Funeral services for Mrs. Isabella Watkins Jackson, age 99, of Pledger, will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 1996, at 11 a. m., at the Union Baptist Church in Pledger, with the Rev. Joe James officiating, and the Rev. C. C. Hayes, presiding. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Friday until 9 p. m. in the Chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, and Saturday from 10 to 11 a. m. at the church. Mrs. Jackson was born in Boling, Texas, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1896, to Richard and Cynthia Watkins, and died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1996, in Houston. Survivors include six children, Augusta Tilley and Cynthia Colbert, both of Corpus Christi, Cynthia Duncan, Johnnie Jr. and Richard Jackson, both of Houston, and Jackawa Jackson of Whittier, California. Also 30 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Jackson, five children, Catherine, Nancy, Lee Andrew, Robert and Sylvester, and other siblings. Active pallbearers will include Robert Glen Jackson, Chris Jackson, Ricky Jackson, Randy Jackson, Victor Tilley, Roy Lester Jackson and Calvin Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will include her sons and grandsons.

Funeral services for Addie Jane James, 90, of Pledger were [scheduled] for 2 p. m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. C. C. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. Friday at the Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. James was born Oct. 9, 1904 in Wharton County to Hilliard and Cora Johnson-Matthews and died Sept. 2, 1994 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.

A resident of the Pledger community, she was a Baptist.

Survivors include six children, J. L. James of Bay City, Roosevelt James of Pledger, Earline James Rideaux of Pledger, Odessa James Moses of Boling, R. L. James of Boling, and Freddie James of Danciger; one sister, Carrie Townsend of Wharton; six foster grandchildren, one play daughter, Annais Davis; four daughters-in-law, Willie Pearl James, Lillie Bell James, Nina James and Myrtle James; 47 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Steve James, three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Freddie C. James, Freddie James Jr., Charles James, Roger James, Wilford James and James Moses Sr.

Honorary pallbearers are J. L. James Sr., Roosevelt James, R. L. James, Freddie James Sr., Lawrence James and Kenneth R. James.

On August 29, 1953, a son was born to J. L. and Willie Pearl James Sr. in Pledger, Texas, named J. L. James Jr.

He was raised and attended school in Van Vleck, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age.

After graduating from high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University and shortly after joined the United States Army.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Trina Williams on July 17, 1973. Two children blessed this union, Olympia and Broderick James.

He was called home on Friday, September 16, 2005, in Houston, Texas.

He leaves to cherish many memories: a loving wife, Trina James; two children, Broderick James and Olympia James of Killeen, Texas; four sisters, Edith Johnson of Bay City, Texas, Earnestine Murroy of Pledger, Texas, Bonnie Lola Allen of Bay City, and Tiny Faye James of Bay City; three brothers, Carlton Ray James and Freddie C. James of Bay City, and Andrew James (Judy) of Dickerson, Texas; two granddaughters, Kosmone and Brelyn James; three grandsons, Trashode, Arthur and Broderick Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter and parents, J.L. and Willie Pearl James.

Funeral services for J. L. James Jr., 52, of Bay City, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005, at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck, Texas, with the Rev. Ruben Newell.

Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger, Texas.

Mr. J.L. James Jr. will lie in state from 1 p.m. until the funeral services Saturday.

Visitation will be in the chapel of Green’s Mortuary from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Pearl James of Bay City, four daughters, Edith Johnson of Bay City, Ernestine Murry and husband Roy of Pledger, Bonnie Lola Allen of Bay City, and Tina Faye James of Bay City; four sons, J. L. James Jr. and wife Trenia of Bay City, Freddie C. James of Bay City, Carlton Ray James and wife Patricia of Hudgins Bottom, Andrew James and wife Judy of Dickinson; three brothers, Roosevelt James of Pledger, R. L. James and wife Nina of Pledger and Freddie James and wife Lillie of Danciger; two sisters, Earline Rideaux of Pledger and Odessa Moses of New Gulf, aunt Carrie Townsend of Wharton; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father , two sisters and a brother.

Active pallbearers are Michael Allen, Ernest Johnson Jr., Bobby James, Wilford James, Kenneth James and Charles James. Honorary pallbearers are J. L. James Jr., Freddie James, Andrew James, Carlton Ray James, Freddie James Sr., and R. L. James.

Mrs. James was born Feb. 28, 1930, to Edgar Sr. and Willie Mae Tickle Williams in Independence, La., and died Sept. 2, 1991, at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt James of Pledger; five daughters, Paula Woodard, Flora Lunsford and Tyra Spradley, all of Pledger, and Evelyn Hudson and Margaret Hightower of Freeport; four sons, Kenneth and Pernard James of Pledger and Willford and Mallory James of Freeport; her mother, Willie Mae Harden of Galveston; a grandmother, Flora Tickles of Galveston; 53 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a family of friends.

Pallbearers are DeWayne Roberson, Marvin Woodard, Clifford Williams, Roy Hudson, Shawn Hudson and Shawneil Burguss.

Willie was born to the union of Elonoza Roy Stevens and Sarah Ann Austin in Wharton. She passed away Friday June 30,2000 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston. She is survived by four daughters. Edith Johnson, Lola Allen, Tiny Faye James of Bay City and Ernestine Murray of Pledger, Texas. Four sons: Carlton Ray James and wife Patricia and J.L. James and Trenia of Bay City and Andrew James and Judy of Dickinson,Texas, and Freddie C. James of Bay City, three sisters: Myrtle Lee Hawkins of Pledger, Josie Marie Steward of Hallettsville, Texas and Nellie V. Davis. Brother John D. Fisher and Linda of Bay City; step mother Erma Stevens of Bay City; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and one brother.

The pallbearers are to be Michael Allen Jr., Elonza James, Renaldo Sharley, Carlton James Jr., Deon James, and Broaderick James.

She was born in Wharton on Monday, Nov. 23, 1903, to Esau Jefferson and Rebecca Dunnican Jefferson, and died Sunday, May 26, 1996, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.

Survivors include one daughter, Vertis Gray of Houston, and two sons, Wilbert Matthews of Houston. Also one sister, Gertrude James of Boling, and one brother, Raymond Felder of Houston. She leaves 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruthie Lee Edwards, and three sons, L. B. Matthews, Vernon Matthews and Ed Matthews.

Active pallbearers will include Raymond Jackson, Harold Matthews, Joseph Anderson, Benford Davis, Ernest Taylor Jr. and Dennis Jackson.

Mrs. Johnson was born on March 5, 1943 in Pledger to Isom Peter and Coren Plummer and died on June 10, 1994 in Wharton.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Pledger.

Survivors include her husband William Edward Johnson Sr. of Pledger; her father Isom Peter Plummer of Pledger; 2 sons and daughters in law, William Edward and Ollis Tine Johnson of Wharton and Jimmie and Felicia Johnson of El Campo; 5 brothers and sisters in law, G. L. and Linda Plummer of Richmond, Robert and Melissa Plummer of Houston, E. J. and Linda Plummer of Huntsville, Alabama, Ronnie Plummer of Huntsville, Alabama; three aunts, five uncles, two grandchildren raised by Mrs. Johnson, Jamale and Rashad Johnson of Pledger; six sisters in law, four brothers in law, 10 grandchildren; and daughter in law Rosa Mary of El Campo.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Mrs. Johnson was born on April 22, 1947 to J. L. James and Willie Pearl James. She died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at UTMB in Galveston.

Edith is survived by her children: one son, Earnest Johnson of Houston; and one daughter, Lisa Johnson, also of Houston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
