Obituary of Elizabeth Reuschenbach Matzke - December 29, 1939

Mrs. Philip B. Matzke, town of DePere, a resident of Brown County since birth, died at 11:15 Friday night at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Green Bay.  Death was due to complications.  Mrs. Matzke would have been 62 had she lived until Jan 31, 1940.

Mrs. Matzke, who was born in Fort Howard, resided there and in the town of Humboldt and Glenmore until her marriage in 1900, when she took up residence in the town of DePere.  She is survived by her husband, eight sons and one daughter.  The sons are Edward, Frank, Arthur, Carl, Green Bay; Wilbur, Bellevue; Sylvester, William, Joseph, at home.  The daughter, Mrs. Bernard Vermeire, DePere.  A brother, Frank Koenig, Glenmore, and eight grand children also survive.

A solemn requiem high mass with three priests was held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary's church, DePere, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The pallbearers were her nephews; Harry Koenig, Clem Matzke, Ray Matzke, Wm. Becher, Fred Matzke, Philip Kaster.
