Ray/Whited Cemetery

I visited and cataloged this Cemetery on August 25, 1998. It is located off Rt 19, 1/2 mile west of the intersection of Highway 19 and 80. Look on North side of 19 for brick house on top of hill. The cemetery is on the south side of 19 behind the large building which is now a used car lot. stay on hardtop and look for huge oak tree at the head of the cemetery. This is a well kept cemetery with a chain link fence surrounding it. The lower part of the Cemetery consists of slave and negro graves. Many of them are marked with fieldstones, or not marked at all. It is said that many of the houses around the Cemetery were built on the graves of slaves. It is called the Ray or Whited cemetery, depending on who you ask.
