Virginia Walters Nov 1996   Thomas C. ALLEN married  Harriet M. FISHER at Shullsburg, WI (Lafayette County) in November, 1855.  Witnesses at this marriage were a Mr and Mrs John ALLEN, presumably some relation.  Thomas and Harriet later moved to Iowa.  Can anyone shed light on the John ALLENs?  Harriet's parents were Samuel and Anna Maria (WOODWARD) FISHER, apparently of Shullsburg.  I am searching Thomas' parents and siblings.

STAENDER // STENDER // STAINER // SCHLESWIG // HOLSTEIN // KAHL

David A. Kluver  Dec 1996  I am researching my ancestor Claus Heinrich STAENDER (STENDER, STAINER),  18 Oct 1821, SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN, - 21 Apr 1893,  Remsen IA,) present in Platteville township Grant Co, WI in the 1870 federal census.  His daughter, Charlotte, married Wilhelm KAHL (21 Dec 1840, Holstein - 6 Feb 1905, Remsen IA)  that year; they are listed in the 1880 federal census, also of Platteville.  The 1870 census lists Claus Heinrich as Henry STAINER, 50, with wife Henriette, 50, and children Dorothy, 13, Rudolf, 10, and Otto, 7, all born Holstein.  Clause Heinrich's 1893 death record states that son Otto, 27, remained in Platteville.  None of the records I have access to (mostly census records) state the year of emigration of either the STENDER family or of  Wilhelm KAHL (he had two brothers, August, born about 1843, and Heinrich/Henry, born about 1836). The volumes of Germans to America do not appear to help either.  I live in Texas and thus do not have access to any records specific to Grant Co.  I would appreciate any information concerning surviving relations or points of origin or residence of my STENDER or KAHL relations.
