Indenture made the     day of August, 1761, between John Bailey and William Price, for 50 pounds, conveying 200 acres on Totearro Creek, adjoining Johnson's line. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture acknowledged in Court on August 24, 1761, by John Bailey. Deed Book 7, Page 1.

Indenture made the 23rd day of June, 1761, between John Geer and Thomas Harrison, for 344 pounds, conveying 400 acres on South side of the Three Creeks, and being part of a tract (missing) on February 25, 1719, and by the said John Davis conveyed to Matthias Davis by Deed of Gift recorded in Brunswick County and by the said Matthias Davis conveyed to the said John Geer partly unto by Indenture dated September 27, 1749. Signed by John Geer (his mark). Witnesses were Edward Goodrich, Thomas Bridges, and Pen Hurst. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on August 24, 1761, by John Geer and Martha, his wife, personally appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 2.

Margaret Ferrel for the natural love and affection unto Lewis Malone, my son, conveying One Negro man about 10 years of age named Dick, dated the 24th day of August, 1761. Witnesses were Isaac Row Alton, Samuel Sexton (his mark), George Walton, and Sewell Sexton (his mark). Deed of Gift was proved by the oaths of Siswell Sexton, Isaac Walton, and George Walton, in Court on August 24, 1761. Deed Book 7, Page 4.

Indenture made the 24th day of August, 1761, between Thomas Harrison and Edward Goodrich, for 120 pounds, conveying 258 acres on North side of the Three Creeks, adjoining lands of John Whitting (Whittington), John Butt on or near the Jumping Branch, John Rivers, John Maclin, and John Olliver on the head of the Little Meadows. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture acknowledged in Court on August 24, 1761, by Thomas Harrison. Deed Book 7, Page 5.

Indenture made the 31st day of March, 1759, between John Loyd and John Maclin, for 82 pounds, 3 shillings, conveying 1 Negro woman named Lucy, other slaves, household furniture, etc., provided that if money repaid by May 22, next, conveyance is void. Signed by John Loyd (his mark). Witnesses were Thomas Denton and Joseph King. Deed Book 7, Page 6.

Indenture made the 20th day of August, 1761, between William Cocke and wife, Rebecca, of Lunenburg County, parties of the first part, and the Rev. Gronow Owen, for 90 pounds, conveying 400 acres on South side of Reedy Creek, and being the same land conveyed to John Jones by Letters Patent dated Augsut 20, 1760. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on August 24, 1761, by William Cocke. Deed Book 7, Page 7.

Indenture made the 26th day of September, 1761, between Joseph Cannon of Dinwiddie County, and Frederick Jones of Prince George County, parties of the first part, and William Rideout of Dinwiddie County, for 16 pounds, conveying 160 acres, and being same land granted by patent dated August 16, 1756. Witnesses were Isham Epps, Junr., Benjamin Bishop, and Thomas Harris Williams. Indenture acknowledged in Court on September 28, 1761, by Joseph Cannon and proved as to Frederick Jones by the oaths of Benjamin Bishop and Thomas Harris Williams, and Frances, wife of Joseph Cannon, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 9.

Indenture made the 28th day of September, 1761, between Thomas Jackson and Burwell Jackson, for 100 pounds, conveying 120 acres, adjoining land of Peter Simmons, Reedy Creek at the mouth of Cabbin Barnch, and land of Roberson, and being part of a larger tract of 448 acres granted to Thomas Jackson by Letters of Patent dated June 2, 1760. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on September 28, 1761, by Thomas Jackson. Deed Book 7, Page 10.

Indenture made the 24th day of August, 1761, between William Thompson and Hannah, his wife, parties of the first part, and William Blunt of Sussex County, for 150 pounds, conveying 750 acres on both sides of Avents Creek, adjoining Indian Brance, land of Winfield, and Beachlick Creek. Signed by William Thompson and Hannah Thompson (her mark). No witnesses. Indenture was acknowledged in Court by William Thompson and Hannah Thompson, and Hannah Thompson was privately examined and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 11.

Indenture made the 28th day of September, 1761, between Nathan Harris and Catharine, his wife, and Walton Harris, son of the said Nathan, for natural love and affection which they have to their son and for 5 shillings, conveying 200 acres on North side of Rattlesnake Creek as low as the Branch known by the name of Tumber Tree Branch and being the upper moity (sic) of 369 acres, part of a tract granted to George Wallton by patent and conveyed by the said George Wallton to Nathan Harris and wife. No witnesses. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on September 28, 1761, by Nathan Harris and Catharine Harris, and Catharine Harris relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 13.

George Wallton for natural love and affection I have and bear unto Mary Ledbetter, my daughter, conveying 251 acres, being the lower moiety of an inclusive patent for 1,526 acres (738 acres of same being granted to George Wallton by patent dated March 12, 1739), said 1,526 acres being patent dated February 14, 1761, and it being divided from the other moiety now in the possession of Nathan Harris, dated the 28th day of September, 1761. No witnesses. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on September 18, 1761, by George Wallton. Deed Book 7, Page 14.

George Wallton for natural love and affection I have and bear unto Nathan Harris (my daughter, Catharine's, Husband), conveying 537 acres, it being the upper moiety of an inclusive patent for 1,526 acres (738 acres of same being granted to George Wallton by patent dated March 12, 1739), said 1,526 acres being patent dated February 14, 1761, dated the 28th day of September, 1761. No witnesses. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on September 18, 1761, by George Wallton. Deed Book 7, Page 15.

Indenture made the 9th day of September, 1761, between Richard Vaughan, the Younger, and John Westmoreland, for 32 pounds, conveying 63 acres and 3 quarters, on South side of Wagua Creek and on both sides of Beaverpond Branch, and being part of a larger tract of 250 acres formerly granted to Richard Vaughan, the elder, by Letters Patent and was by a clause in the Last Will and Testament of the said Richard Vaughan bequeathed the 250 acres to his two grandsons, Richard Vaughan and Abraham Vaughan, to be equally divided between them and that the division be made across the Beaver Pond Branch, the half of which division on the North side of the said Branch is hereby gargained and sold on the North side of the same. Signed by Richard Vaughan (his mark). Witnesses were Thomas Butler and M. Cadet Young. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on September 28,1761, by Richard Vaughan. Deed Book 7, Page 16.

Indenture made the 24th day of September, 1761, between Peter Jones and Dionisia, his wife, parties of the first part, and Banjamin Jones of Dinwiddie County, for 30 pounds, conveying 168 acres on North side of Hickory Run, adjoining land of Richard Berry and Miller. No witnesses. Indenture acknowledged in Court on September 28, 1761, by Peter Jones. Deed Book 7, Page 18.

Indenture made the 28th day of September, 1761, between John Willis, Gent., and Mildred, his wife, parties of the first part, and Walter Peter, Merchant, for 150 pounds, conveying 300 acres on North side of the Three Creeks, bounded on the East by lands of Col. Nathaniel Edwards, on the South and on the West by Samuel Lucas, and on the North by the Three Creeks. Indenture and receipt were acknowledged in Court on September 28, 1761, by John Willis. Deed Book 7, Page 19.

Indenture made the 26th day of October, 1761, between Peter Avent and Amy, his wife, parties of the first part, and Richard Blanks, for 120 pounds, conveying 250 acres on West side of the Otterdam Swamp, and adjoining the mouth of the Lick Branch and land of Col. John Willis and Daniel Mabry, and being part of a tract devised to the said Peter Avant by his father by his Last Will and Testament in Sussex County. No witnesses. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on October 26, 1761 by Peter Avent and Amy Avent, and Amy Avent relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 22.

Indenture made the 26th day October, 1761, between Richard Blanks and James Harrison, for 50 pounds, conveying 130 acres, adjoining lands of William Allen, William Eaton, and Davis, and being the upper part of a tract formerly belonging to Thomas Carroll, dec'd. and was assigned over by the said Carrolls Exors. unto the said Richard Blanks. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court by Richard Blanks and at Court in April, 1763, Winefred, the wife of the said Richard Blanks personally appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 23.

Indenture made the 16th day of October, 1761, between George Rieves and Drury Cook, for 150 pounds, conveying 310 acres and being the same tract granted to Henry Cook by Patent dated October 31, 1726, and a 190 acres which adjoins the 310 acre tract and being part of the land granted to Henry Cook by Patent for 1,760 acres on August 20, 1748, adjoining Rooty Branch, the lands of John Cook and George Wyche, and the Great Swamp. Witnesses were Zebulon Lewis, Robert Peebles, John Cook, and James Lanier. Indenture was acknowledged in court on October 26, 1761, by George Rieves and Sarah, his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 25.

Indenture made the 26th day of October, 1761, between William Scoggan and George Scoggan, for 35 pounds, conveying 150 acres on North side of the Ready Branch, adjoining land of Samuel Craft and Matthew Evans. Witnesses were Daniel jackson, Thomas Jackson, and John Cook. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on October 26, 1761, by William Scoggan and Elizabeth, his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 26.

Indenture made the 24th day of October, 1761, between Isham Luicy and John Gordon, for 50 pounds, conveying 200 acres adjoining lands of John Burrows and William Bowders. Signed by Isham Luicy (his mark). Witnesses were Robert Gee, Robert Gee, Jr., and Sawpeald Brewer. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on October 26, 1761, by Isham Sucry. Deed Book 7, Page 27.

Indenture made the 26th day of October, 1761, between John Jackson and Peter Adams, for 70 pounds, conveying 150 acres on South side of Little Creek, adjoining lands of Ralp (sic) Jackson, Benjamin Simmons, and William Vaughan, and White Face Branch, and being part of a 510 acre tract formerly granted to Ambros Jackson by Patent dated July 11, 1719. Signed by John Jackson (his mark) and Elizabeth Jackson (her mark). No witnesses. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on October 26, 1761, by John Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson, and Elizabeth Jackson relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 29.

Indenture made the 21st day of April, 1760 between Joseph Procter and John Dugges, for 50 pounds, conveying 307 acres on both side of the Gravely Run, adjoining land of Abraham Brown, and being same land granted to Joseph Proctor by Letters Patent dated August 10, 1759. Signed by Joseph Procter (his mark). Witnesses were Henry Edmunds, Ben. Chapman, Lewis Charles, and R. Campbell. Indenture was proved in Court on June 24, 1760, by the oaths of Henry Edmunds and Robert Campbell and on October 26, 1761, full proved by the oath of Benjamin Chapman. Deed Book 7, Page 30.

Indenture made the 20th day of November, 1761, between Thomas Lyall and Hanah, his wife, parties of the first part, and Melinton Sims, for 200 pounds paid by the said Millington Sims, conveying 235 acres on Brandy Creek, and adjoining Mr. Harrison, and being the same land granted to John Betts, Clerk, by Letters Patent dated June 19, 1735, and 35 in the ninth year of the reign of King George, II. Signed by Thomas Lyall and Hanah Lyall (her mark). Indenture, Receipt, and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court by Thomas Lyall and Hanah Lyall, and Hanah Lyall relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 32.

Indenture made the 14th day of November, 1761, between Drury Ledbetter of Dinwiddie County and Vines Collier of Brunswick County. Conveying 300 acres on lower side of Great Genito Creek. Deed Book 7, Page 33.

Indenture made the 20th day of November, 1761, between Thomas Moseley and Mary, his wife, parties of the first part, and Benjamin Moseley, for 100 pounds, conveying 200 acres, adjoining land of Jones. Indenture acknowledged in Court on Novmeber 23, 1761, by Thomas Moseley. Deed Book 7, Page 35.

Indenture made the 23rd day of November, 1761, between Edward Goodrich and Anne, his wife, parties of the first part and Joseph Prince of Sussex County, for 130 pounds, conveying 258 acres on North side of the Three Creeks, adjoining land of John Whittington, John Butts, John Rivers, John Olliver, and John Denton. Witnesses by Richd. Jones. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on November 23, 1761, by Edward Goodrich, and at Court in April, 1762, Anne Goodrich, his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 36.

Indenture made the 23rd day of November, 1761, between William Brewer and Mary, his wife, parties of the first part, and James Harris, for 27 pounds, conveying 200 acres on South side of Bever Pond Creek, adjoining land of Charles Collier, the Great Branch, and land of Richard Woodrough, and being part of a 400 acres patent for George Brewer dated August 7, 1761. Signed by William Brewer (his mark) and Mary Brewer (her mark). Indenture acknowledged in Court on November 23, 1761, by William Brewer and Mary Brewer, and Mary, his wife, relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 37.

Indenture made the 16th day of October, 1761, between William Rieves of Dinwiddie County, and Jesse Potts of Dinwiddie County, for 20 pounds, conveying 100 acres on both sides of the Cross Roads where the Flat Rock Road crosses the right hand fork of the road above Captain Robert Briggs, and joining lands of Capt. Robert Briggs. Witnesses were Daniel Jackson, Thomas Flewelling, and William Raney. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on November 23, 1761, by William Rieves. Deed Book 7, Page 39.

Indenture made the 18th day of November, 1761, between Robert Harrison and Elizabeth, his wife, of Dinwiddie County, and George Clarke of Brunswick County. Conveying 1,888 acres located on both sides of Great Creek. Deed Book 7, Page 40.

John Pilkinton for 75 pounds conveying to Richard Pilkinton, six Negroes of the Estate of William Pilkinton of the County of Isle of Wight, deceased, three of which Negroes are now in the possession of William Hodsden; two in the possession of Richd. White and the others in the possession of John Barlow, made the 23rd day of November, 1761. Witnesses were John Collier (his mark), W. Chapman, and Robert Campbell. Bon was acknowledged in Court on November 23, 1761, by John Pilkinton. Deed Book 7, Page 42.

Indenture made the 23rd day of November, 1761, between Simon Clarke and Henry Wyche, for 60 pounds, conveying 260 acres on South side of Fountains Creek. Witnesses were Littleberry Robinson and William Ezell, Jr. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on November 23, 1761, by Simon Clarke. Deed Book 7, Page 43.

Indenture made the 23rd day of November, 1761, between William Lanier and Matthew Parham, Jr., of Sussex County, for 100 pounds, conveying 235 acres on both sides of Shining Creek, adjoining Alexander Pool, William Maclin, John Hunington, Edward Denton, and John Clack. Witnesses were William Browne, Thomas Jackson, and J. Parham. Indenture acknowledged in Court on November 24, 1761, by William Lanier. Deed Book 7, Page 44.

Indenture made the 1st day of January, 1762, between William Swanson and Celah, his wife, now of Dinwiddie County, parties of the first part, and John Lambert, for 25 pounds, conveying 116 acres, on South side of Red Oak Creek, adjoining lands of Marshal and John Lambert, and being part of a 316 acre tract which was patented to Samuel Center. Witnesses were John Quarles, James Quarles, and James Lambert. Signed by Philip Swanson and Celah Swanson (her mark). Indenture and Receipt were acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by Philip Swanson and Celah, his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 46.

Indenture made the 7th day of November, 1761, between John Pilkinton and Thomas Cadet Young, for 20 pounds, conveying 125 acres on North side of Teague Creek, adjoining land of Harrison, and being part of a larger tract formerly granted unto John Humphries by Letters Patent dated June 5, 1736, and by the Last Will and Testament of the said John Humphries, deceased, bequeathed unto his son, Charles Humphries, and by the said Charles Humphries conveyed by deed to the said John Pilkinton. Witnesses were Nichol. Edmunds, John Dugger, and James Dugger. Indenture acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by John Pilkinton and Sarah, his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 47.

Indenture made the 25th day of January, 1762, between James Clarke of Northampton County, North Carolina, and William Buford, for 31 pounds, conveying 200 acres on North side of Fountain Creek and adjoining the Mouth of the Purcosin Gut, the Mouth of the Bever Pond Branch, land of Sledger, the Gum Branch, lands of Jesse Browne and Fox, and Cain Branch. Signed by James Clarke and Mary Clarke (her mark). Witnesses were Henry Wyche, Joshua Clarke, and Simon Clarke. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by James Clarke and Mary Clarke, and Mary relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 49.

Indenture made the 25th day of January, 1762, between James Clarke of Northampton County, North Carolina, and Simon Clarke, for 56 pounds, 10 shillings, conveying 200 acres on North side of Fountains Creek and adjoining Mouth of the Pocosen Gut, lands of John Scott, Judkin, and Sledge, and the mouth of Bever Pond Branch. Signed by James Clark and Mary Clark (her mark). Witnesses were Henry Wyche, Joshua Clark, Wm. Buford. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by James Clarke and Mary Clarke, and Mary relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 50.

Indenture made the 8th day of January, 1762, between Alexander Pool and Susannah, his wife, parties of the first part, and Matthew Parham, Jr., of Sussex County, for 130 pounds, conveying 100 acres at the upper end of Shining Creek, and bounded by lands of william Maclin, John Clacks, and Alexander Pool (bought of William Lanier). Signed by Alexander Pool and Susannah Pool (her mark). Witnesses were James Maclin, Thomas Lanier, and John Peebels. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by Alexander Pool and Susannah Pool, and Susanna relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 52.

Indenture made the 25th day of January, 1762, between Howell Whittington and James Harrison, for 14 pounds, 15 shillings, conveying 150 acres on the West side of Hicks Branch and being the upper part of a tract containing 335 acres which was formerly granted to Joseph Reen of the County of Prince George by Letters of Patent dated September 28, 1730, and was conveyed by the said Joseph Reen to William Whittington of Brunswick County, father of the said Howell Whittington by deed dated February 1, 1747, and was by the said William Whittington devised unto the aforesaid Howell Whittington by his Last Will and Testament. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture was acknowledged in Court on January 25, 1762, by Howell Whittington. [335 acres, new land, in Surry County, on South side of Nottoway River and on West side of Hicks Branch, adjoining John Holloway, was granted to Joseph Renn of Prince George County, on September 28, 1730, for 35 shillings, Land Patent Book No. 14, Page 119.] Deed Book 7, Page 53.

Indenture made the 22nd day of February, 1762, between Edward Crews and Hartwell Mirable of Albemarle Parish, County of Sussex, for 150 pounds, conveying all that plantation tract or parcell (sic) of land whereon the said Edward Crews now lives, joining the lands of Thomas Washington, and on the South side of Pihill Creek, containing 232 acres, and being the same land granted by Patent to the said Edward Crews. Witnesses were D. Fisher, Merriott Moore G., and Wm. Edwards. Indenture was acknowledged in Court by Edward Crews, and [---] (name not given), his wife, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 55.

Indenture made the 20th day of February, 1762, between Abraham Jones of Halifax County, Province of North Carolina, and William Mosely, for 21 pounds, conveying 525 acres adjoining lands of Thomas Mosely, and Pehill Creek and Lizard Creek. Witnesses were Isaac Mosely, Thomas Mosely, and Benja. Mosely. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Deed Book 7, Page 56.

Indenture made the 20th day of February, 1762, between Abraham Jones of Halifax County, Province of North Carolina, and Benjamin Mosely, for 12 pounds, conveying 335 acres adjoining lands of Benjamin Mosely, and James Upchurch, and Middle Run. Witnesses were Isaac Mosely, Thomas Mosely, and James Upchurch (his mark). Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Deed Book 7, Page 57.

Indenture made the 20th day of February, 1762, between Abraham Jones of Halifax County, Province of North Carolina, and Thomas Mosely, for 8 pounds, conveying 186 acres adjoining Middle Run and Lizard Creek. Witnesses were Benjamin Mosely, Isaac Mosely, and James Upchurch (his mark). Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. [*Original name of Thomas Mosely struck through and name of Benjamin Mosely written over in darker ink, all other references in deed and regarding poving of Indenture are to Thomas Mosely.] Deed Book 7, Page 59.

Indenture made the 20th day of February, 1762, between Abraham Jones of Halifax County, Province of North Carolina, and James Upchurch, for 10 pounds, conveying 200 acres adjoining lands of Benjamin Mosely, Thomas Bracey, and Richard Burnet. Witnesses were Benja. Mosely, Thomas Mosely, and Isaac Mosely. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Indenture made the 20th day of February, 1762, between Abraham Jones of Halifax County, Province of North Carolina, and Lewis Barker, for 8 pounds, conveying 186 acres adjoining lands of John Barker. Witnesses were Benja. Mosely, Thomas Mosely, and Isaac Mosely. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Indenture made the 29th day of August, 1761, between John Melton and Henry Bailey, for 7 pounds, 10 shillings, and 6 pence, conveying 100 acres on South side of Nottoway River, adjoining lands of Collier. Signed by John Melton (his mark). Witnesses were Thomas Harris, Thomas Renn (his mark), and John Davis (his mark). Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknoledged in Court on February 22, 1762, by John Melton. Deed Book 7, Page 63.

Indenture made the 8th day of January, 1762, between Sion Hill of Southampton County, and William Thweat, for 80 pounds, conveying 128 acres on South side of Meherrin River, adjoining lands of Captain John Mafon and Urvin Brown. Witnesses were James Lunday, Urvin Brown, Abijah Bidlum, Jeremiah Bass (his mark), and James Birchett. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of James Birchett, James Lundy and Jeremiah Bass. Deed Book 7, Page 65.

Indenture made the 22nd day of February, 1762, between Benjamin Wheeler, Planter, and Betty, his wife, parties of the first part, and William Lanier, Planter, for 15 pounds, conveying 150 acres, lying in St/ Andres Parrish, adjoining lands of Sackfield Brewer, Nicholas Lanier, and William Browder. Signed by Benjamin Whealer and Betty Whealer (her mark). Indenture and Receipt were acknowledged in Court on February 22, 1762, by Benjamin Whealer and Betty, his wife, and Betty Whealer was privately examined and relinquished her right of dower. Indenture made the 4th day of February, 1762, between Frederick Jones of Prince George County, and Parsons Bradley of Chesterfiled County, for 300 pounds paid to Frederick Jones and Betty, his wife, conveying 813 acres on both side of Cockes Creek and bounded on the Country line of North Carolina and the County line of Lunenburg, being part of a tract of land purchased of Roger Tillman as will appear by a patent granted to the said Frederick Jones bearing date of July 4, 1759, 413 acres part of the said 813 acres is the land sold to Parsons Bradley which said land lies in the County of Brunswick and bounded as aforesaid by the County line of Lunenburg and the Country line of North Carolina and lies on both sides of Cocks Creek and is the plantation where George Tillman formerly lived. Witnesses were William Thornton, John Clack, and Lewis Parham. Indenture proved in Court on February 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Deed Book 7, Page 68.

Indenture made the 22nd day of February, 1762, between Thomas Powell and Sarah, his wife, parties of the first part, and Henry Chambless of Prince George County, for 130 pounds, conveying 340 acres on North side of Beddingfields Creek and adjoining lands of Crews, and Beddingfield, and adjoining Crews Path and Brewers Ford on the Beddingfields Creek. Signed by Thomas Powell (his mark) and Sarah Powell (her mark). Witnesses were John Chambliss, Henry Chambliss and James Brewer. Witnesses were Robert Gwaltney, Thomas Parham, William Johnson and Voluntine White (his mark). Indenture and Receipt were acknowledged in Court on March 22, 1762, by Henry Johnson. Indenture made the 22nd day of March, 1762, between Richard Burnett and Robert Walker, for 150 pounds, conveying 150 acres on both sides of Poplar Creek, adjoining land of Hugh Daniel and Whiffles Bottom, and being part of a tract of 398 acres formerly granted to Hugh Daniels by patent and conveyed to the said Richard Burnett by deed dated November 1, 1744. Indenture made the 20th day of March, 1762, between John George Pennington and                 Marshall [first name is never given], for 4 pounds paid by the said Marshall, conveying 15 acres on the Main Road, adjoining land of William Pennington, the County line and being the same land granted to the said Pennington by Letters of Patent dated October 1, 1747. Witnesses were Samuel Marshall, Sr. (his mark), George Malone, and William Dailey (his mark). Indenture was proved in Court on March 22, 1762, by the oaths of the three witnesses. Indenture made the 22nd day of March, 1762, between Edward Roberson and Anne, his wife, parties of the first part, and Joseph Peoples. for 60 pounds, conveying 297 acres, adjoining land of Ralph Jackson, which was conveyed to William Roynolds by Letters of Patent dated September 28, 1728, and thence conveyed by William Roynolds to Ralph Jackson and then conveyed by his Last Will and Testament to the said Edward Roberson. Signed by Edward Roberson (his mark) and Anne Roberson. Witness was Lemuel Lanier. Indenture made the 12th day of January, 1760, between John Dobyns, Senr., and Richard Ramsey, for 4 pounds, conveying 100 acres, beginning in the upper fork of Red Oak, adjoining land of Crawly. Indenture made the 18th day of March, 1762, between Voluntine White and Thomas Parham, for 12 pounds, conveying 150 acres, adjoining land of Wall, the Head of the Pidgeon Roost, and being part of a tract granted to Voluntine White on August 10, 1759. Indenture made the 25th day of February, 1762, between Robert Cheek or Chick and Anne, his wife, parties of the first part, and Hubbard Quarles, for 85 pounds, conveying 150 acres on South side of Nottoway River, beginning at the mouth of Rocky Run, adjoining land of Davis. Witnesses were Hugh Williams, Richard Caudle, and James Quarles. Indenture and Receipt were acknowledged in Court on March 22, 1762, by Richard Cheek or Check, and Anne, his wife, relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 7, Page 82.

Indenture made the 9th day of March, 1762, between Sampson Caudle, Planter, and Sarah, his wife, parties of the first part, and William Dowsing, for 60 pounds, conveying 96 acres on the lower side of Rocky Run, beginning at Davises Patent line at Rocky Run thence down Davises line to the dividing line between the said Sampson Cordil and John, his son, thence along the dividing line to Drapers line, thence along Drapers line and Quarles, being the line formerly made between the said Swanson Cordil and Stephen Cordil to Rocky Run thence down the said run as it meanders to the beginning. Bond of Sampson Cordil and Richard Cordil unto William Dowsing, for 500 pounds, on condition of the relinquishement of the right of dower of Sarah Cordill to the 96 acre tract. Indenture made the 26th day of September, 1761, between Charles Turnbull of Dinwiddie County, Merchant, and Archibald Robertson of Prince George County, Merchant, for 5 shillings, conveying an undivided half part of 280 acres, on South side of Meherrin River, which land was sold and conveyed by William Beaty to George Brewer and Benjamin Ivie and by them sold and conveyed to Thomas Twitty and Robert Campbell and by them sold and conveyed unto John Maclin and by him and his wife, Susan Maclin, sold and conveyed unto the said Charles Turnbull. Witnesses were Allan Love, Freeman Walker, and Starky Robinson. Indenture was proved in Court on September 28, 1761, by the oaths of Allan Love and Freeman Walker, and at Court held on the 22nd day of March, 1762, the same was further proved by the oath of Starky Robinson. To William Edloe, George Minge, Phil Par Edmondson, Gentlemen, whereas Mordecai Debnam of Charles City County, and Anne, his wife, by Indenture dated the 25th day of September, 1760, sold and conveyed unto Buchner Stith, a tract of land on the South side of Sturgeon Creek containing 114 acres and whereas Anne cannot conveniently travel to our Court to relinquish her right of dower, commission to receive her relinquishment of her right of dower given to the three above named individuals on the 6th day of November. Deed Book 7, Page 87.

Commission and Certificate of William Edloe and George Minge as to relinquishment of dower of Anne Debnam, dated the 6th day of January, 1762, was returned to Court on March 22, 1762, and ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 7, Page 88.

Indenture made the 24th day of March, 1762, between Benjamin Sykes and John Parham, for 130 pounds, conveying     acres [amount not given], on South side of meherrin River adjoining Dutchmans Meadow, and adjoining land of John Peterson, and being the same land purchased by Richard Sykes, father of the said Benjamin and by the death of the said Richard, descended and came to the said Benjamin. Witnesses were Urvin Brown, William Parham, Henry Williams (his mark), and James Parham. Simon Lunday and Daniel Lunday for 199 pounds, 1 shilling, paid by Benjamin Rieves, conveying 180 acres on South side of Meherrin River, dated the 16th day of April, 1762. Witnesses were John Peterson, James Parham, Exum Williamson, John Parham, William Parham, Foster Rieves (his mark), and Edward Lunday (his mark). Indenture made the 26th day of April, 1762, between Nathaniel Edwards and Joel Woodrough, for 30 pounds, conveying 471 acres on North side of Bever Pond Creek, adjoining land of William Smilly. Indenture made the 26th day of April, 1762, between Henry Hatch of Dinwiddie County, and William Chapman, for 40 pounds, conveying 404 acres, and being the same land granted to the said Henry Hatch by Letters of Patent dated June 7, 1759. Joseph King and William Thornton are held and firmly bound unto Burwell Green and Benjamin Hunt of Sussex County, in the sum of 500 pounds, that whereas the above Burwell Green and Benjamin Hunt became bound unto William Lightfoot, first Justice of the Commission of the Peace of the County of Sussex, for the due execution of the Last Will and Testament of Mary Randolph, deceased, to make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattel and credits of the said deceased which should come into the hands of Joseph King to fulfill his bond, dated the 22nd day of June, 1756. Indenture made the 22nd day of April, 1762, between Jacob Woolsey and John Moore, for 50 pounds, conveying 270 acres on both sides of the Great Creek, and adjoining Lick Branch, and being part of a tract granted to Frances Ellidge by Patent dated July 25, 1741. Witnesses were Benjamin Mosely, Samuel Wright, and Isaac Marshall. Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were acknowledged in Court on April 26, 1762, by Jacob Woolsey and Ellie, the wife of the said Jacob Woolsey, appeared and relinquished her right of dower. Indenture made the 27th day of April, 1762, between Thomas Powell and Sarah, his wife, parties of the first part, and Charles Powell, for 5 pounds, conveying 260 acres on Rattlesnake Creek, and adjoining land of William Brewer, Nathan Harris, and Beddingfields Creek and Brewers Path, and being the lower part of a 600 acre tract granted to the said Thomas Powell by Letters of Patent dated August 16, 1756. Indenture made the 22nd day of April, 1762, between William Marshall and Samuel Marshall, for 5 shillings paid by Will Marshall by virtue of a bargain and sale to him thereof made by the said Samuel Marshall by Indenture bearing date the day before the date of thses presents, conveying 100 acres, being part of a tract of about 200 acres taken up by Samuel Dispain and by him conveyed to the said Samuel marshall and beginning at a beach on meherrin River being a line tree of John Ingrams and adjoining land of Drury Robertson. Indenture made the 24th day of October, 1763, between John Myrick of Southampton County, and Anne, his wife, parties of the first part, and William Walker of Dinwiddie County, for 500 pounds paid by Robert Walker, trustee for the said William Walker, conveying 684 acres on Wagua Creek, 204 acres thereof being formerly granted to John Simmons, Junr., by Patent dated July 7, 1726 and the residue granted to the said John Myrick by Patent dated July 13, 1742, including the said 204 acres. Names of witnesses not given. Indenture made the 25th day of June, 1763, between Thomas Jackson, Junr., Merchant, and Miles Cary of Southampton County, Attorney at Law, for 126 pounds, 7 shillings, and 9 pence, conveying 200 acres, provided that if he shall repay to Miles Cary by October 25, next, indenture to be void. Witnesses were Richd. Kells, Wood Tucker, Burwell Lanier, and Elias Morgin. Indenture of Mortgage and Receipt were proved by the oaths of the witnesses in Court on August 22, 1763. Robert Donald of Hanover County, Merchant, indebted to Theophilus Field of Prince George County, Merchant, for 43 pounds, that whereas Robert Donald by virtue of a power given him by James Donald of North Britain, Merchant, agreed to sell to Theophilus Field of a lot containing half an acre in the Town of Petersburg in Dinwiddie County, and numbered in the plan of the said Town #33, and have received the sum of 21 pounds, 10 shillings, Robert Donald shall cause and procure James Donald to convey to Theophilus Field the lot and half acre within 18 months, then obligation to be void. Bond not dated. Witnesses were Ninian Boog, Robert Miller, Willm. Hodsden, and Robert Jones, Jr. Bond was proved in Court on November 22, 1762, by the oath of Robert Jones, Junr., a witness thereto and the said Jones further deposed and saith that he saw Ninion Boog, Robert Miller, and William Hodsden, who are since deceased subscribe their names as witnesses to the said Bond and it is ordered to be recorded.

Indenture made the 8th day of March, 1764, between William Simmons of Nottoway Parish, Southampton County, and Thomas Williamson, for 500 pounds, conveying 680 acres, on South side of the Great Creek, beginning at a whitewood at the Creek at a corner tree of Col. Henry Harrison's, and adjoining land of Richard Lewis, and according to a Patent granted to John Simmons, Jr., of Surry County, dated October 13, 1727. Witnesses were R. Kello, D. Indenture made the 15th day of May, 1762, between Sarah Johnson and Robert Jones, Junr., both of North Carolina, Executrix and Executor of the Last Will and Testament of John Thornton, late of the said Province of North Carolina, deceased, and Benjamin Blick, that whereas John Thornton was siezed of 481 acres on Ready Creek, adjoining land of Smith, Chares Edward, and John Edwards, . . . and being so seized did make his Last Will and Testament bearing date of November 10, 1754, and did give and devise the said land to be sold for payments of his debts, said Will duly proved in the County Court of Granville, North Carolina, for 150 pounds, conveying 481 acres. Indenture made the 25th dayof January, 1762, between Theophilus Field of Prince George County, and John Sims, for 200 pounds, conveying 275 acres on North side of the Little Creek, adjoining land of Ralph Jackson, and purchased of Thomas Jones and Anne, his wife, by two deeds, the first dated the 3rd day of March, 1748, and the other dated the 6th day of October, 1748. Witnesses were Gray Briggs, John Thornton, Theophilus Field, Junr., and James Walker. Indenture made the 25th day of June, 1762, between George Carter and John Marhsall, for 10 shillings, conveying 20 acres, a being a tract formerly belonging to Samuel Dispain, and beginning at a white oak at the mouth of a deep bottom on Meherrin River, thence up the said Bottom a new line which was between William Petty and Samuel Dispain, and being the same land granted to George Carter by Letters of Patent dated August 20, 1760. Samuel Russill, Soldier, late of the County of Brunswick, unto William Browne of Prince George County, for 10 pounds, 15 shillings, conveying peaceful enjoyment of all real and personal estate, dated the 2nd day of June, 1762. Witnesses were Lewis Parham, Henry Bussie, John Curton, John Edwards, and Robert Wray. Bill of Sale was proved in Court on June 28, 1762, by the oaths of Lewis Parham, Henry Bussie, and John Edwards. Isham Daniel for 50 pounds, conveying unto John Jones, 100 acres, 4 head of cattle, 2 beds and furniture, and if the said Isham Daniel shall pay unto the said John Jones, the sum of 50 pounds, on or before the 25th dayof December, next, conveyance shall be void, dated the 9th day of February, 1762. Indenture made the 28th day of June, 1762, between Isaac Row Wallton and John Hathcocke, that whereas Isaac Row Wallton and Elizabeth, his wife, received 12 pounds and 10 shillings, from John Hathcocke, conveying 250 acres, it being the same land granted by patent to Isaac Row Wallton, and adjoining land of John Wall on the Fort Road, and land of Sexton and George Wallton. Indenture made the 26th day of June, 1762, between Daniel Carroll and James Harwell, for 50 pounds, conveying 400 acres on both sides of the Little Creek and by Patent granted to the said Daniel Carroll on May 12, 1759, and adjoining land of Hugh Daniel. Articles of Agreement made the 25th day of December, 1762, between Drury Stith, Gent., and Elizabeth Eldridge, that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be had and solemized between the said Drury Stith and Elizabeth Eldridge, agreed that Elizabeth shall continue and remain seized of possessed of her whole estate, real and personal, subject to payment of such debts as she shall happen to owe and she may dispose of the same in her own name and without the contract of the said Drury Stith, either by deed or by her Last Will and Testament. If she shall survive Drury Stith, she shall be entitled to one-third (1/3) of the estate of Drury Stith for her dower. If she shall not make any sidposition of her estate during her lifetime and if she should die before Drury Stith that Drury Stith shall deliver up the possession of all lands of the said Elizabeth to her son, Howell Eldridge upon his paying to his sister, Sarah Eldridge, daughter of the said Elizabeth, the sum of 100 pounds and shall account with the said Sarah and deliver up to her, all other the estate which Elizabeth shall die possessed. Elizabeth Eldridge relinquished and disclaimed all right and title to a third part of the said Drury Stith estate and to take only a childs part or whatsoever the said Drury Stith shall think proper to leave her at his death. Witnesses were John Willis, Edmunds Jones, and Elizabeth Wager. Articles of Agreement were proved in Court on March 28, 1763, by oath of John Willis and Elizabeth Wager, and at Court on August 24, 1763, further proved by the oath of Edmunds Jones. Indenture made the 23rd day of January, 1764, between William Harrison and Elizabeth, his wife, of Brunswick County and Joseph Dameron of Sussex County. Conveying 300 acres lying on north side of Three Creeks. Page 424.

Indenture made the 11th day of November, 1763, between William Buford of Onslow County, North Carolina, and John Buford, for 5 shillings, conveying 171 acres on the Gum Branch. Witnesses were John jeter, Daniel Sledge, and George Anderson (his mark). Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on January 23, 1764, by the oaths of the witnesses. Page 426.

Indenture made the 26th day of March, 1764, between John Nipper, Senior, of Brunswick County, Virginia, and John Berner [also spelled Barner] of Brunswick County, Virginia. Conveyance of 140 acre tract of land on Cocks Creek. Page 447.

Indenture made the 28th day of May, 1764, between Robert Hicks and Mary, his wife, parties of the first part, and James Parham, for 100 pounds, conveying 50 acres on Miry Branch, White Oak on Parhams Branch. Signed by Robert Hicks and Mary Hicks (her mark). Witnesses were Lewis Lanier, Zachariah Sims, and Lewis Parham. Page 464.

Indenture made the 11th day of June, 1764, between Robert Hicks and Stephen Hicks, son of the said Robert, for love and affection, conveying 263 acres, after the death of the said Robert Hicks and Mary, his wife, and being the tract of land where Robert Hicks now lives on Reedy Creek, Meherrin Branch, Mire Branch, to mouth of Parhams Branch. Witnesses were John Clack, Littleberry Stainback, and William Hall or Wall. Indenture acknowledged in Court in June, 1764, by Robert Hicks. Deed Book 7, Page 479.

Indenture dated the 27th day of August, 1764, between Charles Collier of Brunswick County and Burwell Grigg of Dinwiddie County, for 130 pounds for conveyance of 304 acre tract of land. Beginning at Harrison's line on Sandefors Branch thence along Harrison's line East 190 poles to Red Oak on the branch, thence up said branch as it meanders to a pine on the same, thence South 21 degrees West 142 poles, to a pine thence South 69 degrees 86 poles to a pine thence North 44 degrees West 66 poles to Sandefors line thence along his line North 20 degrees East 52 poles to his corner Hickory thence North 30 degrees West 100 poles to his corner pine thence North 71 degrees West 24 poles to Sandefors Branch aforesaid thence down the meanders of the said branch to the Beginning one hundred and forty four acres part thereof was formerly granted unto William Smith by letter patent dated February 2, 1742. Deed Book 7, Page 525.
