but with one marker. ***(#51) It has been passed down that Berta was buried with a child in her
arms. It is believed that she died a few days after the birth of
her child, and they were buried together. There are many graves marked with a stone marker with no names. It is
believed that the following were buried in the cemetery since they appeared to
live on the farm based on census and tax records. Richard Rutledge Lucretia Rutledge David Rutledge & Synthia (Hundley) Rutledge and children: Park Rutledge &
wife Ellen (Chism) Rutledge, John Hundley Rutledge, Abner D. Rutledge & wife
Ann (Ferrell) Rutledge, and Synthia Rutledge Newcomb and husband Joseph Newcomb.

It has been passed down that Park and Synthia Newcomb were buried under the tree
that stood in the center of the cemetery till the 1970’s. It has been found that most buried in the cemetery are directly related to the David Rutledge
family lines. RETURN TO THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY VAGENWEB HOME PAGE
