Killing on the Kentucky Road

By Emory L. Hamilton

From the unpublished manuscript, Indian Atrocities Along the Clinch, Powell and Holston Rivers, page 205.

Arthur Campbell, to Governor Randolph, November 1, 1790 (1)
The 18th ultimo as a party of emigrants were passing through the wilderness to Kentucky they were attacked by a party of Indians. Our people were dispersed; 2 killed and several wounded.

From another quarter, we learn two parties of Cherokee warriors has set out to harrass the travelers to Cumberland and Kentucky.

In the above letter it is regrettable that Campbell did not give names, as well as the location of this tragedy. It is unknown whether it happened in Virginia or Kentucky.
