On the 4th day of September, 1832, personally appeared before the County Court of Russell County and State of Virginia, Daniel Price, a resident in the County of Russell and State of Virginia, aged about seventy one years, who make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by the Act of Congress passed June 7th, 1832. That he enlisted in the Army of the United States about eighteen months before the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Little York in Virginia with Major Lipham in the State of South Carolina, belonging to the Regt. Commanded by Brigade Major, Wade Hampton, under the command of General Sumpter, and that after having been in the service of the united States as aforesaid about nine months, whenhe the said Daniel Price was attached to the Company of Captain David Dickson, Commissary of Provisions, and after remaining with him about three months, chiefly employed in procuring and supplying the Army with provisions he was taken sick and was discharged by the said Captain David Dickson which discharge is herewith exhibited; that he was then young, and does not now remember many of the incidents which occurred during his enlistment, but at the time of his enlistment he resided in South Carolina upon King's Creek about eight miles from the place where the celebrated battle of King's Mountain was fought; that he was at the taking of the fort occupied by the British and tories under the command of Major Manfield upon Congaree River; that from where he first enlisted as aforesaid he marched with Major Lipham to the fort aforesaid upon Congaree River, and was driven back by the enemy to Camden in the State of South Carolina, and from thence marched back with a reinforcement to the fort aforesaid attacked it, when the enemy, under the command of Major Manfield as aforesaid surrendered and were kept there under guard a while when the said Danile price was taken sick, received his discharge as aforesaid and was sent up the country upon Broad River near Col. Smith's ford, where he remained unalbe to perform military duty for about four or five months;- when his term of service of eighteen months for which he had enlisted under Major Lipham as aforesaid, had expired he went to Hillsborough in the State of North Carolina where he was enrolled but not drafted by lot to go to reinforce the army which was about to move against Lord Cornwallis who was thence marching from the South towards Virginia; that at the time he obtained his discharge aforesaid from Captain David Dickson he had only been atached to his company as Commissary of Provisions about three months, and that Major Lipham under whom he first enlisted was wounded by the British below the fort aforesaid upon Congaree River and was unable to return to his Army to which the said Danile Price was attached; and that although the discharge aforesaid is for three months only, yet he in fact served in the whole in the Army of the United States as aforesaid fully eighteen months inclusive of the three months which he served in the Commissary Department under Captain David Dickson as aforesaid; that during the time he was in the service as aforesaid he was engaged in no general battle except the one upon Congaree River as aforesaid; but performed many short marches to and fro in the state of South Carolina, against the British and tories. He hereby relinquishes evey claim whatsoever to a pension or annuity except the present, and he declares that his name is not on the pension roll in any State.
