Executed 03 Dec 1816

In the name of God I David Black of Russell County & State of Virginia being much afflicted in body but of sound dipsposing mind do make this my last will and Testament in manner & form following

In the first place after my death I desire that my executrix pay all my just debts

2nd I give and bequeath to my loving wife Mary Black my plantation whereon I now live with all the tools & implements (including the smiths tools) thereunto belonging - two horse beasts, two cows & calves and six head of sheep all of her own choice with the whole of my stock of hogs & fowls of every description that may be on the plantation - also all my household and kitchen furniture (except such as I shall otherwise dispose of) during her natural life or widowhood

3 I give to my daughter Morgan Day one note she now has in possession pn Reuben Clark for forty dollars

4 I give to David Day my grand son one grey mare with all her increase to him & his heirs forever - that James Day now has in possession

I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Black two cow & calves Molly & Lilly also one new saddle & bridle for a woman and a bay horse with a blaze face called Lary also one bed & furniture well equiped

I give unto my daughter Mary Black one bed well furnished & twenty dollars in cash out of the sale of such property as I shall direct to be sold to be paid by my executrix at the age of eighteen years or on the day she may be married

I give to my daughter Sally Black one bed well furnished & twenty dollars cash out of the sale of such property as I shall direct to be sold to be paid by my executrix at the age of eighteen years or on the day she may be married

I give to my son Mitchel Black one young filly called swallow together with a saddle & bridle & at the death of his mother or should she marry then and in that case the said Mitchel Black is to have possession of the land I now live on - All the residue of my estate not mentioned in my will I desire it shall be sold by my executrix to the highest bidder giving such a credit as she may deem best and the amount of the sale equally divided between my three children Mary Black, Mitchel Black & Sally Black

And lastly I appoint my loving wife Mary Black my whole and sole executrix to this my last Will & Testament In witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 25 day of September 1816

This instrument of writing was exhibited in court as and for the last Will and Testament of David Black dec'd and was proved by the oaths of Garland Hurt & Larkin Howard two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded - and on motion of Mary Black executrix therein named who made oath thereto and together with Rodah Horton & Garland Hurt her securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of fifteen hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs certificate is granted her for obtaining probat of the said will in due form
