ASKEW/ ASQUE/ ASCUE/ ASKUE/ ESKEW/ ESCUE/ ESQUE
Researching Askew of St. Martins Parish, Hanover co. John Askew was noted in Hanover Co. as early as 1782 and as late as 1814. John is noted in St. Martins up to 1814 and by 1815 is noted as "John Askew est" in property tax record and by 1816 it is noted as Ann Askew. Also noted in St. Martins is a Robert Askew. I suspect that Ann is John's widow and she was b in 1775 according to 1850 census. Have searched for Askew Estate in Hanover to no avail! Ann remains in Hanover Co. until 1820. By 1826 she removed with her family to Rockbridge Co. where what I suspect to be her sons Joseph b 1805 m Sally Shields (Camden), Anthony (b ? m in 1826 so I suspect between Joe and Jon) m Mary Holmes and Jonathan b 1810 m Amanda Camden. I cannot find any Askew in Probate records for Hanover Co. Is anyone a part of the Askew family of St. Martin Parish, Hanover Co. early 1800? I also suspect that Robert above is either John brother or son! ELVY12345@aol.comKaryn Cooper 11/6/98

DICKENSON / MEADE / MINOR
I am trying to learn the parents, siblings, and children of John Meade of Hanover Co., who is listed as deceased in church records there when his Hanover County land was last processioned in 1771. In the Vestry Book of St. Paqul's Parish, Hanover County, John Meade is listed as a land processioner as early as 1755 through 1771 when he is noted as deceased. He is probably related to Minor Meade, William Meade, and Thomas Meade, who were also in Hanover County between 1750-1789. These men's children were later in Louisa County. I suspect a Minor family connection as the name Minor Meade is frequently found in later generations of this Meade family, as well as the name Vivion Meade. Henry Meade married a Dickenson from Hanover and they named a son Minor Meade, another John, another Vivion. Thanks. bobbohank@naxs.net Bob Hancock 11/3/98

I am searching for records on William Littlepage (3rd son of Col James Littlepage and Sarah Winston) born at South Wales in 1756; He married Susanna Smith in Hanover County in 1782. He inherited a life estate in the Hanover County Plantation William Winston (d. 1791) left to his son Thomas Winston (Sarah Winston's brother, d.1794). I need the dates of their deaths (I believe px 1818 as William does not appear on the 1819 tax rolls) and the names and dates of birth of 5 of their children. The Eldest was William S. Littlepage who married Betsy Mustoe in Bath County in 1808. The others are indefinite. The 1810 census indicates there were 5 more: 1m 16-26, 2m 10 or under and 2f 10 or under. I believe they are Thomas W., Peter W., Francis Stevenson, Susan and Nancy but have been unable to confirm and verify parentage or dates of birth. LAMBETH-LAMBERT / McDANIEL-McDONALD / WINSTON
Tracking an elusive McDaniel/McDonald family. Interested in two men who fought under Capt. John Winston in the 14th VA during the REV WAR. Both received bounty land warrants--have sent for these. One was Andrew McDaniel and the other was Enemias McDaniel. Believe that Andrew, at least, was aka McDonald. He may have been the Andrew McDonald who died Berkley Co in 1799, leaving widow Hester and a number of children. If so, I have further info on him and his family who went first to KY, then OH. From what I can glean online, Enemias aka Enamias appears to have died by 1790 and left widow Lucy who remarried to a Lambeth. Think I have seen elsewhere Lambert. Think his first name could be recorded as Enos or some other variant. Would like to know if Enemias is related to Andrew, and if so, how. Share whatever I have freely. CLAYTON
Daniel Clayton bought land that was "partly in Hanover and partly in Goochland" counties Virginia in 1740. He was living in St. Martin's Parish of Hanover County as early as 1732.

HUNDALLS/ CRANEY ISLANDS FARM
I am curious about the Hundalls family that lived on the plot of land my house is currently situated. I live in Craney Island Farms on Caleb Drive. I was once told there was a farm here owned by a Mr. Hundalls (sorry dates and first names not known). I would like to learn more about what this area was before the development was built. Was there really a farm here? Was there any taverns by the railroad tracks on Atlee Station Road in front of our development? I was told a tale that there was a farm house here and where our house is there were old shacks where Mr. Hundall allowed hobos from the railway to live. Do you think there could be any truth to this story? Thanks for any help you can give me! virginia-stitcher@erols.com Paige McGhee 1/10/98
