Funeral services for Bessie Spradley, 85, of Pledger, are scheduled for 11 a. m. Saturday at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. F. R. Cones officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. Friday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel in Bay City.

Mrs. Spradley was born May 23, 1908, in Pledger to Richard D. and Mamie Amey-Barnes and died March 24, 1994, in the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.

She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include two daughters, Zaide Armstead of Needville and Lois Spradley of Pledger; three sons, Robert Spradley, Herman Spradley and Unice Spradley, all of Pledger; a sister, Beulah Thomas of Bay City and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Unice Spradley Jr., the Rev. Carl Spradley, Wayne Spradley, Robbie Harris, Reginald Harris, Robert Harris and Greling Matthews.

Honorary pallbearers are Unice Spradley, Herman Spradley, Robert Spradley, J. D. Amboree, Charlie Harris, L. B. Matthews, Sterling Armstead, the Edwards Pride Eastern Stars 346 and Aura Leigh Courts 155.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home of Bay City.

Mrs. Gertie Spradley, 86, of Austin died at her residence April 24. She was a former resident of Pledger. Survivors include: daughter, Mrs. Alice M. Houston of Austin;  four grandchildren, Mrs. Betty Faye Loving, Willie Houston, Kim Houston of Austin, and Richard Jackson of Pledger; son in law, Willie Houston of Austin; daughter in law Mrs. Velma Plummer of Pledger; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Haynes of Port Arthur. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 1 p. m. at the Union Baptist Church in Pledger with Rev. J. H. James officiating. Interment will be at the Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SPRADLEY, Mrs. Joice, age 93, of Pledger, Texas, passed away July 22 at Matagorda General Hospital. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Henrietta McBride of Bay City; one son, M. S. Spradley of Pledger; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Green of Wharton. Two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Spencer and Mrs. Genova Matthews of Pledger, and one brother, Professor Spencer of Bay City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, July 26, at the Union Baptist Church, Pledger, the Reverend A. L. Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Union Baptist Cemetery. Duncan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BAY CITY - Aaron Stredic Sr., 81, of Bay City, died Monday, March 22, 2004.

He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Pledger, to the late Allen Sr. and Letha Austin Stredic.

Survivors: daughters, Flora Jackson, Nelda Jackson, and Vivian Stredic; sons, Aaron Stredic Jr., Earol Stredic, and Dr. Elvin Hold; sister, Gussie Baldridge; brother, Allen Stredic Jr.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mother Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. K.J. Griggs officiating.

Burial will be at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Allen Stredic Sr.

Funeral services for Allen Stredic Sr., 94, of Bay City, will be at 11 a. m. Monday at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City, the Rev. K. J. Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery, Pledger.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. Sunday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and 10 - 11 a. m. Monday at the church.

Stredic was born Sept. 25, 1892 in Pledger to Phillip Stredic and died June 3, 1987 in Matagorda General Hospital.

He was a Baptist and belonged to the St. James Lodge No. 217 AF and AM Masons.

Survivors include a friend, Carrie Powell of Bay City; six children, Rubin Stredic of Houston, Cleveland Stredic of Wadsworth, Gussie Baldridge of Oakland, Calif., J. C. and Aaron Stredic  of Bay City and Allen Stredic Jr. of Beaumont; 32 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers include Jeremiah Woodard, James Higgins, Lewis Burnett, Robert Alexander, T. H. Higgins III and Glenn Stredic.

Honorary pallbearers are usher and auxiliaries of Mother Zion Baptist Church.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.
