This Indenture made the 16th day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between Susanna Bays Sen'r, John Bays & Catharine Bays his wife, William Bays, James Bays & Ruth Bays his wife, Joel Bays, Peter & Margaret Bays his wife, Andrew Martin & Mary Martin his wife, Joseph Bays, and Harrington Little & Susanna Little his wife. Heirs and representatives of Peter Bays Dec'd of the one part and Mary Robinson, Richard P. Robinson, David Robinson, Samuel Robinson, Joseph P. Robinson, Hannah Robinson, Isaac Robinson & George W. Robinson Heirs and representatives of Samuel Robinson Dec'd of the County of Russell and State of Virginia of the other part. Witnesseth that the aforesaid Heirs and representatives of the aforesaid Peter Bays Dec'd for and in Consideration of two hundred pounds of good and Lawful Money of the United States to the aforesaid Peter Bays Dec'd in hand paid by the Sd. Samuel Robinson Dec'd before the ensealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt is hereby acknowledged by the afores'd Heirs and representatives of the Sd Peter Bays Dec'd) Have bargained and sold and by these presents do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the afores'd Hers & representatives of the Sd Samuel Robinson Dec'd them and each of them Heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land Containing one Hundred and Seventy Acres more of less according to the bounds hereafter described which tract of land was granted by this Commonwealth to the said Peter Bays by patent bearing date the 14th day of April in the year 1788. And in County of Russell on the Waters of Clinch River ajoining the North side of the Elk Garden tract of land and bounded as follows to wit Beginning at two white oaks on the South side of Preece Mountain thence S. 16 W 79 poles to two Shugar trees and a buckeye on sd Elk garden Survey North 63 East 122 poles to a buckeye ash & large walnut South 59 east 28 poles to two Shugar trees & Chesnut trees on the end of a ridge North 45 East 164 poles leaving sd line to two dogwoods and a red oak on the top of a Ridge North 36 East 108 poles to two red oaks by a sink hole N 26 West 54 poles to two Shugar trees and a Chesnut at the foot of Sd Mountain thence south 57 West 343 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold to the afores'd heirs and Representatives of Samuel Robinson Dec'd and their heirs and assigns forever and that said Susanna Bays, John Bays, and Catharine his wife, William Bays, Joel Bays, James Bays and Ruth his wife, Peter Bays & Margaret his wife, Joseph Bays, Andrew Martin & Mary his wife, Harington Little and Susanna his wife heirs and representatives of the afores'd Peter Bays Dec'd and each of them do and will forever warrant and defend the sd land unto the sd Mary Robinson, Richard P. Robinson, David Robinson, Sam'l Robinson Jr, Hannah Robinson, Joseph P. Robinson, Isaac Robinson and George W. Robinson their and each of their heirs forever free from the Claim or Claims of them the sd heirs and representatives of Sd. Peter Bays Dec'd or either of them their heirs or either of their heirs and of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall will and do forever warrant and defend unto the sd heirs and representatives of Sam'l Robinson Dec'd the afores'd land In testimony whereof they have set to their hands and seals this date above written

We George W. Johnson and John Bays justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that James Bays, Peter Bays, Andrew R. Martin, Joseph Bays and Harrington Little parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 16th day of November 1815 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and Deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the county Court of Russell in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 7th day of November 1835.

We George W. Johnson and John Bays justices of the peace in the county aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Polly Martin the wife of Andre R. Martin and Susannah Little the wife of Harrington Little parties to a certain Deed bearing date on the 16th day day of Nov'r 1815 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in out County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from their husbands and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to them they the said Polly Martin acknowledged the same to be their act and and declared that they had willingly signed sealed and delivered the the same and that they wished not to retract it. Given under our hands and seals this 7th day of Nov'r 1835.

This Indenture of bargain and sale from the heirs of Peter Bays deceased to Samuel Robinson's was acknowledged before me in the clerk's Office of Russell on the 8th of December 1835 by John Bays one of the parties thereto and with the certificate of acknowledgment by them of the parties before two justices of the peace admitted to record.
