Bounty Land Claim

Form of Declaration for Widow of a deceased Officer or Soldier.

State of Kentucky
County of Breathitt

On this 12th day of November A.D., one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, personally appeared before me, a justice of the peace, within the county and state aforesaid Susannah Adison aged 73 years, a resident of Owsley County, in the State of Kentucky, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Rodin Adison, deceased, who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain John Hamon in the 5th VA Militia Regiment of Militia commanded by E. McLanahan Lieut. Col. in the War with England and the U.S.A. of 1812, That her said husband entered the service at Russell County, Virginia on or about the (blank) day of August or September A.D. 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months and was honorably discharged at Fort Nelson on the 22nd day of February A.D. 1815, as will appear by his original certificate of discharge here filed. she further states that she was married to the said Rodin Adison in Russell Co. VA on the 5th day of Feb 1805, by one Edward Kelly a minister of the gospel, and that her name before her said marriage was Susannah Keen, that her husband died at Russell County, VA on the 19th day of July A.D. 1844, or 5, and that she is still a widow, never having been since married, nor made any previous application for her bounty land. She knows of no private or public record of her & her s'd husbands marriage.

She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act passed the 3rd day of March 1855 never having before applied under any act whatever.

Bailey residents of the State of Kentucky and County of Owsley, who being duly sworn according to law, declare that Susannah Adison is the widow of Rodin Adison deceased, who was a private in the company commanded by Captain John Hamon in the 5th regiment of VA Militia commanded by Lieut. Col. E. McLanahan
