Matzke, Richard "Dick"

Richard "Dick" Matzke, 78, of Green Bay, formerly of De Pere and the Fox Valley, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at a local hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born August 4, 1927, to the late Fredrick and Delia (Michiels) Matzke. Dick farmed in Ledgeview for many years. He later drove truck and sold real estate for a number of years. He enjoyed dancing, especially at the Holiday Inn in Green Bay.

Survivors include his children: Mary (Robert) Sobralske, Waukesha; Fred (Nancy) Matzke, Green Bay; Mark (Margaret) Matzke, De Pere; Jane Matzke, De Pere; four grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, William, and Elizabeth. Further survived by two sisters; Jean Vande Walle, De Pere; Ellen (Dick) Maes, St. Louis, MO; his fiance, Bonnie Gereau, Howard; numerous nieces, nephews, and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Matzke also survive Dick.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Matzke, and his longtime companion, Margaret LaPlante.

Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St., Green Bay, with Fr. Richard Getchel and Deacon Bob Nooker officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
