Thomas Neal and Mary Ann (Stokes) reared their children on Finneywood Creek, Mecklenburg Co., VA. In 1782, Thomas Neal and Mary Ann sold the tract on which he lived to Matthew Marable. died in Charlotte Co., VA, on land he purchased on Bluestone Creek, adj. Barnes, in 1792/3. Thomas Neal possibly lived on land he owned in Lunenburg County between the time he sold his Mecklenburg tract and the date he purchased the Charlotte County tract.

John Gregory was still living in Mecklenburg County when he married in 1793, Elizabeth Neal, daughter of
Thomas Neal. John and Elizabeth Gregory later settled in adjoining Lunenburg.

The will of Thomas Neal is found in Charlotte Co., VA WB 2:130B 1798.
