Lacy Cemetery

From Groveton, TX take State Highway 94 toward Apple Springs, TX for four miles to just past the Caney Creek bridge. Turn right on Farm to Market road 3317. Follow this road for about a mile & a half, & you will see the cemetery.

Miss Elline Patrick owned the Lacy Cemetery land. She married Elder Amos Lacy, Sr. Amos Lacy, Jr., had the adjoining land. As time passed, a community developed. Located near the Groveton, Lufkin, and Northern railroad switch for the logging camp, the community became known as Lacy's Switch. -- from Mrs. Lillie Hunter Conner's account of Lacy in the Trinity County Beginnings.

For the compiled list, both Trinity County Cemeteries ©1980 and the second edition Trinity County Texas Cemeteries © 1992 both published by Trinity County Historical Commission (TCHC) were consulted.  For the second edition, Mr. Tommie Thomas identified many of his unmarked family graves.  Bracketed items are either observed double headstones or verbally "found" information about the person. The cemetery information was compiled on 20 June 2002 by TCHC Cemetery Committee Members: This cemetery has not been physically checked for the 2002 cemeteries’ survey, however Letty Harrington's TxGenWeb Tombstone Project was consulted to compile the list.
