, in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. R. McGee pastor of the Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Port Lavaca, officiating. Burial was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Daughter of the late William and Nancy Jane Ellis Lankford, she was born October 18, 1897, in Dawson, Texas. She was a resident of Palacios for many years, moving to El Campo and then to Port Lavaca, where she resided several years before her recent move to Batesville, Ark.

She was a member of the Alamo Heights Baptist Church, the Port Lavaca Chapter of the Eastern Star and Calhoun Chapter of the American Association for Retired Persons. She died Friday, Dec. 14, in Batesville following an extended illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Thomas of Batesville; 1 sister, Mae Lane of Glen Rose, Texas; one brother, Clinton Lankford of Brady and two grandchildren.

Lula Vance Chamblee

Mrs. Lula Vance Chamblee, wife of the late Jack Chamblee, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Spencer Johnson, Saturday morning, May 3, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Chamblee was born at Blooming Grove, Texas, September 28, 1883. On January 23, 1899 she was married to Jack Chamblee and to this union, six children were born, four sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy. Her husband went to his eternal home on January 1, 1940.

Mr. and Mrs. Chamblee and family came to Matagorda County in November, 1915, and located on a farm northeast of Palacios where they made their home all during these years and Mrs. Chamblee was living there until the time of her severe illness.

In her early womanhood she became a Christian and united with the Baptist Church in which she was a faithful member attending worship as long as her death would permit.

In spite of her intense suffering she remained gentle and kind to those who nursed her and was ever considerate of others even above herself.

She is survived by three sons, Clarence, of El Campo, Bill and Buster of Palacios; two daughters, Mrs. Spencer Johnson of Palacios, and Mrs. Joe Edge, of Indian Rocks, Fla., and five grandchildren. In her mother’s family there remain three of her brothers, John Glenn of Palacios, L. R. Glenn of Wills Point, and Nestor Glenn of Canton, and two sisters, Mrs. Howard Hindman of Houston and Mrs. Sally Rollins, of Stamford.

During the years of her residence near Palacios, Mrs. Chamblee has made a multitude of friends who mourn her going.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Palacios at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, May 9th, with her Pastor, Rev. L. W. Crouch, officiating, and a friend of the family for many years, Rev. George F. Gillespie assisting. Interment was made in the Palacios Cemetery under the direction of Palacios Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were three of her nephews, Calvin, C. B. and Melvin Sexton and three of Mr. Chamblee’s nephews, Howard and LeRoy Hindman, and Billy Jenkins of Palacios.

Mrs. J. M. Chamblee – Martha Luciano Cox Chamblee

The deceased was born Martha Luciano Cox in the state of Tennessee on April 7, 1860. In 1877 she was married to Mr. J. M. Chamblee who passed away in 1929. To this union were born ten children, three of whom survive the passing of their mother. Mrs. Chamblee was a member of the Methodist Church with her membership at Pleasant Valley, Texas. Recently she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Jenkins, near Palacios. She had been in failing health for some two years. She was the quiet modest mother who gave her best thought, love and devotion for those whom she loved. She is survived by her three children, Mrs. Alma Hinderman, of Houston, Mrs. J. W. Jenkins, of Palacios, and Mr. R. D. Chamblee of Palacios. Also she leaves 33 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, together with a multitude of friends who lament her going.

Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock conducted by Rev. L. W. Crouch, and burial made in the Palacios cemetery.

Roy Douglas "Dan" Chamblee, Jr.

Roy Douglas (Dan) Chamblee, Jr., 81, of Palacios, died Monday, November 10, 2003 at Citizens Hospital in Victoria, Texas.

He was born in Palacios, Texas on January 9, 1922 to Roy Douglas Chamblee, Sr. and Annie Lloyd Daniels Chamblee.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Palacios. He was a retired cotton and maize farmer and former co-owner of the Farmer's Cotton Gin.

He was a member for over 53 years, and past Master of the Palacios Masonic Lodge No. 990 A. F. & A. M. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry S. J. Arabia Shrine Temple, Houston, Texas, Gulf Coast Shrine Club, Bay City, Texas.

He received the Golden Trowel Award from the Grand Lodge of Texas for exceptional service in his Masonic work and outstanding service to his church and community on September 6, 2001.

He is survived by: wife, Maloy (Wanda) Chamblee of Palacios; daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Lee Brown of Longview, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Wade Daniel of Orange, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Randy Braddock of Grayson, Louisiana; six sisters, Loraine Smith, Faye Bates, Ethel Kunefke, Frances Milam of Palacios, Margaret Cleveland, Shirley Griffith of Victoria, Texas; one sister-in- law, Oveta Chamblee of Brazoria, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashley Daniel of Orange, Texas, Rachel Brown of Longview, Texas, Michael Braddock of Grayson, Louisiana; mother-in-law, Georgia Inez Lemmons of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four sisters, Mary Alice, Wanda Jean, Joyce Ann and Evelyn Taylor; two brothers; infant, Fred Chamblee; and one granddaughter, Kristina Fyffe.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Palacios and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Betheseda, MD 20814.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Palacios, with the Rev. Bob Hairston, Rev. J. R. Gwin officiating.

Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Charles Eikenberg, Bobby Kunefke, Vernon Bates, Jr. Mark Bates, Alton Smith, David Smith, Michael Griffith and Dwayne Griffith.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at Palacios Funeral Home.

Maloy Inez “Wanda” Chamblee

A memorial service honoring the life of Maloy Inez (Wanda) Chamblee, age 88 will be held April 29, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Palacios, with Wade Daniel officiating.

Wanda was born in Rayville, Louisiana on December 7, 1934 and she met her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2023.

She was greeted by her husband, Roy D. (Dan) Chamblee, Jr., parents, C. M. “Dick” Reitzell, Georgia Inez Reitzell Lemmons. husband Gene, her son Charles L Braddock, her brother Edwin Reitzell, sister-in-law Teresa, sister Peggy Murphy, brother-in-law Tommy, brother-in-law Pirl Linton, brother-in-law Mack McCoy, nephew Calvin McCoy, niece Belinda Brown and granddaughter, Kristina Fyffe.

Wanda is lovingly remembered by her daughter Gaye Brown, daughter Rebecca Daniel and husband Wade, daughter-in-law Randy Braddock, grandson Michael Braddock and wife Bethany, great-grandchildren Jack Braddock and Amelia Braddock, granddaughter Ashley Daniel Droigk and husband Mark, granddaughter Rachel Brown Holbrook and husband Ryan, great-grandchildren, Gia, Evan, Enzo and Chloe Holbrook, sister Mackie Sue Reitzell McCoy Linton and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She graduated from Clarks High School, attended St. Francis Medical School of Nursing, Monroe, Louisiana which started a career that touched many lives and gave her great joy. Wanda was a loving and compassionate nurse, a true friend with a gentle spirit and passion for caring for others. Being a wife and mother and her family were most important to her.

Roy Douglas Chamblee, Sr.

Roy D. Chamblee, Sr. of Palacios, died in Wagner General Hospital Thursday evening, Jan. 15 at the age of 82.

He was born in Kaufman County on Jan. 21, 1898. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn Chamblee Taylor, and one son, Freddie Wayne Chamblee.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Daniel Chamblee; six daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Smith, Mrs. Faye Bates, Mrs. Ethel Kunefke, all of Palacios, Mrs. Margaret Cleveland of Victoria, Mrs. Frances Smith of Houston and Mrs. Shirley Griffith of Edna; one sons, Roy Douglas Chamblee, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Jenkins of Palacios; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Jan. 17 at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Leon Maxwell in charge of services and Rev. J. R. Gwin and Rev. Eddie Cude officiating. Interment was in Palacios Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Guy (Nubbin) Chamblee, Billy Jenkins, Bobby Jenkins, Joe Jenkins III, Lowell Johnson and Michael Day.

William F. Chamblee

William Fletcher “Jack” Chamblee who died in the Nightingale hospital in El Campo, Monday night, Jan. 1, was born in New Albany, Miss., March 5, 1881. At the age of ten years he moved with his parents to Kaufman, Texas, where he attended school and grew to manhood.

On Jan. 23, 1899 he was married to Miss Lula Glenn and to this union six children were born four sons, and two daughters. One son, Kenneth, died in infancy.

Mr. Chamblee and family came to Matagorda County in November, 1915, and located on a farm northeast of Palacios. He was one of the most successful farmers of this section and his products were known throughout south Texas for their excellent quality.

In early manhood he united with the Baptist Church, of which he was a faithful member and attended services regularly as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Clarence, of El Campo, Bill and Buster, of Palacios, two daughters, Mrs. Spencer Johnson, of Palacios, and Mrs. Joe Edge, of Houston; two grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Mattie Chamblee, of Terrell, Tex., two sisters, Mrs. Alma Hindman, of Houston, Mrs. Ruth Jenkins, of Palacios, and one brother, Douglas Chamblee of Terrell, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, with the pastor, Rev. L. W. Crouch, officiating, assisted by Rev. Knight of El Campo.

Interment was made in the Palacios Cemetery under the direction of El Campo, assisted by the Palacios Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Frank Stallard, G. A. Salsbury, E. B. Hogg, G. G. Lawson, L. O. Hill and John D. Bowden.
