This Indenture made the 13th day of Aprill [sic] in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen between John Grizzel and Elizabeth his wife and Thomas Francis and Jean his wife Ambrose Hamon and William Grizzel and Rebecker his wife and Robert Hamon and Rachel his wife and Joel Fields and Nancy his wife and James Chaffin and Sarey his wife all of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia and heirs of John Hamon decesd [sic] of the one part and John Hamon of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia of the other part - witnesseth that the said John Grizzel and Elizabeth his wife and Thomas Francis and Jeane his wife Ambrose Hamon and William Grizzal and Rebecker his wife and Robert Hamon and Rachel his wife and Joel Fields & Nancy his wife and James Chaffen and Sarey his wife for and in the consideration of twenty fore dollars and seventy cents to each of them in hand paid the receipt they do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Hamon all their respective parts of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Russell on both sides of Dumps Creek containing seventy six acres of land be the same more or less and bounded as followeth - Beginning at a dogwood sapling on a line running along the foot of a hill and along the said line S. 48 degrees No. about sixty poles to a white oak South 70 degrees W. to the middle fork on a conditional line between the said John Hamon and John Hamon decd. and along the said conditional line the old patened [sic] line cornering on a buckeye and sugartree in a bottom S. 30 degrees E. 112 poles running running along the side of a steep hill to a sycamore at the foot of the same by the creek S. 1 degree E 66 poles to a poplar and dogwood at the foot of said hill S. 64 W. about 16 poles to a white oak marked three chops the conditional corner betwane [sic] the said John Hamon and Nimrod Kizer from thence an Eastwardly corse along a gut [?] to the Creek crossing said Creek to a line on the old patened line, thence along the said line about 18 poles to a hickory and sugartree on the side of a steep hill thence running along said hill N. 11 degrees W. about 159 poles to a spanish oak on the bank of the creek from thence by a sugartree across the Creek and with several markd [sic] trees to the beginning and also their respective parts of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Russell on the Est [sic] side of Dumps Creek joining the above mentioned tract of land, containing ten and a half acres, and bounded as followeth - Beginning at two white oaks thence S. 52 degrees W. 20 poles to a hickory and shugartree on the side of a nob N. 11 degrees W. 88 poles to a cedar and walnut by a mill pond, thence N. 82 degrees E. 20 poles to a maple and white oake [sic] S. 8 degrees 30 m E. 80 poles to the beginng with their appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land to the said John Hamon or his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Grizzel Thomas Frances Ambrose Hamon William Grizzel Robert Hamon Joel Fields and James Chaffin doth warrant and forever defend their respective parts of the said land from the claims of all persons whatever In witness whereof the said John Grizzel and Elizabeth his wife Thomas Frances and Jane his wife Ambrose Hamon William Grizzel and Rebecker his wife Robert Hamon and Rachel his wife Joel Fields and Nancy his wife and James Chaffin and Sary his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this day and date first above written.

We Ezekiel Burdine and Henry Dickenson junr. Magistrates of the said County do hereby certify that John Grizzal Elizabeth his wife Thos. Francis and Jane his wife Ambrose Hamon and William Grizzell and Rebeccah his wife Robert Hamon and Rachel his wife, Joel Fields and Nancy his wife James Chaffin and Sarah his wife parties to the within conveyance have duly acknowledged the same before us on the 13th day of Aprill 1816, and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the County Court of Russell in order that the said conveyance may be recorded as witness our hands and seals.
