Obituary of Cornelius VanDenElzen - March 1, 1921

Cornelius Vanden Elzen, a well known pioneer settler, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. Binon, of the town of DePere, Tuesday morning, aged 83 years.  Mr. Vanden Elzen was born at Zeeland, Holland, May 20, 1837, and came to this country shortly after his marriage is 1858.  For nearly thirty years the family lived on a farm in the town of Rockland, until about twenty-five years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Vanden Elzen moved into the city.  Mrs. Vanden Elzen died Aug. 21, 1920, and he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. M. Marcellis and Mrs. D. Binon, and several grandchildren. The funeral was held from St. Mary's Church, of which he had been one of the original members, this morning, with interment at Mount Olivet.  The pallbearers were Jos. Denis, Jos. Henrigillis, Aug. Matzke, Jac. Gossen, M. Zelten, and J. Denoble.
