Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom the presents shall come, greeting: Know ye that by virtue of part of a certificate in right of settlement given by the commissioners for adjusting the Titles to unpatented lands in the district of Washington and Montgomery and in consideration of the ancient composition of one pound sterling paid by Robert Vickers into the treasury of this Commonwealth there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Robert Vickers a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety two acres by survey bearing date the twenty second day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty three lying and being in the County of Washington on the head of a small branch the waters of Clinch River and bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a beech and two dogwoods on the north side of a ridge corner of John Jacksons land and with a line of the same north sixty degrees west one hundred and five poles to a dogwood white walnut and double colton? sapling on a brushy hill and leaving said north forty five degrees east eighty two poles to a ?hoan white oak and white walnut saplings by a branch south sixty nine degrees east sixty seven poles up said branch to a stake by the same and near the end of a speer north ten degrees east forty three poles to a stake on the top of a brushy hill north fifty six degrees east two hundred and thirty eight poles to a black oak sapling on the north side of a hill south twenty two degrees east eighty four poles to two sugar tree saplings and a large poplar on the top of a spur thence south fifty five degrees west three hundred and twenty one poles along a large ridge the the Beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its apputenances, to the said Robert Vickers and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and of the Commonwealth the ninth.
