Glen Williams

Funeral services for Glen Williams Sr., 76, of Pledger [Matagorda County, Texas], will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Rev. J. Lewings officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Nov. 8, 2005, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Pledger to A.D. and Mamie Turner Williams.

Survivors include sons, Glen Williams Jr., A.D. Williams II, Lynn Anthony Williams and Cleon Williams, all of Wharton; daughters, Bobbie Brown of Houston, Elvira Bess, Mary Allen and Kaye Williams, all of Wharton; sisters, Louise Watson of Freeport, Mamie Etta Piper of Houston and Mary Alice Gordon of Wharton; 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services for Herman Williams, 50, of Pledger, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Union Baptist Church, Pledger, with burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation and guest book register will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

He was born in Pledger, Texas, August 15, 1961, to Harris Williams and Delois Pines Williams, and passed away November 11, 2011, in Houston, Texas.

Survivors include: three brothers, Gerry Williams, Harris Williams, Jr. and Victor Williams; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Mamie Williams, 93, of Pledger, will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Old Bethlehem Baptist Church in New Gulf, Rev. A C. Gardner officiating. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p. m. and 6 to 8 p. m. Friday, Oct. 9 at E. Viola and Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Williams was a member of Old Bethlehem Baptist Church and a member of Senior Friends.

Williams is survived by son, Glen Williams of Pledger; daughters, Louise Watson of Freeport, Mamie Etta Piper of Houston, Ada Harris of Van Vleck, and Mary Alice Gordon of Wharton; sister, Daisy Talbert of Freeport, R. Lee Sims of Wharton, Lena Penrice of Boling, and Vera Thorpe of Iago; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clint Harris, Johnson Williams, Jr., Edward E. Gordon, Jr., Willie Williams, John H. Piper, Jr., A. D. Williams, Glen Williams, Jr., and Benjamin Sasser.

Honorary pallbearers Glen Williams, Edward E. Gordon, Sr., Marion Watson, Charlie Harris.

Arrangements are with E. Viola Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Funeral services for Jameel Woods, 18, of Bay City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Murray Martin, pastor and the Rev. L.C. Cunningham, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow immediately after services at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger, Texas.
