JULY 21, 1835

Chesterfield Co., Court

Inquisition indented, taken at Henry HOWARD'S house in the county of Chesterfield aforesaid the 21st day of July 1835, before me George W. COLE one of the Coroners of the Commonwealth for the county aforesaid upon the oaths of sundry witnesses, and upon a full and free investigation of the whole matter in relation to the death of Malinda HOWARD late of the said county, and upon the oaths of Silas CHEATHAM foreman, Elijah BRUMMAL, Mark F. FLOURNOY, Abner W. TRABUE, Jamison MOODY, James McFAYRE, Thomas M. BURFOOT, Macon TRABUE, Francis WATKINS, David STANFORD, Littleberry TAYLOR and Thomas TAYLOR good and lawful men of the county aforesaid, who being sworn and charged on the part of the Commonwealth, to inquire when, where, how and after what manner the aforesaid Malinda HOWARD came to her death, do say upon their oaths, that upon an full and fair examination of sundry witnesses, and upon examination of the facts ______________________they deem it entirely unnecessary to examine the body of the deceased (it having been buried on sunday evening last) and are confidently of opinion and do say so, upon their oaths that the said Malinda HOWARD died on the 18th day of July 1835 by the visitation of God in a natural way and not otherwise. In witness whereof the aforesaid Jurors, and also the Coroner aforesaid have hereunto set their hand and seals the day and year before written.

In Chesterfield county court August 10th 1835 . The foregoing inquisition taken on the dead body of Malinda HOWARD, was presented in court and ordered to be recorded.

Malinda PEMBERTON (dau. of John PEMBERTON of Powhatan co., married Henry HOWARD (son of James HOWARD and Ann "Nancy" Depp) . Apparantly no issue.
