I believe that the house was built by Michael Koiner, then passed to his son, John CALVIN, then to his grandson Walter A. Koiner, when it passed out of the family, about 1920. I have been told that there are interesting Civil War stories about the place. I would especially like to know where the old outbuildings were located and when the front of the house was altered. HUTCHASON, HUTCHERSON, HUTCHESON, HUTCHINGSON, HUTCHINSON, HUTCHISON posted by Pamela S. Hutchison on Thursday, August 13, 1998

My husband is Douglas Wayne HUTCHISON born 8-4-64 in Ft. Worth TX His father is Virgil Wayne HUTCHISON, I he was born in Hill Co. TX (I can’t recall the date of hand but I can ask him) He is still alive and lives in Whitney, TX (which is in Hill Co.) Virgils father was Denny HUTCHISON, also born in Hill Co. TX and died in Nov of 1980 and is buried in Whitney, TX Denny’s father is Piney (listed as Pines) Joe Hutchison. I can’t remember off the top of my head when he was born but he lived in Hill Co. (Whitney) Texas. He is buried there too. He was born in Hill Co. Tx also. Piney Joes father was Obediah Houston (or O.H. as he preferred to be called, or O.P. as the census takers sometimes listed him) Hutchison. We have reason to believe that his middle name may have been Hutson. Some of the really elderly relatives called him Obediah Houston Hutchison and some called him Obediah Hutson Hutchison There is no signature that is readable enough to tell which it is. He was born in Alabama in 1839. He came to Hill Co. TX in 1860 and bought property. I don’t know whether he got married before he left Ark or after he got to TX But he died sometime between 1880 and 1881. I next find Obediah Houston (or Hutson) Hutchison, is living with his mother, Elizabeth Hutchison in the 1850 Clark Co. Ark census with his 5 brothers. The oldest William M. Hutchison born in TN in 1830 (who Married Almira Hudson on 28 Aug. 1851 in Clark Co. Ark. Almira turns out to be a relation of a William Hudson whom Elizabeth, William M. Hutchison’s mother, would later marry in Aug. 27, 1857 also in Clark Co. Ark.) George born 1833 in TN, Benjamin I. Born in 1837 in Ala., Samuel T.born in 1841 in Ala. and Sebastian born 1843 in Ala. In this 1850 listing there is no record of Elizabeths husband and since I know that in 1857, Elizabeth married her neighbor William Hudson, I presume that her first husband died sometime between 1843 (when their last child was born) and 1850 (when he disappeared from the census) As previously mentioned, Elizabeth remarries in 1857 and later she and her new husband move to Hill Co. TX where they can be found as neighbors to Obediah in the 1870 census. For three years I have been stuck at this spot. I have been trying to track down any of Obediah’s brothers, and have, in fact, traced William M.’s line to an Evelyn Crow in Houston (present day) I have not had any luck with the other brothers. I have been given some information regarding a S.W. (Samuel W. Hutcheson, also listed as S.W. Hutchingson in Ala. 1840 Madison Co. Census) who is listed in the McMinn Co. TN 1830 census, who was married to an Elizabeth Ballard (married in Roane Co. TN 28 Feb 1829) I am trying to determine if this is my Elizabeth and her husband. Samuel's father was listed as James Hutcheson from Augusta Co. VA and he was married to a Mary Gregory (I believe also from Augusta Co. VA).

Trying to sort one John HUTCHISON (or HUTCHESON or HUTCHINSON or HUTCHASON or HUTCHERSON) from the others in Augusta County. Searching for the ancestors of John HUTCHISON (b 1730 Augusta County d 1796 Monroe County). Believe that John was son of George HUTCHISON (b 1707 d 1767) vic of Tinkling Spring/Christian¹s Creek in Augusta County. George is believed to be the son of John HUTCHISON (b 1687 in Ulster d 1775 in Orange County or Augusta County). Questions: where and when did John arrive from Ulster? Did he not have a son named George and a son named John? I know that George HUTCHISON had a son named John (b 1730 vic Tinkling Spring in Augusta County and d 1796 Monroe County). I know that George HUTCHISON was one of original members of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church (near present day Fishersville, VA.) as were a William HUTCHISON and John HUTCHISON. Many other HUTCHISONS in that vicinity and some moved to Monroe County in mid 1700s. Data or clues in separating those people would be deeply appreciated.

My ancestor, Rees THOMAS - October 8, 1751 Corneilus cook and Ann of Granville Co., N. Car. late of Augusta Co., Va. Deed to Rees Thomas for 350 acres on Brock's Creek on July 12, 1753. I have much more on him, but am trying to prove he is the same Rees Thomas Jr., son of Rees Thomas, born abt 1669 in Wales, who came to Wm. Penn's land in Pa. He was a single man; married Martha Awbrey; their son, Rees Thos. Jr. born 22 Feb 1693; m. Elizabeth Jones; I think he is the Rees Tho. who purchased land on Brock's Creek, which Rees leaves his will, but there is nothing on a will for the Rees Thos. Jr. This is detailed, to explain, but I have used the Thomas Book, and Chalkley's also other records and have spent a great deal of time. The Rees who was born in Wales June 4, 1690 & went to Va. (Thomas Book) is wrong: For Rees in Va. Came to the Linville Presby. Church Constituted 1761] "from a church of the SAME KIND IN NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE." BAILEY posted by Claudia Fischer on Friday, August 28, 1998

Seeking information on Joel BAILEY who was an inmate at the West Lunatic Asylum in Augusta Co. from the mid 1830's until after 1850. Joel was listed on the 1850 Census as "insane". Joel's family lived in Harrison Co., VA/WV, and are listed on the census without Joel from 1840 forward. Are there any records that can be accessed from the West Lunatic Asylum? Is there a listing of graves from the instituion's grave yard? I do not have a date of death for Joel but he is not listed in Augusta or Harrison (then Taylor) Counties in the 1860 census. Any help appreciated.

MCDOWELL, MILLE, MILLER, MILLS posted by Bob Stewart on Monday, August 31, 1998

My query concerns the Iron Works at Mossy Creek. I have variously seen it descr ibed as belong to MILLER, MILLS, and MILLE. My ggg-grandfather Hugh H. MCDOWELL married a daughter of the owner, Henry. The daughter was either Elizabeth or Margaret, with the last name of MILLER, Mille, or Mills. Can anyone help me with this mystery? I believe Elizabeth was born about 1797 in Augusta, and died in 1854 in Saline county, MO. Thanks, Bob Stewart bstewart2@juno.com
